I just love these two, they are my favorite celebrities. You can say that I live for Brad and Angelina. I am sooo happy for them and I am also glad to hear that all is well with mother, father, and twins. I just hope that the press can give them the space that they deserve and asked for.
It is also good to hear that they are giving the money for the first pictures of the twins to chearty. I mean none of the other celeberities that have gotton money for their first baby pictures have given any of it to chairty.
So say what you want to say about Brad and Angelia but don’t say that they are selfihs or that they don’t care about other people. And at least they are putting the fact that they are famous to good use, other than just do what ever they want like most of the celebrities do.

..but they do have beautiful souls. Please try to be happy for them.

God blessed them with twins and even numbered kidds - 3 boys adn 3 girls - for all the children’s lives they have helped make better with their charitable donations. I truly believe this. Negative? Far from it my fellow fan, I am very happy for them. I just don’t understand why the Mayor has to advertise the birth certificate to the world. In my opinion, it is uncalled for. Period.

Ideally, people should be able to see this act by the mayor as something HE chose to do but that won’t be the case. Instead the moaners and groaners will be on the JPs case about seeking attention and whatnot.

we should be happy that the baby and the mother are doing fine. Lets celebrate babies are blessing and you will see the jolie pitt will the blessed more.

Not for twins. Most twins average 4.6 lbs when they are born. These twins were 5 lbs each. That’s a very good size.

Jared i was so excited and half asleep i forgot to thank you at 5 am this morning .I only read your site for info so thanks kindly for the wonderful news. I knew the day would come when you would tell us the hospital and People mag were backing up your statements.

I love the names and the reasons why. Knox is a strong robust powerful sounding name . Nothing babyish about Knox . Kind of like Fort Knox in Kentucky and the reasons why it was built..

Vivienne is an absolutely beautiful french name so pretty and graceful sounding. We almost knew in advance Angie would be calling their little girl after her late mother as a second name. And that she did with such dignity.

The children at home must be so excited too waiting for Mommy and Daddy to bring home their new brother and sister.
Even tho they were able to be with Mommy every day for a while it probably has been the longest time they have ever had their Mommy away from their home. They will celebrate Knox and Viviennes coming home party very soon. What an exciting day that will be.

Am I alone in hoping that they don’t sell the pics to a magazine? (I know in reality it’s probably sensible for them to do so cos 1. it gets money for charity & 2. it kind of relieves the pressure of the media wanting to see them asap & thus reduces the paparazzi stalking & they can have control over how their kids are photographed etc)

But I really want some big celebrity to have a kid & then just refuse, point blank the ridiculous amounts of money that these mags (that the rest of the time are spreading lies about said celebrity) throw about. Also these are 2 little babies, really we have no right to know what they look like or anything about them, they aren’t the celebrity (well yet anyway…maybe in a few years time they’ll take up acting or something). Note I’m not attacking the JPs for selling the pics, like Is aid it’s probably actually sensible for them to do so but I just wish one celebrity somewhere would make a point & just refuse the money on the grounds that really their kids have nothing to do with their job/celebrity status & we really shouldn’t know anything about them, especially when they’re that young. I’m hoping it’ll be like Halle Berry’s kid which we’re yet to see…keep the media hanging on for as long as humanly possible & see them sweat.

Knox was the middle name of Brad’s maternal grandfather (His mom was James Etta Hillhouse, her father was Hal Knox Hillhouse). Leon is the name of Angelina’s great-great grandfather

But the reality is that Brad & Angie are too big a commodity to the media. I felt the same way when I heard that …I think it was People…were willing to pay upwards of $16 million for the first pics of the babies. To me that is just insane. I mean, really….
Just keep in mind that Brad & Angie will donate the majority of the money, if not all of it, to worthy causes.
And Halle Berry is nowhere near as famous or in demand as Angelina so she doesn’t really have to worry about someone trying to break into her home or hospital room trying to get the first pics of her kid.
Anyway, I hope one of the kids has Angie’s eyes, wouldn’t that be too cute if one of them had Brad’s hair and Angelina’s eyes!

jjb, My first thought was that Knox was the name of some architect Brad admired. But then it was said it was the name of his maternal grandfather, I think that’s correct. I liked that. Now you present this article and it is wonderful because it could be both relative and an artist he respect and admires.

They don’t pick names out of the air. They select names that have history and meaning. A good name is worth its weight in gold. These are not shallow people and they don’t select shallow names.

OT: We have all seen Shiloh carrying and cuddling her doll babies. We all suspect Angie was getting her ready for the birth of her brother and sister. But I must say that she will probably choke them before she drops them as she definitely has a death grip on their heads.

Seriously, those of you going on and on about what the big deal is and/or other people have babies every day…just stop it LOL. Of course, other people have babies and/or twins all the time…those people are not famous though. And better yet, those people are not followed wherever they go. To be on a celebrity GOSSIP blog and state that the attention paid to celebrities (specifically this family) is silly, is indeed futile. If you believe there is something better to be spending time on, go do it!

Fans of this family will obviously gather to share news and talk about them. If you are not a fan or can’t stomach ‘the fuss’ being made, why come to their threads? Bottom line, the MEDIA is making a production over them and have for the past 3 1/2 years. I’m sure right about the time they go to leave the hospital, the last thing they’ll want are bunches of cameras in their faces. If they were whoring out this event, BP would have made the trek to city hall amongst the cameras, showing his pearly whites as the friggin’ mayor showed his son’s birth notice. Exactly. Except…we all know the tabs are gonna write some drama into it on Wednesday. US & People won’t, but Star, NE, OK and the Bauer rags? Hellz yeah. Star/NE will claim it that preeclampsia was the “medical reason” it was moved forward. The Baeur rags will most likely list multiple unnamed sources who give different reasons. And OK who knows what OK will come up with. It depends on how badly they want the photos. If they’re still in the hunt, they’ll play nice and try to stick to facts. If they’ve lost the bid, then expect sensationalism.

Personally I think the photo sale is a done deal - Peeps wins hands down. OK’s pitch was for GLOBAL RIGHTS. Peeps was probably for North America or TimeWarner pubs only, which means B/A would still be able to sell the rights to other foreign markets. The last time Peeps was able to make money by re-selling the photos to other publications, mainly newspapers. Plus, if OK tried to make a deal with B/A like they did with McConnaughey & Alba, then they’ll lose simply because they’re asking for not just first photos but a second set of photos at a major holiday later int he ear - either Thanksgiving or X-mas. Brad & Angie aren’t going to for that crap, so it’ll be interesting to find out if that was part of OK’s offer to them.

WOO HOO! Heard the great news this morning but just finally getting a chance to pop in and post - CONGRATULATIONS to the Jolie-Pitts and *CHEERS* to all the amazing fans celebrating around the world! :D

As a fraternal twin myself, I couldn’t be more thrilled for them! Along with all their lovely older siblings, Knox and Vivienne have a built-in best friend for life, and will always share a special bond :-)

Angelina and Brad are going to have a blast when these two get a bit older and are giggling and chatting away to each other in their own little ‘twin-speak’, before they start talking ‘properly’.

To clarify some of the questions I’ve seen above:

Yes, twins have their own umbilical cords (it’s the life line to the baby in utero - and have you ever seen a human without a belly button???)

Also, I was born 8 minutes after my brother - birth times between twins can vary by even more than that.

Sure, 5 lbs is small, but I was 4 lbs, 3 ounces, and my brother was slightly larger - we were in incubators for a few weeks and my brother was able to come home first because he was bigger.

The JP’s are in more than capable hands, guaranteed, and I’m sure that Knox and Vivienne are being well looked after by all.

How lovely it will be when the twins are ready to leave the hospital and they can all be together!! Can’t wait to see the pics!

Whew! This has been such an incredible night and day, and loving every second of it. So happy for Brad and Angie and the rest of the Jolie Pitts.

As to the oft repeated question: “why is there such a big to-do about the birth of these twins?” Simple, their parents happen to be Brad and Angellina!

5 lbs is average for a twin. I am girl, 5′8″ and my mum is 5′9″. She had 5 pregancies within 5 years and 9 months time frame between the age of 20 and 26 years old.

I am the eldest and I was born with 2,62 kilograms, which is 5, 78 lbs…in due time, didn’t stayed in some incubator and was off with my mum 24 hours later.

My mother had the model type kinda body, size2 and always had little babies who were tall and leggy more than super chubby. She had very small pregnancies just like Kidman that people sometimes didn’t notice she was indeed expecting until she reached the last month or last two weeks…

Oh and having two sisters and two brothers, i am the smallest at 5′8″ with the youngest, a boy at 6′5″…though we were all born under 3 kilograms in due term.

Like I said 5 lbs is average for a twin, some woman have a single child born with that weight or a little more, children who are not born premature. It’s all genetics.

“My sister was beaten in the street for not covering all the way up,” says 30-year-old Masooda Omar. “I remember going out with shoes that showed the back of my feet. I felt someone slapping the back of my feet, and I turned around to see five men with guns shouting at me to cover up.”

Until five years ago, Masooda lived in Afghanistan, where she was terrorized by the Taliban and constantly in fear for her and her daughter’s lives. She was forced to leave her hometown of Kabul, and fled north to Mazar e Sharif to escape the violently fundamentalist Islamic group. But it wasn’t long before the Taliban traveled north to where Masooda had settled. That was when, tired of running, she decided to take a more drastic step.

Masooda’s family had moved to the United States seven years earlier with the help of the International Rescue Committee, a nonprofit humanitarian relief program with an office here in Atlanta. Though it was an intimidating move, Masooda decided it was time to do the same. The application process was long and laborious, but six months later Masooda and her 5-year-old daughter, Sunia, had resettled in Georgia and started a new life.

Recently, celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt donated $1 million to various charities, including $200,000 to the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Although the donation primarily goes toward rebuilding schools in Iraq that have been destroyed during the war there, “Brangelina”’s contribution has brought attention to a program that probably would have otherwise gone unnoticed by Atlantans.

“I really appreciate [Angelina] because of her humanitarian work. She gets a great deal of my respect for what she is doing,” says Masooda.

The Atlanta branch of the IRC has been helping displaced refugees since 1979. The program works in conjunction with the U.S. State Department to sponsor and provide special forms of visas to refugees when living in their home countries has become too dangerous.

In order to be resettled through the IRC program, applicants must be legitimately recognized as refugees, meaning they have to have fled their country as a result of war or persecution. After an applicant is recognized as a legitimate refugee, a case is built by the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees). Applicants are interviewed multiple times by both UNHCR and State Department staff to make sure they meet the resettlement criteria.

“There is a rigorous screening process for everyone,” says Ellen Beattie, regional director of the Atlanta office of the IRC.

Resettlement cases are then presented to Customs and Immigration Services, and security checks are administered, followed by a scrupulous health screening. The IRC program must accept all cases beforehand, but according to Beattie, that’s almost never a problem. Once applicants are cleared to travel, they are required to take out a loan from the International Organization of Migration (IOM) to fund their resettlement, and in some cases, apply for an exit visa in order to leave their home countries.

“It took 45 days to get my visa, which is totally abnormal,” says Masooda, explaining that refugees are normally granted visas more quickly. “All in all, the entire process took five months from the day I applied.”

Once refugees come to the U.S., they undergo more health screenings and fill out more paperwork before being assigned to a caseworker and moved into a modestly furnished apartment. Over the next few days, refugees are signed up for English as a Second Language classes and shown around their new city by IRC volunteers.

“When someone applies for the program, it usually means they are very determined and deserving of resettlement. They tend to be extremely resilient survivors with tremendous optimism and persistence,” says Beattie.

From there, refugees are assisted with job searches, social adjustments and computer literacy programs. There is a resettlement store located on the bottom level of the IRC office on Memorial Drive, where refugees shop for clothes and other accessories that have been donated by various organizations. Refugee children are enrolled in local schools and given study supplies. The IRC also provides after-school programs such as tutoring and activities for families with children.

“Usually school is interrupted for these kids, and they are suffering from academic gaps. Our goal is to get them back on track,” says Beattie. “We want them to succeed.”

The IRC is extremely successful in accomplishing that goal. Masooda’s daughter Sunia, who is now 10, not only speaks English but is becoming proficient in Spanish.

Before fleeing Afghanistan, Masooda herself was a student at Polytechnical Institute of Kabul. When the Taliban invaded her city, they stamped out most of the freedom that women had previously enjoyed. Masooda had to drop out of school and was forced to start wearing a full burqa—a covering that hides a woman’s hair, face and entire body.

“It was horrible. I almost fell so many times because I couldn’t see in front of me. I wasn’t used to that,” says Masooda, who has told Sunia all about her life in forced fundamentalism.

“My daughter understands why we left [Afghanistan]; I tell her stories because I want her to know what happened,” she says.

When asked her opinions about the current situation in Afghanistan, Masooda says that she feels good about the American military presence there because there is a dire need for soldiers to provide some semblance of security and order. But even when the strife ends, she says it will take time for Afghanistan to achieve stability. She believes that it will take more than one generation for Afghans to get used to living without war.

Welcome to Wal-Mart

Masooda’s first job in the states put her in constant contact with the public, though she had not had much experience with Americans. The culture shock was immediate and vivid.

“My first job when I came to America was at Wal-Mart. I hated it!” Masooda exclaims.

After Wal-Mart, she became an on-call translator for the IRC. A few years later, she was promoted to assistant case manager, and now she works full time as lead job developer.

“I help new refugees find jobs and adjust to working in America,” she says.

As a job developer, Masooda also helps refugees write resumes, fill out applications and prepare for interviews.

Beattie says 95 percent of refugees are self-sufficient within six months of their relocation, but the third month is the most critical.

“Anywhere from six to 12 weeks, [refugees] are going to have the most contact with their caseworker and job developer, because they are getting settled into a new job and beginning to maintain salary,” she says.

After a year in the U.S., refugees are eligible for a green card, and after five years they can apply for citizenship. In both endeavors, IRC staffers assist in completing applications. Because the IRC helps refugees file taxes, during tax season the IRC office resembles an accountant’s office, with refugees bringing in payroll checks, tax forms and lots of questions.

The logistics of resettling—among them, how to find work and fulfill duties like paying taxes—are difficult for anyone who leaves everything she knows to start over. But most refugees consider living in peace, with freedom to make choices for themselves, worth the hardships they face getting to the U.S. and fitting in.

“I don’t miss my country. I’ve always been an independent-minded person. I have that luxury here, whereas my culture limits independence [in Afghanistan],” says Masooda, who lives in Tucker, where she purchased a home two years ago.

“I am very proud of myself for raising an incredible daughter and having a job I really like,” she says. “I have accomplished a lot more than I could imagine.”

Leaving her office, I notice two large dry-erase boards filled with names, dates and countries. More than 30 new refugee families are expected to arrive in Atlanta within the next month. SP

The entire brouhaha the French have made is the main reason I was so annoyed at ET’s insistance that Angie had given birth in May. This is EXACTLY the same thing that happened in Namibia, but on a larger scale. Every dignitary who had a chance to be see with Brad & Angie was there in a millisecond. There was a big deal made out of the official birth certificate going through proper channels and Shiloh being made a citizen of Namibia.for the last 3 1/2 years everybody who could get a piece of Brad & Angie has done just that and run with the opportunity. Why would ET have expected less of France? The hubris on ET’s part was mindboggling. Everyone else was wrong and they were right. Amazing. And now they’ve got more than egg on their faces. They’ve got the whole chicken!

The Shiloh pix were taken when she was 7 days old and on the newsstand when she was around 2 weeks old. The date of her Peeps cover is June 19, 2006, which means it hit the streets on June 15 or 16. Shiloh was born May 27.

Besides - this is a completely different situation. The doctor has said Angie will most likely be in the hospital longer than the 3 days most American hospitals keep new mothers. Actually, that’s being generous. I had a friend who had her kid on a Friday afternoon and was home by lunch-time on Saturday and her hubby joked, “Hey, honey, what are you making for lunch today.” She DID NOT laugh.

Anyhoo…like I said in the previous post - don’t expect until at least the week of July 21. That would be the July 28 issue of Peeps. If it ain’t Peeps I’ll be shocked. I don’t think they’ll go with the highest bidder. They’ll go with the most reputable - despite what the so-called expert analysts think. If they go with OK, then they’re starting down a slippery slope of consorting with tabloids that I really don’t think they want to take. They’ve gone out of their way to keep themselves above the bottom-feeding world of the tabloids and while Peeps is certainly more tabloidish these days, they still have TimeWarner, Inc at their back.

Don’t underestimate the appeal of legitimacy over money. This is just like what happened with Shiloh when all the tabs bid…and they went with Peeps. The tab editors & publishers were pissed because they said it was a farce because Brad and Angie reserved the right to refuse the highest bidder if the winner didn’t meant their lofty standards. Anybody who thinks OK is going to get these pix needs to give the bong back to X and The Urinator.

I wasn’t gonna say anything about that A/H JV BUT this man is a piece of fr*gging work. For the folks who feel sooooo sorry for him and feels that AJ needs to be chummy as soon as possible and he should see the kids right awy; HOW IN HAVENS IS THE INSIDER GONNA SEND HIS LOVE TO ANGIE AND THE KIDS. DOES THE INSIDER HAVE ANGIE’S CELL PHONE # or he thinks the fake Holly is gonna help him out since they had a relationship with them and ET.

The jerk has been seen out and about with Jamie (his son/Anige’s brother) right, so it would stand to reason that he at least has Jamie’s cell-phone # or the very least his email address, sooooo if he REALLY wanted to send his LOVE to Angie the best person for that would be Jamie right, since you know. he is in the fr*gging South of France where Angie is.

If he couldn’t get ahold of Jamie…he could always call Geyer K. There are 3 people in the world who are always going to know where Angie is - Brad, James and Geyer. If he can’t reach Angie or James directly, then call Geyer. If he can’t reach Geyer, then call Bryan Lourds at CAA or Cynthia Pett-Dante. IF he didn’t already know, then there’s no way in hell that someone who’s been someone in show biz as long as JV would not be able to find out who Brad’s agent, manage or publicist were. There are far too many ways for JV to send a message to Angie for him to be saying to some ignorant ass SYNDICATED, not even network, TV SHOW to send his daugher his love. If that doesn’t scream “drama queen” I don’t know what does.

Not quite. They only posted one twin’s certificate and it doesn’t give any information about the other twin. But I agree that the mayor would not have shown the birth certificate if Angie and Brad hadn’t okayed it, for the reason you mentioned.

CONGRATIS, Now Ange and Brad have two more petit amores to blend into their team! I’m sooo relieved that all is well, and babies were healthy, as well as Angie. I imagine she was quite uncomfortable at the end, and I know exactly how that feels since all 3 of my babies were over 10 lbs, 8oz, about the same combined total of those twins. You just run out of room after a while! They’ll be in fine shape at 5lbs. Whew..now back home with six children!

And for the paps–Let them have peace, they will share photos when they want to, no use going mad. Just give them time! Especially after surgery, it would be terrible to stalk the family in such a disrespectful way. I wish those people would be reasonable about that…

So, again, congratulations, and a big warm welcome to this world for Vivienne and Knox!!!
