Guys do not let up on Wanted this Sunday - let’s continue to blow it out for AJ, even if you don’t like violent movies or this isn’t your ‘type,’ of film - if you’re a fan of AJ’s buy yourself a ticket and stay in the damn bathroom for all I care..just buy a ticket(s). LOL

Julia, I now see that it is a collection of jewelery designed by him , my bad. Are you seriously getting angry because I think his designs suck? Is Brad pitt your father? I don’t see why you would get so angry with an opinion regarding his jewelery designs. They do not look good to me. I just hope the collection is for men… I think they would work better for a man.

Wanted, Universal’s Angelina Jolie/James McAvoy starrer, debuted to $19.1M Friday and $17.5M Saturday from 3,175 venues for a $51.1M weekend. It marks a new franchise for the studio which expected only $35+M from this stylish summer actioner fueled by the Matrix-like high octane provided by hot Russian director Timur Bekmambetov. It turned out to be the best June opening ever for an R-rated movie, beating Knocked Up’s $30.6M, and the 6th highest R-rated opening of all time (behind The Matrix Reloaded, The Passion Of The Christ, 300, Hannibal, and Sex And The City) as well as the 3rd biggest R-rated action film (behind The Matrix Reloaded’s $91.7M, and 300’s $70.9M). It’s also the biggest opening ever for a live-action Angelina movie and she proved a big draw: Cinemascore said the main reasons given for choosing to see Wanted were the action (67%) and Jolie (61%). Exit polling showed the audience breakdown was 52%/48% male to female, 51%/49% under age 30 to over age 30.

Wanted’s $51 Million Opening Sets New Records!

This was a great weekend at the movies with the amount of business in theaters making it one of the Top 10 biggest weekends in box office history. A good portion of that business can be attributed to Universal Studios’ surprise hit Wanted, based on Mark Millar & J. G. Jones’ graphic novel, which opened with an estimated $51 million despite going into the weekend as an underdog against Disney/Pixar Animation’s new movie WALL•E.

This was the first weekend ever where two new movies opened with over $50 million, but Wanted also had the biggest opening for an R-rated movie in June, as well as being the 6th or 7th highest R-rated opening ever. Wanted averaged an impressive $16,000 per-theater, and it’s significant for being Angelina Jolie’s biggest opening ever, surpassing her 2005 summer hit Mr. and Mrs. Smith and her breakout action movie Tomb Raider. That said, it was only Atonement star James McAvoy’s second biggest opening movie after Disney’s The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005. The well-reviewed action movie is also quite an achievement for Russian director Timur Bekmambetov, whose two previous Russian movies grossed just $2 million between them when released in the United States, despite being record-breaking hits in Russia.

I remember once Matt Damon saying that if your personal life is in tabloids your movies will not do well at the BO. Well the tabs have hounded the JP’s for months but Angie’s movies are still kicking ass. She has 2 movies in the top five. Girl power, that is my kind of girl.
