#187, As ‘old people’ like to be rational, let’s take your accusations rationally.

Speaking for myself as an ‘old person’, I was brought up and taught that caring about someone involves respecting them as human beings and caring about their happiness not what interests me in them. It seems we have different ideas of what it means to be a fan.

If I believed Zac and Vanessa were fake and would do anything for money and success, I wouldn’t respect them and I wouldn’t be a fan, for older people, it’s about personality and character, not just looks.
I am a fan because the dynamics of their relationship that we are able to see, in my own experience, points to a couple in a serious and committed relationship, who refuse to exploit that relationship just to fulfil the unreasonable demands and fantasies of teenagers.

None of the ‘old people’ here think they are all lovely and perfect. We know that because they are humans, they have flaws like us but we choose to keep emphasising what is positive about them because we would like to be treated the same way.
We were also taught in our days and have experienced that real love encompasses the good and the bad, for better for worse. We don’t need to create any visuals in our minds.
From the actions we see, we observe the good and the things we appreciate in them, realise they still have flaws but love them, flaws and all.

For the ‘old people’ here. We don’t need paparazzi intruding in their privacy to keep us interested in them as we’re not that fickle. If that’s what keeps you interested as a fan, speak for yourself.

There are enough public events, appearances on mags and TV, newspaper articles, authorized photographs etc to keep us interested and give us fodder for speculations and discussions. We didn’t get candids when they were filming but their threads then run into the 700s. We had a lot to talk about, but then we’re ‘old people’.

Being on this and other fansites is what fans do. We are here to support them, keep up to date on news about them, clarify what is true and what is a rumour and appreciate them with other like-minded fans.
It becomes an intrusion when people who claim to care about them want to know the intimate details they refuse to share and go to extra lengths not to reveal. That is lack of respect for who they are.

I could say ‘I’m getting really annoyed with’ so called fans who don’t think much of Zac and Vanessa, have no respect for their privacy or their choices, would go through illegal means to get restricted info about them, don’t care about them as long as they get want THEY (the fans) want, are willing to believe anything about them but just like the fact that they are together and they look good.

However, it’s a free world, anybody could call themselves fans. We just have to agree to disagree on definitions of a fan. Maybe you could allow us ‘old people’ to be fans the way we know just as you choose to follow your own definition of a fan. That would be much appreciated. Enjoy your day.

Hear, Hear Naomi, you are speaking for the rest of us ‘Old Fans”.

Zanessaluver23# 206, since you mentioned my name, I will address you. You do have a warped concept of what sort of fans Zac and Vanessa should have. I’ll bet my bottom dollar they will and do appreciate the older fans who are not fickle minded and are more supportive of their career choices but are not blind to their shortcomings. I have no problems with them having young fans and the fact that they can draw fans from all age groups and from all walks of life is a feat in itself. So who are you to dictate who should be a fan of theirs.

Do not forget Zac and Vanessa are becoming young adults and they cannot hold the attention and adoration of tweens or teens forever. The”Older Fans” will still be around rooting for them. And you are growing older,my dear, don’t you forget that. By then, you will have a different perspective of life and see things in a new light.

I’m not sure you have understood what Naomi#204 has painstakingly tried to explain to you and I doubt you will. We are not trying to belittle you but you are telling us to stay away from Zac and Vanessa’s thread.

I repeat as a true fan and if you are a genuine one you should welcome and embrace the rest of us as we all believe in them as individuals and as a couple.

By the way, may I ask how old you are? For your information, there are many of us “Old fans” who post on Zac and Vanessa’s thread.

I doubt it, Cindy. The paps would have gotten pictures of them being picked up from Hawaii. I think it’s more like the paps are combing for Zac and Vanessa everywhere or they feel they’ll get the same old pictures of Ashley and Jared on the beach which might not fetch them more money. I could be wrong, though.

Someone else mentioned it on one of these threads but I’ve never seen a picture of Zac hanging out with Jared and it doesn’t strike me that he would want to spend his vacation with them when they’ve all been together in Utah and would be thrown together again during HSM 3 promos but who knows.

My dear zanessaluver23, to put it very kindly, we don’t really care or give a hoot what you think.
I don’t know who’s life you have now, but when I was in my teens and now in my thirties, I very much have my own life thank you very much and I don’t ’sit online waiting’ for Zac and Vanessa news. I am a qualified forensic accountant, I have a full life with a great job and lots of offline friends, I still manage to read widely, entertain clients, travel with my job, learn a second language and play the piano and the flute.

What I do with my spare time is my business and as I do it with my hard earned money and not my parents’ money like you, you can happily take a flight to the moon for all the consideration I give to your immature opinions.

It’s one thing to have an opinion, it’s another to have the intelligence and diplomacy to know how to put across that opinion in a respectful way that does not sound like the illogical rantings of a teenager that still needs to grow up. And I thought, the principles of debate and communication were taught in schools.

Zac and Vanessa are very much aware of the fact that they have older fans and do appreciate them. That’s what makes them the kind of people they are and differentiates them from people like you.

I think you misunderstood me. I meant that if Disney sponsored this trip, I’m sure they( meaning Disney , would include Ashley too). I ‘m sure Vanessa and Zac would not want Ashley and Jared there right now if they paid for this trip. As I said, they need time alone.

I wanted to say that Zanessaluver23’s contention that Zac and Vanessa are “just for teens” to be very naive and shows very little understanding of how showbusiness actually works. No actor wants to appeal to just ONE age group. There are actors where that has been the case and most of them are no longer in the business. The broader the fan base the longer the longativeity.

Zac is going to be 21 and Vanessa is going to be 20, they aren’t kids anymore and the kids who loved “High School Musical” are going to grow up and their tastes are going to change. So the challenge for Zac, Vanessa and the other actors of their generation is to stay relevant so the more fans they have in ALL age groups the more likely that is to happen.

One last thing zanessaluver23: You think it is strange that us “old folks” like someone younger than us. Do you like actors who are older than 20–that’s how old Zac is which is older than you? Don’t you like some actor who is—God forbid—in their 30’s? Doesn’t that make you sick since that person isn’t in your age range?
