Comedian George Carlin Dead at 71
Comedian George Carlin has died from heart failure, reports ET.
His longtime publicist said Carlin, 71, was admitted into the hospital this afternoon after complaining of heart problems. He passed away at 5:55 p.m. Sunday at Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif.
Last year, Carlin celebrated his 50th year in show business and was just tapped last week by the Kennedy Center to receive this year’s Mark Twain Prize, a lifetime achievement award presented to an outstanding comedian.
RIP.

He put his foot in the door for honest humor, and then kicked the door down for the rest of them. It was an honor to be able to watch his last HBO special LIVE. May he rest in peace knowing what he accomplished in this world, for humor and the rest of us.
I saw George perform his “You are All Diseased” routine live in 1999. One of the best and funniest shows I’d ever seen. We’ll miss you, Geoge.
That’s sad…my husband was a longtime fan of his, and never got to see him. In fact, we were talking about doing that this year now that I’ve moved to the States. He was even wearing a George Carlin t-shirt and had the laptop outside today. It was strange because he said that “the screen was so bright all I can see is George Carlin’s face staring at me”, and that was around 5-6pm.
As he said… He won’t be looking down on us.
He’s dead dead dead and he’s never coming back!
If he knew he was gonna live this long he woulda taken better care of himself.

You were the greatest comedian and the cleverest user of the English Language. You will always live through your works fighting against the stupidity of the world.

i cant believe hes gone…the smartest comedian there was out there…it wasn’t just a stand up routine ..it was a preaching! RIP Mr Carlin.
This really sucks. I loved George and thought he was one of the funniest people who ever lived. Now God will be laughing more often.

one of my favorite childhood shows as a kid. :(
Mr. Carlin was able to have my father, and myself, laugh at the same time in the late 60’s, early ’70’s. It was a difficult time for us and the country. He was this country’s bullshit meter.
His honesty will be missed.
