Comedian George Carlin Dead at 71
Comedian George Carlin has died from heart failure, reports ET.
His longtime publicist said Carlin, 71, was admitted into the hospital this afternoon after complaining of heart problems. He passed away at 5:55 p.m. Sunday at Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif.
Last year, Carlin celebrated his 50th year in show business and was just tapped last week by the Kennedy Center to receive this year’s Mark Twain Prize, a lifetime achievement award presented to an outstanding comedian.
RIP.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have
taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider
Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more,
but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have
bigger houses and smaller families, more
conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees
but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment,
more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but
less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too
recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get
too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read
too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our
values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate
too often.
We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life.
We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve
been all the way to the moon and back, but have
trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve
done larger things, but not better things.
We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We
write more, but learn less. We plan more, but
accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to
wait. We build more computers to hold more
information, to produce more copies than ever, but
we communicate less and less.
These are the times of fast foods and slow
digestion, big men and small character, steep
profits and shallow relationships. These are the
days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier
houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick
trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one
night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do
everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a
time when there is much in the showroom window and
nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can
bring this letter to you, and a time when you can
choose either to share this insight, or to just hit
delete.
Remember; spend some time with your loved ones,
because they are not going to be around forever.
RIP George
God is a ******* for this.
I love you George. You will be sorely missed :-(
Bad year for celebrity deaths!
“He didn’t believe in God..that can’t be good. I feel sorry for him.”
Heh, why? Religion is a burden he decided to get rid of, I’m sure he died satisfied, seeing as he was very successful and didn’t seem depressed at all.
This guy was what I liked in comedy and a true legend. Rest in Peace dude.
Those of you who find it sad that he didn’t believe in gods, remember that atheists have convictions as strong as those of the religious. Stronger, because they don’t have some guy in the sky to prop up their beliefs, only logic. If the gods you believe in should exist and penalize anyone for disbelief I’m sure Carlin would be laughing his head off on the way to his punishment, his opinion of religion having been proved right.
Toobad, I doubt Carlin was praying at the end. Hoping, yes, desperately wishing, perhaps, but not praying to a nonexistent god. He was many things, but he never struck me as a hypocrite.
For those of you writing RIP: I suspect he would have thought kindly of you, but there’s no need. George Carlin ceased to exist at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, PDT. There is nothing that can rest in peace or fitfully - just a decaying body.
I know you can’t see this, Mr. Carlin, but thank you.
7 words you can’t say in heaven?
Thanks for a ton of laughs………….from when I was younger and wasn’t allowed to listen to you, but did anyway. Til a just a few years ago and the movies that you did. You sense of humor will be missed.
RIP
My first album was Johny Cash at folsum prison,my second was
“Class Clown”,which I wore out and repurchased three times.
I am feeling sad because you are gone, but greatful you were
here.
From a man who loves the funny.
R.I.P.
We’ve lost a legend. Why couldn’t it be someone worthless like Carlos Mencia or Dane Cook. If these guys are where comedy is headed, consider comedy dead as well :(

If you live like there is no God you better be right?
