OlderMadonna and Guy Ritchie Agree to Divorce
Madonna and Guy Ritchie have reportedly agreed to end their seven-year marriage.
A friend said last night: “They were both very calm. Madonna told Guy: ‘I’m sorry, I want a divorce’. And he agreed. It was quite painless but very sad.”
One disclosed to the Daily Mirror: “He’s a bit down in the dumps, and who can blame him. He’s off to the country to get a bit of peace and quiet.”
Madonna, 49 reportedly has begun seeking advice from divorce attorney Fiona Shackleton, who represented Paul McCartney in his divorce. Ritchie, 39, is believed to be consulting with Forsters, a lesser-known London law firm.
The couple apparently did not have a prenuptial agreement which could potentially lead to a 50-50 split of assets.
Madonna is believed to be worth about $600 million.

Some of you need to grow up.
So much for commitment and working through the seven-year cycle; obviously, she tried to immerse herself into a traditional British culture with a traditional guy, and long-term it didn’t work.
It seems the Americans who seek out relationships with those in other countries and make their great exodus for greener pastures abroad eventually head back to the United States no matter how challenging life might appear since 9/11. Madonna will find some very good schools on the East Coast for her children, immerse them into the East Coast culture, rebuild a single life as a mother, and discover more expansive career opportunities for herself.
She has lost big time with having to give up a huge part of her fortune to someone far less successful, and I cannot begin to imagine how much she has been “taxed to death” by the British Government. The fact that she did not have him sign a pre-nuptial agreement may sound like an ignorant thing to do, however it demonstrates her heart intentions were honorable for a lifetime marriage.
Americans need to embrace Madonna and her children as a family of our own. Good luck, Madonna….protect yourself and your children!
re Linda my God do you have issues????? Guy did not marry her for her money. He is from a wealthy family, blue blood in fact and well educated. She wanted to be part of that with her constant reinventing of herself, she wanted act like Lady of the manor with her fake British accent. She has always said she finds British people more intelligent and better educated than her fellow Americans and reading some of these posts I can understand why.

I don’t know what to believe! People have been reporting the end of their marriage since the beginning of their marriage. The rumors are getting more frequent, but it’s hard to know what to believe.

I’m sorry to hear this. I hope Guy can reinvent his career. I know Madonna will continue her career in some direction. She’ll probably start directing movies herself.

both have stuff coming up and just want to create some buzz. besides these two fakeries, her with her faux brit accent and him with his mockney stance, are made for each other. it would have been more believable if you said Guy was anxious for the divorce and madge wasn’t. honestly who wouldn’t want to be rid of this pretentious muscle bound menopausal 50 year old with a few mil thrown in for good measure?

Mariah Carey is just as dumb as Madonna - not getting a pre-nup with a guy more than 10 years younger than her. I can’t wait until I see her money get stripped away from her when they divorce.
If they divorce, I hope Madonna doesn’t get married again. If she couldn’t make it with Guy, she probably can’t make it at all - w/anybody. In the beginning of their romance, Madonna was crazy in love with Guy like she was with Sean Penn. That’s like a true love feeling. If it died with Guy, it will just die again. Madonna is so creative that she must keep going. I think she is better off pursuing creative ventures and continually climbing new mountains or she will become too bored and antsy.

Guy is a good man and has been great assistance to her. Although he is behind the scene he has probably helped her alot. How much more fame Madonna wants ? She was ok to have a baby with her personal trainer in the beginning and now she divorces Guy because he is unknown and quiet?
It is sad. The other day there was picture of her children together, it was perfect.
I hope they will rethink about the divorce and try to sort things out for the sake of the children at least.

I feel bad for them but there’s always been something just a little weird about this marriage. She’s fallen off horses and bumped into doors an awful lot since she married him. I like Madonna a lot so I wish her the best and the same for her children. I think divorce is probably even lonelier when you’re older than when you’re 20-something.
I hope it is not true. I always liked the idea of them staying married. But, I guess if it is true - it would seem to me that it is because he is boring and she isn’t. Just not a good match. Oh well. -
