Angelina Jolie Will Bring Boys To Their Knees
Angelina Jolie will bring boys to their knees in her new action thriller Wanted, according to a movie critic for the New York Times.
Manohla Dargis says, “Ms. Jolie has been perfectly cast as a super-scary, seemingly amoral assassin named (wait for it) Fox. Few American actresses, especially those with such pin-skinny arms, can make beating a guy to the ground look so easy and, yeah, man, like fun. With her mean smiley-sneer and snug clothes, her heels and hieroglyphics, she cuts the kind of disciplinarian figure who can bring antsy boys of all ages to their knees or at least into their theater seats.”
Wanted is out in theaters everywhere today!!! James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman costars.
FYI: Sources tell The Daily News that contrary to denials, Angie has given birth to her twins. “They’re waiting till the babies are bigger and stronger before they allow anyone to take their picture,” a source told the paper.

I think Angelina will do a movie next spring as well. It will take time for sequals to Wanted and Kung fu Panda to be ready anyway. I do not think Angelina said or implied that she won’t work next year. I really think her comments in May reflect her plans for the short term , not long term. She said last year she would take a year off. She is. Having twins instead of just one baby may prolong when she will work again by 3-6 months.
I’m sure Mc Avoy7 fans will see Wanted. I don’t think he is a bigger draw than Angie. I also don’t believe most woman who saw Wanted , saw the movie because of james. Some did , Other did not. Plenty of females here went to the movie mostly because of Angie.
maybe is only me but violet aflleck and shiloh are so look like

today is the final spain-germany
There is only one woman in the top 20 and she is numero UNO. There is none like Angie.

I got to say I liked Taking LIves If nothing else for the very last part of the movie. Now Alexander is a whole different thing, apart from Angelina I can’t really watch the movie.
Happy Birthday Vicki!
I went to KFP today and the session was sold out at least 1 hour prior. I was so pissed off. Looks like it’s doing well in Australia. Aust isn’t a big market but it’s good to know KFP will continue to bring in money and there are still more countries to go.
Wanted was awesome :D :D
Happy Birthday Vicki :) :)
Have a good One sweetie :) :)

Wow a 50 million weekend for WANTED. That would be great.
More and more, films with different ratings and different genres can happily coexist at the box office — Alvin And The Chipmunks and I Am Legend, American Gangster and Bee Movie. In the No. 2 place, Universal’s Angelina Jolie/James McAvoy starrer Wanted debuted to $18.5M Friday and the same amount Saturday from 3,175 venues for a $51M weekend. That’s way more than the $35+M which the studio expected from this stylish summer actioner. It turned out to be the best June opening ever for an R-rated movie, beating Knocked Up’s $30.6M, and the 6th highest R-rated opening of all time (behind The Matrix Reloaded, The Passion Of The Christ, 300, Hannibal, and Sex And The City). It’s also the biggest opening for an Angelina Jolie movie ever because women wanted to see it as almost as much as men, while young and old came in nearly even. Also, newcomer McAvoy is almost as much of a draw for the film as veteran Jolie.

Tom Long: ‘Wanted’ — Grade: A
Over-the-top ‘Wanted’ is the action film to beat
“Wanted” may be the most absolutely stone bonkers, crazy-good movie of the century. Or it may be a gargantuan piece of trash.
Chances are it’s a combination of the two. But man, does it rock.
It probably has something to do with the modern, graphic-novel ultra-violence being interpreted by a Russian director who honed his chops on vampire movies. It’s just not something you see every day.
Too bad. The level of invention and energy in this movie makes your typical Hollywood blockbuster action flick look like little girls in pink dresses petting fuzzy bunnies in slow motion.

True, the story — based on the comic book by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones and adapted for the screen by Michael Brandt (”3:10 to Yuma”), Derek Haas (ditto) and Chris Morgan (”Cellular”) — is brashly ridiculous and over-the-top. But with director Timur Bekmambetov (”Night Watch”) behind the camera, the absurdities are so relentlessly entertaining you just don’t care.
James McAvoy (far, far away from “Atonement”) stars as Wesley Gibson, a wimpy nobody wasting his life away in a pointless cubicle job, tortured by his boss and dumped on by his girlfriend. Bekmambetov cues in on this empty, faceless existence as only a Cold War son of the Soviet Union could.
Suddenly, though, Wesley finds himself kidnapped/rescued by a tattooed hit woman named Fox (Angelina Jolie) in a screeching-skidding shootout that would stand as the best action sequence of the year — if the movie stopped right then (turns out it’s really only a taste of what’s to come).
Fox takes Wesley back to the lair of an assassin network headed by Sloan (Morgan Freeman), at which point Wesley finds out his long-lost father was the world’s top hit man. Unfortunately, he’s just been killed, and only Wesley has the genetic material to hunt down his murderer.
So Wesley undergoes some very intense, funny and painful training, and then the hunt is on, with the deadly Fox by his side.
McAvoy’s star has been on the rise for four years now, and this should break him into the Hollywood mainstream. He has one of those young faces which can move from innocence to bloody determination with complete confidence.
Jolie, of course, was born to sport tattoos, flash flesh and shoot guns. Nobody does it better. Really, no woman has ever seemed as dangerous on screen.
“Wanted” takes a leap of faith — actually, it takes about 10 leaps — and it certainly isn’t for everyone. It’s bloody, far-fetched, loud, leering and half-mad. But if you’re into hardcore action, it doesn’t get any better than this.

News about MIR. Support the project
Fans of Mike Holmes, star of Holmes on Homes, will be happy to hear that Mike made an appearance today at a community meeting in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans and announced he and his team were there to build a home for the Brad Pitt-founded Make It Right Foundation.
Holmes is famous for his distain for bad contractors (and who doesn’t feel that?) and a story in Canada’s National Post said Mike’s “indignation over shoddy workmanship went into high torque when he watched the hurricane crumple houses in New Orleans in August, 2005.”
Mike referenced the Three Pigs and said: “If you see houses blow down in an area that’s windy, build a house that will withstand high winds. I thought everyone knew that.”
And he concluded: “How can we build a home that will withstand a hurricane? The truth is, we can.”
Before Mike starts disparaging craftspeople from the late 1800s for the way they built the houses in the neighborhood where he spoke today, I’d like to point out that those homes were not so much destroyed by wind, but by flooding up the attics when the levees failed. If he can build homes that will withstand 8 to 10 feet of floodwater, more power to him.
I hope Mike takes time while he’s in New Orleans to watch an excellent Imax movie called “Hurricane on the Bayou.” That movie shows so beautifully that the miles of bayous, now disappearing at the rate of one acre every 38 minutes, are what have historically slowed the impact of storms that hit New Orleans, a city founded hundreds of years ago. There are long-term and complex factors why that wetland protection has disappeared and turned into open waters, and it will take national willpower to reverse those factors.
While I’m more aware than most people about the dangers of hiring unqualified, dishonest, nefarious or neglectful people to fix up your home, I trust that Mike won’t turn his experiences in New Orleans into just another rant against contractors.
While it might be comforting to have a group of bogeymen contractors to focus our anger on, the threats to homes in New Orleans — crumbling levees, disappearing bayous, climate change — are much more complex than that.

Wenders to head Venice film jury
Wenders began his career as a film critic
Film-maker Wim Wenders is to head the jury at this year’s Venice Film Festival, organisers have announced.
The German director, whose work includes 1999’s Buena Vista Social Club, won the event’s top prize, the Golden Lion, in 1972.
The documentary was a tribute to a group of veteran Cuban musicians who found wider fame through the film.
The Venice Film Festival is due to take place in the Italian city from 27 August to 6 September.
‘Strong ties’
The complete line-up for the event will be announced next month. A film by Oscar winners the Coen brothers will launch proceedings.
Their black comedy Burn After Reading co-stars Brad Pitt and George Clooney.
Pitt won best actor at Venice last year for his role in The Assassination of Jesse James.
Wenders, 62, who began his career as a film critic, won the Golden Lion in Venice for his 1984 film Paris Texas.
Three years later, he scooped best director at the festival for Wings of Desire.
Organisers said he had been selected to head the 2008 jury because he had maintained “strong ties” with the event since the 1970s.
Wanted isn’t available in my country yet. I’m stuck with all the kids movies and I’m really craving something more adult. I can understand why Wanted is doing well at the BO.

Happy Sunday to all the fans and miserable troll(s).
Brad Pitt’s brother to speak Sunday at church

Trailer Report
THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON
Brad Pitt plays a man who is born old and grows young. Gorgeous visuals. Epic scope. Cate Blanchett. But that’s about all you can surmise from this surreal but spare trailer. It’s enough. GRADE: A
Wanted was really good but its almost time to move on. BATMAN is coming! and he is going to destroy spiderman.

Good morning all. There is still time to see WANTED this weekend. It is a fun-filled, action packed movie. Mama Angie kicks some butts. I am looking forward to all of BP and AJ upcoming movie projects. Best wishes to AJ on a happy and healthy delivery of the twins. Best wishes to Papa Pitt on the MIR project. Thanks for all the updates, our kind and gentle Blogger(even to Dlisters and whiny has beens). Peace to all.
Angie is the most fascinating person in the world. You know why? Because everything about her is scrutinized, all aspects of her personality such as physically, spiritually, educationally/intellectually, socially, emotionally/ psychologically, professionally. In fact, she’s the only famous celebrity I know who is the MOST SCRUTINIZED by the public (media, fans, paparazzi, haters, trolls, peers, doctors, fashion experts etc).
Physically - From head to toe, every part of her body including mole, scars and of course her lips, eyes, eye brows, hair, head, butt, breasts, arms, legs, hips, skin, body , tattoos, hands, veins or even her uterus are discussed in every forum or blogs, polls, surveys, cosmetic surgery industry. Her fashion sense/ style is also looked at closely. Her shoes, her make-up/ lipstick, her bags, pants, dresses, accessories. People admire or criticize her but they don’t know that beauty is secondary to her. In fact, she finds flaws attractive.
Spiritually- She’s raised Catholic but she’s unfairly judged by some as atheist. Yet she lives her life full of Christian values. She respects & reads about other religions.
Educationally/ intellectually - Some people discriminates her not being able to finished her education yet she is smarter that most of us. People always find faults in her statements. Her every interview is taken out of context or misinterpreted or just taken as it is. Her thoughts and ideas are always in the news. Yet, people admire her especially when she lobbies for her causes.
Socially - Even the kind of people she associates herself with is also examined. Like who are her friends, or does she has friends at all. Some people do not know that she surrounds herself with good influences to her life from all walks of life like ordinary people, unfortunate ones, dignitaries, activists & principled people. Even her humanitarian work is investigated by some media people just to prove if she really is a “humanitarian”.
Emotionally/ psychologically - Her sanity is being questioned just because she’s different from what most people do or think. As what Angie said, “If being sane is thinking there’s something wrong with being different….I’d rather be completely f *** mental.” Or what her former co-star Giovanni Ribisi said, “The media promotes Angelina as an eccentric, like everything she’s into is so taboo and scary, but she is a hyper intelligent actress and totally honest woman who doesn’t happen to agree with middle-class status quo crap.”
Professionally - Her every performance of her movie is always scrutinized. Fortunately, most often, she receives a lot of praises in this area. The awards & accolades she gets from critics, peers, crews, writers, directors are oftentimes enough to silence the skeptics or cynics.
6,000 children die every day in Africa just because of dirty water and X is pimping dumbwater. That’s just disgusting.
Thanks BDJ. You’re brilliant as always.

neer, GREAT POST. Love it!
By Jeff Lyons on Jun 18, 2008 in Movie Trailer Reviews, Movies
Remember on “Mork & Mindy” when the writers had that really bad idea and made Mork give birth to a 6-feet-tall, 50-year-old obese adult played by Jonathan Winters? I do, and boy was it creepy. Oddly enough, that’s pretty much the plot of this new Brad Pitt film:
This movie tells the story of the life of Benjamin Button, a man who is born physically old and ages backwards as he gets older, all the while trying to gain a woman’s love who ages normally.
This film looks stupid. And annoying. And cloying. And I’ve definitely had my fill of Cate Blanchett (apologies to her fans, all you women and gay guys).
Spoiler Alert:
When Benjamin Button turns one, Angelina Jolie adopts him. He dies a year later. Sad.

You are welcome. I will be on vacation starting Tuesday for a week. I will be back on line, “If the God Lord’s willing and the creek don’t rise” after that. Mama Angie may or may not have had the twins by then, but I will catch up when I can. So keep the news rolling. Troll(s) take a hike. BP and AJ are doing great despite your rants on blogs, hate campaigns and all around being a pest. I wish BP and AJ and their adorable children all the best. Peace to all.
CLINIQUA @ 06/29/2008 at 7:36 am #650
Just have to add one of my fav scenes that the crowd loved too, I won’t give away too much - but the scene when Wesley is trying to get by AJ?? The look on her face made the audience just fall out laughing - the way she regarded him…you all know what I’m talking about….it was the funniest thing - cutest thing between Wesley & Fox in the whole movie LOL.
=============================
Yah Cliniqua, that scene is my favorite too. I can’t stop laughing with this one. Angie’s face is funny. Wesley is trying to intimidate Fox but her expression, it’s making fun of him. That was CLASSIC !! Who said Angie is not good in comedy, well, i always find her funny. Her comedy style is different coz she’s not trying to be funny at all. Even with MAMS, Life or Something Like it, Angie is good as a “comedian”.
Another favorite scene of mine is the one with Angie & Morgan Freeman, when Wesley failed to curve the bullet. Angie & Morgan has no speaking lines in that scene but the way they look at each other. That was just WOW, they allow their eyes do the talking. They were so good. Well, they are both A-listers & they are not Oscars awardees for nothing.
