300 star Camilla Belle (in Valentino) joins tennis champ BFF Maria Sharapova at the Valentino Haute Couture fall/winter 2008-09 collection shown in Paris, France on Wednesday.
Also pictured is designer Giorgio Armani’s niece, Roberta, who helped dress Katie Holmes and her wedding party for TomKat’s nuptials.
Sharapova, 21, who was seeded third in the Wimbledon tennistournament, endured a straight-sets second-round beating from a player ranked 154th in the world, losing 6-2, 6-4 loss to Alla Kudryavtsev. After the match, Maria said: “I have had to deal with a lot of ups and downs in my life, on and off the court. But the number one thing is not to be disappointed by that, or by losses, or by negative things, things here and there. You have to find a way to keep your head even though it’s pretty tough.”

Sharapova’s beat down reminds me of Serena’s beatdowns a little earlier in her career when she let the whole celebrity thin gget in the way of tennis. But the sisters are doing well this year. I like these 2 girls. Yes, they’ve been BFF for about 21/2 years. True, Maria needs to find her game again, but it’s not like she’s in serious trouble. She won the Aussie Open 2008 and is the U.S. Open defending champ going in.
