Brad Pitt is in The House That Bono Built
Brad Pitt playfully tosses around his son, Pax, 4, on the balcony of Bono’s mansion in Eze, France on Tuesday.
Not only was host Bono (of rock band U2) there, actor/director, Robert DeNiro and his family were also in attendance. De Niro, 64, was accompanied by his wife, Grace Hightower and their children: 12-year-old twins Julian and Aaron and son Elliot, 10.
Brad is pictured below having a chat with Grace. And from the looks of things, it looks like two of Brad’s other kids were there too. You can see the tops of Pax and Zahara’s heads!

Check out WANTED this weekend.
‘Wanted’ is a poster child for action movie
By Bruce R. Miller Journal staff writer
Sitting in a cubicle, listening to the folks nearby may be too much for anyone. But the alternative could be worse.
Or so an office drone discovers when he’s taken hostage and run through the paces of a group called The Fraternity.
Basically high-level assassins, the members are able to pick off bad guys under the worst circumstances. They kill from the hood of a moving car, off the top of a train, in a building blocks away. They’re sharpshooters, all right. But why?
That’s the question that haunts Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy), an account manager who’s swept up in the world of “Wanted.”
When Angelina Jolie grabs him at a pharmacy, he’s unsure what’s about to unfold. But director Timur Bekmambetov makes the adventure pretty darn exciting. He introduces Gibson to other members of the fraternity, their leader (Morgan Freeman) and the shooting range he’s expected to master before going out on the mean streets of Chicago.
Like Rocky, the young man has to train extensively. Eventually, he learns how to curve a bullet and anticipate a shot. But the learning process can be brutal. McAvoy sweats convincingly. Jolie is at her cool, collected best.
If, indeed, she has a niche, this is it. More action, less thoughtful drama and Jolie fans would be happy. While she’s not the film’s focus, she does play a bigger role than she did in, say, “Kung Fu Panda.” She’s a stern drill instructor at the boot camp for assassins. We know this because her tattoos tell us so.
Freeman doesn’t get much to do, but he does provide key information — particularly about the organization and its disciples.
Gibson’s father, we learn, has been killed by a rogue agent. The only one who could honestly avenge his death is his son, thus the quick initiation.
Bekmambetov drops plenty of clues to help us understand what’s really at play. Some aren’t all that interesting. Others are too obvious.
The office, meanwhile, is a great counterpoint. It’s filled with the kind of folks who populate NBC’s “Office” and it has sufficient motivation to warm to a world of cold killers.
At times, “Wanted” is extremely brutal — almost more than something based on a graphic novel needs to be. But Bekmambetov knows his special effects and works them well. The “Matrix” dip (popularized by Keanu Reeves) is re-created by Jolie. The slo-mo bullets are shot just about everywhere.
With Jason Statham in the lead, you’d know what you are getting — this kind of film announces itself immediately. But with McAvoy as the hero, we’re constantly off guard, waiting for the truth to be told.
We hear it, eventually, but not until sufficient sweat has filled his brow and ours.
Rated R, “Wanted” features excessive violence and profanity.
On a scale of four stars, “Wanted” gets:
3 stars

OUCH, Bad news for Meet DAve, Flop. WANTED still going strong. and the little Panda crosses 200 million .
SATURDAY AM: Sources have just given me Friday’s very early North American numbers, including West Coast late shows (which were very strong tonight). Universal’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army opened to a feisty $13 million from 3,204 theaters with big support from African-American and Latino audiences. It’s well on its way to making what is expected to be $32M-$33M over the weekend. Obviously, the studio’s uber-marketing attempt to humanize the Guillermo del Toro pic’s bizarro collection of characters from the Dark Horse comic book worked nicely. That’s why Ron Perlman as Hellboy did promos on every NBC Uni media outlet imaginable. (Even on cable’s Oxygen channel with Bravo’s James Lipton interviewing him…) “We wanted to make him as audience friendly and accessible as possible,” one Uni exec explained to me. The fact that Hellboy II looks to make 50% more than the 2004 first movie’s $23.1M opening FSS is a real triumph for Universal Pictures, whose bosses Marc Shmuger, David Linde and Donna Langley swooped in and scooped up the sequel from Sony/Revolution Studios which did the original Hellboy I. (And the trio wanted it before del Toro’s Oscar-nominated Pan’s Labyrinth ever opened.) As one Uni exec exulted, “We took somebody’s reject pile and made it into a franchise for us.”
At No. 2, Sony Pictures’ holdover Hancock was down only -45% from its first place finish last Friday to earn $10.1M today from its 3,965 runs. It’ll have a $30M-$32M weekend and a $163M cume.
In 3rd place, New Line / Warner Bros’ Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3D took the freeway to a $6.7 million debut Friday from just 2,811 venues for what should be only a $15M weekend but good enough for #3. “I think anytime dinosaurs exist in a movie, don’t bet against it,” one Hollywood marketing guru told me. (Talk about date-swapping: the Brendan Fraser starrer was supposed to debut in August when the actor’s other summer movie The Mummy 3 was slated for July. Then Universal moved The Mummy to August, so Warner Bros moved Journey forward to July. Got that?)
Pixar/Disney’s lonely droid Wall-E was No. 4 since it keeps going and going like the Energizer bunny, racking up another $5.5M Friday from 3,849 plays for what should be an $18M-$19M weekend and $163M cume.
And all the way back at No. 7 was 20th Century Fox’s Meet Dave which even the studio didn’t bother to hide was going to bomb big-time. The Eddie Murphy starrer opened to an embarrassing $1.7M Friday despite playing in 3,011 theaters for what is expected to be only a $5M-$6M weekend. It’s not like this is the first moronic movie Eddie has starred in — remember Norbit and Daddy Day Care which did big business? — but this was “an incredibly difficult one to market,” an insider explained to me. So was that other sci-fi Eddie pic, The Adventures Of Pluto Nash, which tanked as well. The general concensus is that Meet Dave should have been aimed “at young kids from the get-go”. Or just never made.

SMART PLANNING WITHOUT A PLAN
Saturday, July 12, 2008Renee Peck
About this time of year, I start getting holiday press releases. Really — new scents for holiday candles or perfect stocking-stuffers, and we’re not talking Christmas in July, either.
But these days, with the anniversary of You Know What on the horizon, I’m thinking more about jack-o’-lanterns.
Absolutely, says Jett. Knowing where people are rebuilding can help residents and organizations determine where to put schools and community centers and fire stations. It can help businesses decide where to locate. It can help secure grant funds and conserve resources.
“You have to define a problem before you can fix it,” Jett said. “I can give data to people, but they have to decide how to use it, how to get the best effect from it. The question is how to turn that raw data into something to act on.”
And that, he says, means looking at the big picture. The jack-o’-lantern picture.
– In its late 2007 survey of the Lower 9th Ward, Jett’s team found that, as one would expect, Holy Cross (which sits on higher ground) is seeing the greatest amount of rebuilding — 56 percent of residents were rebuilding or back in one area of Holy Cross, 76 percent in another.
– Also as one would expect, “ground zero,” that area of the Lower 9th Ward next to the Industrial Canal, is seeing the most vacant land and the least amount of rebuilding: 42 percent of the area consists of empty lots, 14 percent blighted houses, 35 percent gutted or rebuilding and only 9 percent inhabited. This, however, is where there’s a lot of activity going on from groups such as Common Ground and Brad Pitt’s Make It Right.

Good Morning all. Best wishes to AJ on healthy and happy delivery of the twins. I wish AJ on the best. Congrats on the success of WANTED and Kung Fu Panda. I am looking forward to Papa Pitt’s Movies and Changeling. Thanks for all the updates Just Jared. Your site will be in overdrive in the next few days. I hope you have a backup plan. The fans, hens, whiners and plain nutjobs will be punching tirelessly on their keyboards. Many blessings to AJ, the entire family and all the fans out there. Peace to all.
I miss the section that tells you all the new posts to the right. However, Just Jared has to get those ads in. I click on a few just to see what they are advertising except US WEAKLY. I can’t get over that Twisted Double life BS(my problem, I know!!!). Oh well, I can always click back to main page. Thanks for a great web site Just Jared.
Thanks bdj for the news articles. KFP over $200 that is fantastic and I am glad that Wanted is still going strong.
My mom and little sister called me from NY last night, they went and saw Wanted and they loved it. They called me to let me know because they know how much I love Angie :)
No surprise there about Meet Dave bombing, that movie looks STUPID & DUMB. Eddie should stop making movies
Alexanderina @ 07/12/2008 at 9:46 a
Eddie was the Man, once upon a time but he goes for the dollar much to often. He does have a bunch of kids, ex wife and issues to deal with. Maybe he should go back to being a standup comic. To get intouch with his comedic roots. JMO.
jaye @ 07/10/2008 at 2:58 pm Hey Jolie-Pitt fans. Hope you’re having a super day. Here’s a poem I wrote for the twins.
We are pair, just getting our start
Here beneath our mother’s heart
Wrapped in her warmth just like a glove
Wanted, cherished and very much loved
The world’s filled with bitterness and hate
But we’re at peace in our current state
Nestling in the womb, snuggled together
There are no pains or troubles to weather
So just for a while, a little bit longer
We’ll stay here; content, growing stronger.

Dear Jaye,
I read it earlier during the week, and remembered early this morning. Pretty awesome poem. It just erased some of the bitterness and hate of this world. I went our last night with good friends - I partied hard, very HARD. I joined them dancing on the tables. I seldom drink, but this time I wanted to forget - I was throwing up all over the place. It’s just not like me.
I was drowning my anger because …………. ……….. because ………….in my hands I lost 2 lives - a teen raped with multiple head wounds and hematomas. We did the best we can, internal bleeding and system shock were irreversible. Had she been found earlier, maybe she could have had a fair chance. What broke my heart is that she 6-weeks pregnant too, by her step dad. It was like a bitter lemon stuck in my throat.
The alcohol didn’t dull my pain, but you poem did. I am 27 today, and I thought I had seen it all. I will celebrate my birthday with those that really matter to me - my mom and dad, and my brothers.
Thank you for that lovely poem.

This is who Angelina Jolie is!

=================================
Wow. Thank you very much “$$$” for posting that. If not for you, I wouldn’t be able to have read this wonderful old article. I like the writer’s style in describing Angie (By Rachel Giese June 13, 2006). She was just stating what it is. What about her based on facts. She’s not criticizing her or patronizing Angie. Very objective. How I wish she writes more about her. I also like the letter/comment after the article found on the same site. To quote that said letter:
“Your article on Angelina Jolie was so well written, it put into clear words what opinion I was trying to form about her. I did not like her and did not know why. Perhaps it’s because she is so complex as a person that she is hard to pin down and somewhat scary. Perhaps it’s that she is so perfect. I now realize that she is a force to be recognized with, a fiercely independent woman who doesn’t care what others think, a blend between Mother Theresa (heart, hard working), Audrey Hepburn (beauty, grace under pressure, unselfishness) and a rock star (unconventional, fearless, brash). All in one package. Not bad.

Burlington, Ontario ”
For the letter-sender to come up with the realization that not to like her before without understanding why is not just enough reason. Angie’s complexity and so perfect persona makes him even realized that he cannot not like her
———————————————————————————————
ITA with the letter sender. Early on I too can’t figure it out why I didn’t like Ange but later realized the reason I didn’t care for her was because she is everything I want to be but am not. Now I adore her for all that she is, perfections and imperfections!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY  On My Own !!

life can be pretty harsh. I have a friend who’s an Ems Medic. It takes a special person to work in any medical field. Helping people who are injured is not for light weights because no matter how long you’ve been in that work, You can’t totally disconnect. It’s that compassion and wanting to help others that allows you to do what you do. You can have peace in knowing you did everything that could be done. You keep faith by knowing there are many more that you did save. Ultimately their lives do not belong to us.
While writing a response to you another I had the beginnings of another poem and decided to write it. Here it is, i hope you like it as well.
————————————————–
THE CALL
In the darkness we know the world to be
Who is inclined to share his humanity?
Can it be someone unwilling to share
Who exists in this world without a care?
Or one who has risen above the hurt and pain
One who can go forth as if ordained?
Who among us will answer the Call
When those who helpless and wounded fall
Will it be someone whose heart is cold
Or one with a compassionate hand to hold
Who will rise up and say ‘send me’
Who , tell me, will even hear his plea?
Who, when we travel this road called life
will make peace in the middle of all this strife?
Who will show empathy for their mountain of pain
Who’s willing to give, with nothing to gain?
can any of us be selfless, say it true
Who will answer the call, if not me or you?
Peace-
