Kristi Yamaguchi’s Daughters Are Too Cute
Kristi Yamaguchi sparkles at the world premiere of Disney-Pixar’s film Wall-E held at the Greek Theater on Saturday in Los Angeles.
The 36-year-old Olympic champion figure skater was accompanied on the red carpet with hockey player husband Bret Hedican, 37, and their two daughters, Keara, 4 1/2, and Emma, 2 1/2.
Yamaguchi and professional dancer Mark Ballas were this past season’s winners of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.

I don’t think people who meet, fall in love, and want to spend their lives together, think much of what race they are. No one should marry someone based on their race; it should be who they love and cherish, no matter the color of their skin.

I asked a friend of mine {f emale whom is asian} why alot of them marry american men, and she said Asian men are not as easy too find here, and are not as good looking and are very small, and usually not as educated. That will probably open up a can of worms with Asian men who read this, but that is what she and her Asian friends said, whether it is true or not. Anyway, Kristi and her family are very cute!!
You can’t help who you fall in love with. And, what’s it to you if Asian women marry someone outside their race? It’s actually enlightening to see different cultures collide and people, men and women, not having to be forced to marry one of their kind.
And, Keara and Emma are absolutely gorgeous. They’re the perfect mix of Japanese and Caucasian. It’s funny how all bi-racial kids are adorable. :)

That’s so racist and biased!! I hope you never have kids, because people should be free to date and marry whoever they fall in love with, regardless of race or color. I’ll have you know that i’m a 27 year old proud African-American woman W/Irish descent happily in love with an intelligent, sweet, caring Brazilian man, and it’s because we have amazing chemistry and love for each other! So what your’e saying makes no sense. I am willing to bet Kristi and her husband married each other because of what’s on the inside, not nessecarily of ethnicity or race. And their kids are so darn cute!! Let’s stop hating and live and love!!!

I’m Asian and my fiance is *surprise surprise* also Asian. No, Asian women really don’t have trouble finding other Asians. It depends on the individual, and most of my Asian friends are engaged or involved with another Asian. I think Meg just took one look at Kristi and Brett and assumed every other Asian woman is like that. We’re not. Most of us still marry within our race and honestly, what does it matter of whether we do or we don’t?

Somehow my earlier post seems to have gone lost, so hopefully I am not posting twice now. Anyway, Meg this comment about Asians having to marry Asians is horrible, I am with An Intelligent Mind on that one. America is a free country, people fought for the right to have everyone treated equal and give everyone the same rights and responsibilities. Of course there are still areas that need working on, but what you are saying is so backwards and uneducated. And I suppose it’s right what Victoria sais as well, you are shaped by your surrounding and if you live in an area where there are more white than Asian people, chances are much higher you will end up marrying someone with white skin. Not because you make a conscious decision to do so, it just happens that way. And completely agree with the rest of you, the most important thing is character, not looks. And by the way, Kristie’s daughters are just gorgeous!

I guess we can’t post links to videos. If you google Kristi and pull up videos there is a FitTV segment called Art of an Athlete that she did before Emma was born. There are about 4 videos in total and I think the 3rd one is where she and her husband talk about how they met and fell in love. It’s very sweet.

Okay, some of these comments are ridiculous. Who you love with is based on a connection that goes much deeper than what you look like, and that goes for everyone. Plus, who said that just because you look similar (asian+asian, or what have you) you should be together???????
FYI a lot of Asians are among the highest ducated in the country and have the highest income reported much higher thathe avergae white family….next to asian is white the i’m not even saying who gets the lowest rating based on income…i am just stating facts…
typical asian immigrant to the US is college educated or with a masters degree and comes here and ends up working as licensed professionals like nurses and doctors, physical therapists, accountants and other fields that require a higher level of edication…in most asian culture getting a college education is alrewady a given to any child born to a educated parent it is required and not even thought about…
and these educated asian girls don’t marry to produce white kids…a lot of white men like them because they are usually the kind of wives most men crave for…. and speaking of being asian not all asians look alike…depending on what country a lot of asian people are also very multi racial especially those coming from countries that were colonized by european countries for s o long…countries like the philippines, indonesia , malaysia and hong kong were colonized for hundreds of years by countries like spain, portugal, the netherlands (for indonesia) the Britsish Isles (for Hong Kong) and the USA….the philippines was a colony of SPain for 400 years and 50 years a colony of the US so the populated there is a mix of people of mixed ancestry with chinese, malay, spanish and what have you…looking part european in those colonized countries is a norm some of them look more european and continental than asian actually…those countries have been a melting pot since time immemorial long before people started accepting that here in the US…
I just wish that people who have no knowledge of world history would shut up cos you know nothing about the rest of the world and your inputs are very limited based on your small town exposure…
ANd for your information an example of products of a filipino mother are singer Enrique Iglesias whose mother Isabel is a Filipino of Spanish/filipino heritage and comedian Rob Schneider whose mother is also Filipino with mixed ancestry….and can these white men be blamed if they happen to fall in love with a beautiful and exotic and talented and educated Asian woman who will also surely give them a beautiful child…is that so hard to figure out….

In response to some posts about Asian women marrying Caucasian men. It’s not easy to find true love. When you do, whether it be from your ethnicity or not, it’s a wonderful thing. America needs diversity, so open your minds people!

I just wanna say that it is unbelieveable what meg said….my mom is full blooded japanese and my dad is full blooded german(both born in america) and I am perfectly happy with my ethnicity….Its not about the color of someones skin or there ethnical background…its about the connection you have with a person….my mom moved from hawaii to san fran and then to san jose…so she was around lots of asians…and I do agee that if you are in an area that has more asains then its more likely that you will end up with an asian but my mom was still around plenty of asians and fell in love with my dad…so it just goes to show you that it doesnt matter where you live and what ethnicity you are….you will fall in love with whom ever you fall in love with

Why does every post about an Asian person always have to provoke such hostility about race and interracial dating/marriage! Can’t everyone just say “oh what cute kids” or “looks like Kristi lost a few pounds” just like every other superficial post about any American celebrity. Do you really think justjared.com is a forum to have a serious discussion about the sociology of Asians or interracial dating in America? PLEASE GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!!!
I am of British/ Chinese descent and am currently residing in Singapore (Southeast Asia) with my family. The Asians here are certainly not stupid and in fact many asian males can actually give Cacuasian men a run for their money in term of looks. The Asians I meet here are eloquent and intelligent. Conversation with them are always a pleasure.
The race tolerance level are very very high here. I think this is something America can learn from. Many of my American friends are actually ashamed of the seemingly superiority and vulgarity some of their fellowmen displayed. I think it’s time Americans see how the world does not revolve around them and the Whites are certainly not any more superior than the Asians.
So please. The world is not in Black and White. So are the people living in this common ground we call home.
Stop with the racist remarks. It will only show how naive and ignorant you are. The world will laugh at you. Not with you.
Mindy, yes there are many college educated Asians but there are also Asians in Vietnam, Cambodia and Korea who are starving. That said, if the Asian culture is so proud of education - why marry into the White race with a race of people that have really high rates of uneducated folks: Kentucky, Virginia, etc. There is a video on youtube called “Where are the Asian girls” and it is made by Asian men who are upset that so many college girls leave them for White men and in the video some Asian girls say they prefer White men because they are better looking. I think Asian girls who come to this country have bought into the white male as perfect looking guy stereotype. In media, Asian men are seen as smart but not manly and that is unfortunate. I don’t care who you marry but don’t marry against a certain race. Marry for love.
I agree with mindy and post 51.. asian culture in general put emphasis on education…as comapred to others…sure there are a lot of starving people in many parst of asia but so are there many poverty stricken right here in america…but who among the minorities here are the most educated and accomplished,,, asians…it sounds so hard for others who are not in that group to admit that…if they are not professionals or highly paid they are hard working entrepreneurs like the koreans who own fruit stalls and groceries in new york, the indians who own all the kiosks in manhattan or the vietnamese who own the fruit juicres and manicure places…filipinos and indians many of them are the nurses and the doctors and accountants etc…some work as nannies but even these people have college degrees so they are hired by families who like a college educated person to care for their kids…
Yes Asians are highly educated - it is the immigrant mentality - but Asians are still stereotyped and kept to certain positions and not others. How many Asian politicians are there? Senators? Or heads of Fortune 500’s? How many Asians in TV shows, etc? Or Asian singers? It seems Asians are seen as good enough to be considered Computer Programmers but not high profile roles. I agree some Asian families think White is better and that is why a lot of Asians get surgeries to round their eyes, etc. It is the media influence. Look at Asian ANIME - none of those cartoons look Asian - they look European and they are made in Japan! I think people should marry who they want but as long as it is for a genuine reason. So I just wanted to make the point that Asians are highly educated - but not all - I mean look at the conditions of Asian communities in Chinatowns throughout the US. I just think Whites have kept Asians from key roles in society as well. And most immigrant groups tend to be highly educated. In NY, you see a lof of Africans who come to the states, sell things on the corner and work 24 hours a day and send their kids to private colleges and private schools. or Arabs, or Russians, etc. Immigrants come here to get an education and work really hard but the next step is to fully incorporate them into society.
It doesn’t matter how good looking the white men are or any races when it comes to marriage. The important keys are chemistry and communication that will help the marriage to prevail.
I am an educated asian woman who used to dating 5 handsome, well off and educated asian men at different time period. I broke up with all of them because we could not communicate eventhough they are all good looking. I met my white husband who is for me not that good looking at all as for my standard. Yet we can communicate and always work on our relationship. Please stop bringing interracial issue to justify some ignorant comments on gossip entertainment website.
What a super family. I’m a fan of Kristis. She is an amazing figure skater, pairs skater, athlete, and now dancer… loved her on dancing with the stars. I wish her the best. What a nice family they are. The children are amazing as well. Kristi would probably want the girls to get into figure skating:DD

This kind of marriage is cultural genocide. ‘guchi ignores the death camps in the U.S. that held Japanese people of color where they were lynched and raped, physically and psychologically. The sooner she divorces him for a nice person of color–Asian, Latino, African–the better. Believe me, you’ll never go back.
