Angelina Jolie Will Bring Boys To Their Knees
Angelina Jolie will bring boys to their knees in her new action thriller Wanted, according to a movie critic for the New York Times.
Manohla Dargis says, “Ms. Jolie has been perfectly cast as a super-scary, seemingly amoral assassin named (wait for it) Fox. Few American actresses, especially those with such pin-skinny arms, can make beating a guy to the ground look so easy and, yeah, man, like fun. With her mean smiley-sneer and snug clothes, her heels and hieroglyphics, she cuts the kind of disciplinarian figure who can bring antsy boys of all ages to their knees or at least into their theater seats.”
Wanted is out in theaters everywhere today!!! James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman costars.
FYI: Sources tell The Daily News that contrary to denials, Angie has given birth to her twins. “They’re waiting till the babies are bigger and stronger before they allow anyone to take their picture,” a source told the paper.

LOS ANGELES, June 29 (Reuters) - Animation giant Pixar hit the box office jackpot once again on Sunday as its robot love story “WALL-E” snagged the No. 1 spot during its first weekend of release across North America.
The movie, bolstered by near-unanimous critical praise, earned an estimated $62.5 million in its first three days, said Pixar’s Walt Disney Co (DIS.N: Quote, Profile, Research) parent.
It tied with 2001’s “Monsters, Inc.” to become Pixar’s third-best opener. The company record of $70.5 million was set in 2004 by “The Incredibles.” Industry pundits had been forecasting an opening for “WALL-E” in the $50 million to $60 million range.
Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie scored a personal best with the violent assassination thriller “Wanted,” which opened at No. 2 with a better-than-expected $51.1 million, said distributor Universal Pictures. Her previous record for a live-action movie was 2005’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” which opened to $50 million.
Last weekend’s champion, the Warner Bros spy comedy “Get Smart” slipped to No. 3 with $20 million, taking its 10-day haul to $77.3 million. The film should finish up with about $130 million, said the Time Warner Inc (TWX.N: Quote, Profile, Research)-owned studio.
Pixar, which Disney bought in 2006 for $7.4 billion in stock, has gone to No. 1 with all nine of its movies, a heady run that begin in 1995 with “Toy Story.”
“WALL-E,” a space adventure mixing an unusual love story with somber messages about the future of Earth and humankind, was directed by Andrew Stanton, who won an Academy Award for Pixar’s 2003 hit “Finding Nemo.”
The title character, or Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class, is the last of a cadre of robots tasked with cleaning up piles of trash discarded by humans who abandoned the planet centuries before.
The human race set off on a luxury space cruise during a planned five-year clean-up that lasts much longer and results in unfortunate changes in the human physique and psyche. Continued…

Thanks Belle and Shar for the BO info on Wanted. Wanted is truly wicked. Awesome movie.
So Wanted, Universal’s Angelina Jolie/James McAvoy starrer, debuted to $19.1M Friday and $17.5M Saturday from 3,175 venues for a $51.1M weekend. It marks a new franchise for the studio which expected only $35+M from this stylish summer actioner. It turned out to be the best June opening ever for an R-rated movie, beating Knocked Up’s $30.6M, and the 6th highest R-rated opening of all time (behind The Matrix Reloaded, The Passion Of The Christ, 300, Hannibal, and Sex And The City) and the 3rd biggest R-rated action film (behind The Matrix Reloaded’s $91.7M, and 300’s $70.9M). It’s also the biggest opening ever for a live-action Angelina movie and she proved a big draw: Cinemascore said the main reasons given for choosing to see Wanted were the action (67%) and Jolie (61%). Exit polling showed the audience breakdown was 52%/48% male to female, 51%/49% under age 30 to over age 30.

Wow those are great box office numbers. The Wanted budget was $75 million so they will easily make money on this film. I think DVD sales will be really good for this film as well. Kung Fu Panda is still in there. Congrats to all involved.
Its funny they more went to see the movie because of angie..lol
I’m so happy that the movie is a huge hit. Love everything about Angelina she is so darn sexy.

Is David Beckham playing in the LA/DC game that’s on TV now?
Bahahahahaha…..
Sorry…but the new maniston thread is so entertaining…mainly because of multiple shots like this…
‘Don’t IGNORE ME John!’ LOLOL

There are at least 2 more like this one too. Saaaad. Pathetic. Clingy. IGNORED. He’s treating her WORSE than Simpson. Like he doesn’t want to be seen with her. I think he’s realizing what a joke it all is - and especially what a joke she is. Two neurotics, do NOT a happy couple make. I mean, damn - dude has an anxiety condition and pops Xanax like Pez…does Maniston really think this was a good idea?? LOL
I never thought I’d say this, but I feel sorry for her…knowing the kind of weak simpering pathetic clingy image obsessed famewh*re she is, she (nor her agent Huvane) will accept nothing less than being fawned over, even if it’s totally fake (see Vince Vaughn).
Mayer is about to fired from this new job - not that he looks like he cares that much.
That, or they are as we speak, quickly arranging damage control pics that make up for the sheer desperation and ignoring of Maniston in these. Watch in the next 12 hours you may see new pics where he looks PDA friendly and attentive, just because Huvane and staff are reading these blogs and know the word is out that she looks like she’s being dissed. He’ll very quickly put a call in, and we’ll see a little bit of fauxmance in the next set. WATCH, and remember - I CALLED IT. LOL
Jen, seriously…no. SERIOUSLY. “He’s just not that into you.”

Who is to thank for the large success of Wanted? Universal mostly, but big thanks have to go to Angelina Jolie, who might be the leading female summer name working today. She added her voice to Kung Fu Panda, which opened to over $60 million only a few short weekends ago, got Mr. & Mrs. Smith above $50 million, and helped open Beowulf over $25 million. The woman embodies sex appeal, and brought males out in force for the aptly titled Wanted. Also, her adoptions and willingness to take on human rights issues ring true with women, which may have made the fairer gender more apt to check this one out (and James McAvoy would have helped in that department as well). McAvoy is turning into a star, and the above-the-title recognition for Wanted adds to the success he found in Atonement, and will find if he ends up in The Hobbit as Bilbo Baggins.
As stated, Wanted was once a graphic novel, and with a string of hits coming out of the graphic novel industry, this one won’t be the last. The poster boy for the graphic novel is 300, the film that starred no one but looked cool, as it became a $70 million opener and a $210 million domestic finisher. Sin City opened to $29 million, finished with $74 million, and now has two sequels lined up for the near future. V for Vendetta also earned over $70 million domestically, and the list goes on. Graphic novels are the perfect fit for Hollywood films - they can be over-the-top, violent, and drip with good ideas.
Cook, looks like we’ll be seing Wanted a few days apart, but don’t tell me what happens, lol. I don’t mind a few spoilers but I still wanna be surprised. Yeah I know BB isn’t a nonstop action movie but it looks really interesting, beautiful and certainly original. Enjoy Wanted later. BBL
Congrats to the cast, crew, and all associated with Wanted. I think AJ’s a great actress generally, but believe she is certainly in her element with the action genre. As much as I love MAMS, I’m a bit tickled Wanted looks to have edged it out as her biggest opening. LMAO @ those haters that used to froth at the mouth that she:
1. Wouldn’t and/ or couldn’t be a part of a big BO opening.
2. The only reason MAMS was so successful was due to the public fascination of Brad and Angelina and that media created ‘triangle’ crap.
The reality is, that wasn’t the case of the big opening then (or solely the reason) and with Wanted it’s clear she is a draw from the audience perspective (specifically given the exit poll information and the genre of action). I’m very happy for her and Brad, as well. I hope they continue doing what they are doing, both professionally and personally.
