OlderMadonna and Guy Ritchie Agree to Divorce
Madonna and Guy Ritchie have reportedly agreed to end their seven-year marriage.
A friend said last night: “They were both very calm. Madonna told Guy: ‘I’m sorry, I want a divorce’. And he agreed. It was quite painless but very sad.”
One disclosed to the Daily Mirror: “He’s a bit down in the dumps, and who can blame him. He’s off to the country to get a bit of peace and quiet.”
Madonna, 49 reportedly has begun seeking advice from divorce attorney Fiona Shackleton, who represented Paul McCartney in his divorce. Ritchie, 39, is believed to be consulting with Forsters, a lesser-known London law firm.
The couple apparently did not have a prenuptial agreement which could potentially lead to a 50-50 split of assets.
Madonna is believed to be worth about $600 million.

Even if they don’t have a pre-nup, the poor guy should receive danger pay after being married to her for 7 years….
Well, in all fairness, when they got married, Guy’s career was quite promising and on the rise. It seems like in a way his marriage to Madonna ruined his career. He became known more to people as the guy who married Madonna.
I agree with a lot of the posters here, Madonna doesn’t seem easy to live with in the first place. I won’t be surprised if this story is true, but I do wish it isn’t.

I’ve never liked her although I like some of her songs. She’s too much a sex exhibitionist. Seeing her at forty something in hot pants and sexually provocative poses just leaves bad taste in my mouth. But without all these antics she would not be the great entertainer that she is.
I hope Madonna didn’t have a pre-nup (although I find that really hard to believe) because Guy deserves to get half of everything for putting up with this narcissitic selfish b*tch for seven years. She f*cked up when she insisted on that adoption against Guy’s wishes…..I think she only did it because she wasn’t getting the attention that Angie, George, and Don Cheadle were getting. She is going to end up like Cher…..65 and still trying to look and act like 25….it’s so pathetic.
why did madonna adopt a small child and then seek a divorce from hubby is it a grab at the attention she craves. when she adopted david some said she was copying brad and angie. could this be true. i think so madonna never did anything that was not a pr stunt it must be sad to be so phony i feel sorry for her children.

I have loved Madonna for as long as I can remember.
I think she seeks out attention because as any good business person knows, it’s important to stay relevant. She might do a lot of things people don’t approve of and not everybody has to like her music but I sincerely doubt she filed for divorce in an attempt to get attention and media coverage. I’ve read numerous books about her and the one thing that always gets mention over and over is her lifelong search for love. She was devastated when things didn’t work out between her and Sean Penn and always viewed that as her biggest failure. (”Take a Bow” and “This Used to be my Playground” were all about him.) I can’t imagine having to live through another failed marriage is something she would stage for publicity, especially after expressing so much hurt and sorrow over her first one.

She is the wizard of re-inventing and marketing herself ~ for someone who has minimal vocal talents, you have to hand it her, she made herself a “brand” if you will.
Doubt if not having a prenup will hurt her much. How long will it take to spend $600 million ? ? People get divorced every day and don’t know how they are going to pay the bills, feed the kids, etc. Her life won’t change that much…maybe some more PR and she parades around her new men.
She just doesn’t have the “buzz - ability” that she used to. We’ve seen her for too long and she can’t reinvent her youth, and sad as it is, we are a society fixated on youth.
I’m sorry but I don’t feel sorry for Madonna. I think this is freedom day for Guy Richie because he doesn’t have be Madonna “beard” anymore.
He’s gone to the country so he can finally say, I got rid of that awful woman, her fake religion and her “bought” child,. I think that was one of the major reasons for the divorce- Guy was not going along with this fake Africa “movement” Madonna was doing.
Not because Richie is anti-African or racist, but he’s a man and men aren’t always open to such things as foster care and adoption. I don’t think Madonna consulted him at all. She just does what she wants and everyone has to do along with it.

Marriage takes work, this I agree. And indeed there are men/women (more women than men, a lot more) who stay in marriage because of the financial security or lifestyle their spouses can provide.
But how do you know that Guy is this type of men. According to news outlet, he wasn’t a pauper. He was said to have come from an aristocratic family in England. Could Madonna have married him to get in his aristocratic circle? Common people with load of money often want to be in the blue blooded crowd. Surely Madonna wasn’t stupid. It ‘d fairer to say that they used each other to get what they wanted though there’s no evidence that he had used her for any climbing. He hasn’t been reported to go on outrageous shopping spree, hasn’t been pictured in the latest and hottest fashion like Katie Holmes, hasn’t made movies with her money. I wonder what financial security you think he wanted.
But all this isn’t what stirred me to comment on your post.
What stirred me is the fact that you seem to evaluate your men on money and yet you say marriage needs work. So if your husband happened to hit a tough period in his life where he couldn’t earn equal to your an amount of income, you’d belittle him, chastise him for failure and kick him to the curb? And if after you have been such a ***** of a wife he wanted a divorce, you’d go about telling people he’d planned for the divorced and you’re a free of blame? I feel for your poor husband or boyfriend. Let’s hope he never hits a slump while he’s with you.

Madonna was definitely like the man in the relationship. I’m sure she has always considered Guy inferior to her. I thought it was a rumor, but surprisingly, I feel like I understand. A woman who loves control as much as her and is confident, bordering on arrogance, probably thinks she deserves a “better” as in hotter, younger, more in the public husband. He was a good man, never heard any cheating rumors, and I love his films. Too bad.
I really doubt he’s going to try and snatch all her money. He DOES have a his own film work and he has probably made his own investments and created his own assets. Not everyone is singing and dancing and acting to make money. Anyway, I never saw this guy running around trying to be glitzy and get attention. It would seem strange now.

I really think it’s a “she” adopted, because she does what she wants. She tried to circumvent the Malawi adoption system the same way she probably adopted without really thinking it through with her husband. I really do think she was just caught up in the “novelty” of adopting an African child because it seemed like her “humanitarian gift” to Africa
