Robert Downey Jr. Shines As Sherlock

Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan are out and about in New York City on Thursday.

It was recently announced that Downey, 43, will star as the British super sleuth Sherlock Holmes in a new mystery movie as directed by Mr. Madonna himself, Guy Ritchie.

Sherlock Holmes will be likely to be released sometime in 2009.

Marvel Studios and Jon Favreau have also reached a deal for Favreau to return to the director’s chair for Iron Man II.

The man is a mega talent.
lyric to a song he wrote and sings on one of his cd.
———————————-

In love with a broken heart
you fell in love with a broken heart

Love in these modern times
(There’ll be someone new every night
some other love yarn
To wrap my harms around
No one else can understand
(hold me) i cant hear you
(trust me) not about you

(Chorus)
In love with a broken heart
(think i leave today,i cover it all this way)-
You fell in love with a broken heart
(every earthly breath, a lifeless testimony)
In love with a broken heart
(dont you know)

Love in these modern times
I’ll become what your first class said
I’m no light weight, i’d find time to throw us down
You’d feel my medicine’s side effect
Fink i’ll grab some magazine
(i know you) never seen me
(promised you) you believed me?

(repeat chorus)

Oh please machine, let’s keep this terminal clean
I’ll see your face in every cloud
Down a Dewar’s laugh out loud
Fly girl shouts to keep it down
Paddy’s wagon draws a crowd

(save your days) i dont save days
(any way) i think…leave days

God grant me the strength to accept the things i can change
And change them
(just for the last time)

(show me) i cant miss you

He’s something else.

I really wish the name Guy Ritchie wasn’t attached to the project, in my opinion his movies are trash :/
Robert is looking foxy, lol.. I’ve liked him since Weird Science when I was like 2yrs old! His wife… I’m a bit surprised, but I’m sure she’s a winner if he picked her.

American Psycho
Requiem For a Dream
Reservoir Dogs
Chinatown
Clockwork Orange

Ya know.. stuff that doesn’t blow chunks like most of Guy Ritchies movies. Hope that answers your question “lucky” :)

Paige, I wanna make little film nerd babies with you! Great effing picks!

Paige, what choices of film! Except Clockwork Orange (too much violence), and Trainspotting (I throw up a lot because of it, especially the worst toilette in Scotland scene), I love your choices. Magnolia and 12 Monkeys are on the list of my favorite films.

May be you watched them already, but I recommend you to check Snacth and Lock, Stock, and two smoking barrel . Forget about Pitt’s accent, and everything will be fine. And oh, you would love to see Benicio Del Torro’s head under cosy (very British, I presume :- ) )

I do hope Guy can get away from Madonna’s shadow, because he is a good director!

And Nick, just because somebody has good taste in film, doesn’t mean that she/he is a nerd!

Hey Rien :) I did see Lock Stock.. and it made me all excited to see what he’d do next and since then it’s been a serious letdown, which perhaps has me a tad bitter towards his work. I saw potential and then I saw falling far below the bar. I wanted to like Snatch but just could not get into.. at all.

I also forgot Rules of Attraction and Pi lol.

The toilet scene in Trainspotting is wretched but so is the lifestyle Renton lives and I think it sets the tone for whats to come. The novel for Clockwork is lots worse, so I give massive kudos to Kubrick for not making some shock value film but at the same time showing just how sociopath/commonplace the violence in Alex’s life is.

“nerd” lol.. maybe I’m a closeted one ;) Most people would never assume I’m a film buff and would come for me for clothing advice way before movie suggestions. Just got done watching The Dreamers.. yum.

You are right about Guy, Paige! Too much touch of Madonna, afterward. She is a good singer, very tough business woman, but I don’t think she is a good film maker.

And about Ewan, I mean Renton, I still can not get over it. It is a little bit too much for me. But you are (again) right. The toilette scene is actually harmless against Renton’s way of live.

I watched The Dreamers (from Bertolucci, right?) Mon Dieu, Michael Pitt and Eva Green, just have a mercy on my soul! Steamy!!

And for the third time, you are right again. Kubrick was the master!

Hey, nice to know you!

A well informed opinion, thanks. =)

Anyway, I have liked a few of Guy’s films, including those already listed above, and I especially enjoyed the soundtrack for Snatch, but Madonna has truly cramped his style lately.

Preach Paige, preach
Guy Ritchie is one untalented fella imo so I hope this movie doesn’t suck =/

Thumb up Thumb down 0

Haha, glad to see I’m not the only who thinks so parisgirl and it’s nice to meet you too Rien :)

I think Guy Ritchie may have potential, I just haven’t really seen enough quality from him to know he has potential. We shall see, I suppose. Plus with Robert Downey Jr. casted, the project has a great start right there. He seems to really have his talent focused where it belongs and I would imagine he’ll offer his own input on how to get things right.

And yep Rien, I mean the Bertolucci movie. It is pretty steamy! Luckily they’re all eye candy status or that might be a bad thing.

Nick, I’m a closet “nerd” lol. So if you’re into that hipster girl, black framed glasses wearing type.. I’m definitely not up your alley. Sorry buster, you’ll have to keep looking for your baby mama at the viddy shop.

Robert is so sexy. I love his craziness haha. Yeah, keep posting about him.

I find that you may be both hot and have exquisite taste in film to be very exciting my dear. While not stereotypically nerdy, you’ll do ;)
