Yes, Yes, JJ about time too. Another thread and this clip is really really one of my favourite scenes. Troy looks tormented and Gabriella sings in such a sweet, clear and pure voice to give him encouragement. Wish it would have lasted a little bit longer. Really felt the emotion and chemistry.

I definitely noticed a whole different feel with this trailer!! It’s SO big screen, looks like it has lavish dance numbers, and seemed larger than life!!! I thought it would be reallly hard to top the fun, campy quality of the first 2 movies, but this trailer looks amazing!! Musicals are on their way back!! I’m so sick of the sad reality of violence in our society. Bring on the fun of sitting back and just enjoying a movie for the music, the dancing, and the chemistry of it’s cast!! Can’t wait!!

I cant wait to see this movie with my kids!!! As usual, Zac and Vanessa are so adorable, there is really something between these two that really click, they seem so real to me…………… and very much inlove and supportive of each other. When you listen and read their interviews, there is always that mutual admiration, and they don’t flaunt it around. …………………………..that is why I am a fan.

I saw that yesterday. Though I think these movies are so cheesy and lame, I’m looking forward for it anyway. But I hope it’s the last HSM movie and that after that Vanessa can move on, away from Disney.

ZAshleyluver, it’s great you’re an Ashley fan, but why do you want to see her with Zac so badly? She’s a big girl, and makes her own choices, and that includes who she spends her time with. If you honestly think about it, Ashley would NEVER date him since he has been with her BF for 3 years. It’s just not something a good friend would do. Plus, don’t you think they are like brother and sister at this point after doing 3 movies together? I think Ashley looks like she adores Jared M. and have their own litlle chemistry going there! Gaggifying—Thank g*d for Ashley Tisdale-she will make this bearable-her importance in these “films” is so underrated.
As for the “realistic” couple connection between Zanessa, look again-if anything they look embarassed to be so intimate…perhaps because there really isn’t that magical relationship everyone harps on.

Excatly if people don’t want to know about HSM3 then all they have todo is find something that does interest them nobody is forced to come here and comment it’s purley everyone’s choice.

This one look’s brilliant and a great way to end it with the original cast on the big screen, love all the trailer’s so far and as always it look’s like they had a blast.

As you say with Gabriella saying that to Troy about being better at saying goodbyeshe would find it easier to say but then in another clipwhen she’s running her finger’s through his hair she look’s so sad, so although she has had more practice this time is different after everything they have been through and how much Troy means to her.

2) I just went back and read this entire thread. There was about one negative comment about Ashley. In fact most of the comments were positive toward her and complimenting the movie AND her scenes. So why are you trying to stir up trouble where there is none.

charlene, I think, honestly, that you’re just being a little sensitive, because you’re an Ashley fan who likes to hang around here too. I’m not saying it’s wrong, but I do agree that Sharpay had a much larger role in the second movie. It was all about summer at her family’s resort, and the plot revolved around her trying to get Troy. It was the MAIN plot in the movie. Simple fact. That doesn’t mean Gabriella didn’t have a storyline as well, but it was definitely smaller than Sharpay’s.

I was also hoping in HSM 3, that the story would not revolve around Sharpay, since the last one did. I just want to see more of ALL the other storylines and characters develop, and not have the entire plot about SHarpay still wanting to get Troy. I don’t think it looks that way, thankfully. And charlene, that doesn’t mean I don’t like ASHLEY….just that I don’t want to see the same plot again.

I also have wondered about Zac and Vanessa filming six days beyond when the others finished up and if the last day of filming was actually the last day that Ashley and Corbin were their and finished up - the previous Thursday to Zac and V finishing on Tuesday morning 7/1. We know Zac and Vanessa finished then because Vanessa said so in her interviews and flew out later that night to New York. We the “wrap up party” actually the last day Corbin and Ashley were there? I also think the scenes Zac and Vanessa filmed at the very end may not be in the trailer at all at this point.

It’s only a trailer yet I can’t suppress my excitement any longer! Troy and Gabi singing to each other Now or Never in the gym for me is just to die for! It’s so sweet!

All the characters in HSM and HSM2 were instrumental to the story. But what made HSM and HSM2 the worldwide phenomena they are today?

Two major things:
1. The love story between Troy and Gabriella.
2. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens who played those roles.

Yeah for Kenny Ortega who knows magic when he sees it.

#271 Okay I’m not trying to be condescending here but from the beginning, “High School: Musical” has largely been Troy and Gabriella’s story. The first one was the story of two kids the jock and and the brain breaking out of the roles high school culture has assigned to them.

“HSM2″ was about whther or not Troy would remain true to himself or give in to the temptation Sharpay was throwing at him. How it affected his relationship with Gabriella was the hardest hit.

I’m sorry but Ryan, Chad and Taylor are in NO WAY shape or form “Lead” characters . This is not a comment on the talents of Lucas Grabbel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman. This is the way the characters are written in the script. There ARE three leads Troy, Ryan and Sharpay. Ryan did break out of his sister’s shadow and devleop a backbone which was an important part of the story of “HSM2″ I’ll grant you that.

But we know NOTHING about Chad and Taylor no wait we learned that Taylor has an older sister which was mentioned in passing. But so far they exist as sources of both conflict and support for Troy and Gabriella. That’s their role they are the best friends in to the MAIN characters. I understand that Corbin’s real father has been cast as Chad’s dad so I’m assuming Chad will have more prominence. But so far he is NOT a lead character at all.

That’s great that its the music and other characters are the main appeal to you. And I don’t deny the other characters make important contributions to the success of “HSM.” I can’t imagine it without Corben, Monique, Olyessa and all the other supporting cast. But the way story is structured the story IS primarily about Troy and Gabriella. That may not personally be your favorite part but that’s just the way it is.

Agreed, Troy, By no means were Chad and Taylor lead roles in HSM1. As a matter of fact they weren’t as MAJOR as Sharpay and Ryan were. Neither Corbin or Monique even recorded with the others, they only had parts singing with the group of characters—even Chris Warren and KayCee Stroh had a tiny “solo” in HSM1. I believe the writers tried to fix their slight of Corbin and Monique in HSM2 considering both of them played the best friends of the LEADS characters Troy and Gabriella. It gave the movie a whole new and better dynamic.

In the first movie—which is a love story and that is why we have two LEAD actors, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens—and with any good love story you need conflict or antagonists which is supplied by the characters of Sharpay and Ryan. Corbin and Monique’s roles were considered MAJOR just as Ashley and Lucas’ were but still they weren’t that major. Then you had four wonderful SUPPORTING actors.

People were hooked on the two lovers, Troy and Gabriella and that’s what led to HSM2. And people were knocked on their butts with the chemistry of Zac and Vanessa before they even knew they were an item. People fell in love with Ashley Tidsdale as the meanie but the truth is she didn’t really start being noticed and getting so much attention until around Christmastime when she was hanging out with Vanessa so much. If you think I’m wrong go to the archives here on JJ and see just how many threads she garnered before that. It was Zac and Vanessa who were being watched, not Ashley. As a matter of fact, Ashley and Jared were in Hawaii last year too for a vacation but there were no threads or news about them like there was this year. That’s just the facts. There is nothing wrong with Ashley or any of the other characters but the two true leads in this love story is Zac and Vanessa. Then we do have our major characters and then the supporting players. And i will say that these movies could not have proceeded without ANY of them. Even Zac said there could never have been a HSM3 unless they all would have agreed to do it. But it goes without saying that IF Zac or Vanessa had not agreed to do it, Disney would never have proceeded with a big screen version of this movie.

Believe me, there is a reason Disney flew Zac and Vanessa to wherever in a private jet and did not do it for any of the others. You may say “the other didn’t need a private jet to be able to get away”—my point exactly.

I’m am so excited about this movie. Oct. can not get here fast enough. I can see why they call them “teaser’s”, that is a very good name for them.
Troy & Gabriella do bring their on going, may I say young love, that has been tried and is now tested, as far as we can see, that is until the movie comes out. I hope they stay together and stay strong. I have so many other thoughts for the other characters and who they are to be with. Plus,
we can’t forget who is chosen to go to JULLIARD!

I’m a great big fan of Zac and Vanessa and their off screen love that they now have for each other that has grown over these movies comes out in their characters. They had chemistry in the beginning, which Zac said, ” it was fate”, and Vanessa followed up with, ” it was written in the stars”, shows us all that there is love between these two young people. This is what stands out in their characters.

Everyone of cast are very special and bring so much to these movie-musicals. I wish there were more of them today. It seems we have lost something that entertainment needed for such along time and have replaced it with some shows and cartoons, you know what I mean, those of the evening that a lot of children watch.

hsm is a wonderful dancing and singing show and those 2 things have always attracted me to shows. I love musicals on tv, film and at the theater.

The love story between Troy and Gabriella is the main plot in both HSM and HSM2 and will continue in HSM3. Yes, there are antagonists and supporting characters and they get a lot of air time depending on the plot in the story.. The characters are important to the story and it’s development and theu can be loved and hated by many - some may love these characters more than the Lead Characters.

Personally I really like Taylor’s role and friendship to Gabriella (after a bumpy start in HSM).

Zac and Vanessa do a great job portraying Troy and Gabriella and their chemistry and their connection have endeared themselves to many and has actually brought in new fans. People are already talking about the “trailer” around my “neck of the woods” and are very excited to see the movie in October but the ones being talked about as the Leads are Troy and Gabriella and their “plotline”.

I don’t understand how anyone could think Troy and Gabriella are anything but the lead characters. They’re what it’s all about, they keep people coming back. :]

Now the reason for this, I am shy of the tween set by a few years, but I love this series. And for me the big pull has always been Zac and Vanessa, from the beginning their love has shone through, and it is beautiful to see. I was a little upset they lied about it for so long, but once it set in that it was for privacy reasons, I completely understood.

They have been together for, well adding it up it will be 3 years next month (if they did start dating in Aug. of ‘05) and maybe that’s why their vac is lasting so long. It’s coming up on their anniversary and it ’s probably very romantic and a big milestone for them, for any Hollywood couples these days its a milestone.

Anyway, I really can’t wait for the movie. I’ve already said I’m going to cry at the end, this is the last we’ll see of ‘Troyella’. But may, by God’s will, it’s only another chapter in the Zanessa romance novel!

At the start of the first scene in HSM1 movie is showing Troy playing basketball with his dad, and then his mother walks in. The next scene shows Gabriella relaxing and reading a book on a couch in the lobby of the ski resort, and then her mother steps in to stop her from finishing the book. The third scene shows both Troy and Gabriella in the Kids/Teens New Year’s Eve party, and then up on stage singing together. Those three scenes are the introduction, main subject, and main thesis to what HSM is focusing on, which is Troy and Gabriella. Therefore, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad, Taylor, and the rest of the Wildcats are just supporting roles.

Even to reading most of the national film critics…they even mention that HSM1 is better than HSM2. The film critics only mention about HSM2 was that songs, singings, and dancings performances were the only things that save the movie. HSM1 has been nominated for 16 awards and won 8 awards. HSM2 has been nominated for 5 awards and won only 2 awards.

The story line started with the love interests development of Troy and Gabriella. That should of carry over to HSM2. Having Sharpay trying to manipulate Troy from Gabriella in HSM2, which is fine. However, they should have written more regarding how the friendship relation develop between Ryan and the Wildcats, as well as, Ryan and Gabriella. Especially Chad and Ryan developing into closer bonded friend between those two. They also should have write in on how much Gabriella missing Troy, and how she feel being away from him. They could have shown Taylor and Chad conforting Gabriella missing Troy, and letting her know that they will always be her friends. They could have taken same those golfing scenes out and fitted something to do with the Wildcats instead. My opinion is that HSM2 was too much Sharpay. I figure that Ashley is really part of Disney, because she is on Suite Life as Maddie since 2004; therefore, it is only right that she should get more screening time than Vanessa. Vanessa isn’t really a Disney person before HSM, because she was doing other projects such as Thunderbirds. Vanessa started showing in 4 episole of Suite Life after HSM1. This is my opinion, which I may be wrong.

HSM1 has more of a plot to it, and it does keep you on the edge to see if Troy and Gabriella are going to be an item. Throughout HSM1, there is an edge that keep you watching, because awaiting on the development of the love relationship between Troy and Gabriella.

HSM2 is that you could figure and already know what Sharpay is going to do next, and how it is going to end. You already know that Sharpay is going to do her dirty little spoil trick and use her family money to buy Troy as her puppet and toy. And it does get boring seeing that. The good parts of HSM2 are the songs, dances, and the kissing scene of Troy and Gabriella.

In Camp Rock, there is a mean girl in that movie. And she is much more nastier and meaner than Sharpay, however, at the end of the movie she was punished for hurting people. You could see her being punished with tears. In HSM2, Sharpay did not get punished at all, except she was rewarded by doing the show with the Wildcats. For Disney movies that are shown to kids, there should be more harsh punishment for Sharpay behavior towards the Wildcats. She was the one that told Mr. Felton about Troy and Gabriella out on the golf course and swimming in the pool (it was written in the Junior Novel book). She even ordered Mr. Felton to change the tradition of not having the staff participate in the talent show, which represents cheating so that she automatically win. So kudos to Camp Rock for that. If you deceit and cheat that constitute punishment, however, that is letting me know that it is okay for a person to be that way.

Ashley Tisdale does a very good job of Sharpay, however, the whole HSM story line is about Troy and Gabriella. Zac and Vanessa characters are Troy and Gabriella, and the majority of the movie should be on those two. The story tells how Troy and Gabriella trying to do something different than being a jock or honor student, and how their friends perceptions and accepting their change of activities or goals. HSM1 also tells how Troy’s friends, especially Chad, accept Gabriella in Troy’s life and how other group of kids accepting her as well. And how she is fitting in at the new school and new city as the new girl in town. Lucas as Ryan should have as much or more scenes than Ashley. Disney need to write some romance development between Ryan and Kelsi or Martha, and Chad and Taylor romance development as well. Hopefully in HSM3 will do just that.

I am a first timer on JJ. I started following High School Musical’s casts after watching both movies on Disney because of my granddaughter loves Disney Channel. After watching High School Musical…I been on all High School Musical websites and other celebrities/Hollowood websites on keeping up with the High School Musical’s casts current and upcoming projects that are in line for them. Especially Vanessa and Zac…I really enjoy watching these two together because both are amazing actors and people. I am looking forward to High School Musical 3.

I like the cast of hsm, I think they’re all talented and I hope they’ll be up for the best ensemble cast as they mesh very well together and all contributed to making hsm what it is today.

However, for me, the main draw is Troy and Gabriella and their love story. Their chemistry and how it’s played out distinguishes hsm from the myriads of teen romantic comedies out there. They are the leads and central to the movie, that’s why they presented the official trailer. I don’t see why anyone should have a problem with that.

What I was trying to point out on thread #308, is that HSM should be mainly focus on Troy and Gabriella. The whole story line started with Troy and Gabriella, which the Zac and Vanessa should be filmed most or nearly all of the HSM movies. HSM2 was very disappointing to me, because they did not film Vanessa as much. HSM2 over kill with Sharpay, which was very boring to watch; eventhough, Ashley did a good job in acting the part, but it was way too much Sharpay.

It is Troy and Gabriella/Zac and Vanessa chemistries that made the HSM success. Zac and Vanessa are the lead actor and actress in HSM movies. Both their presents should be on nearly all the scenes of each HSM movies.

#314 fan, I’m sure that Kenny Ortega heard all the complaints about HSM2 and made sure he didn’t repeat that same mistake in HSM3. Let’s hope he is that wise.

Actually, in HSM1, Gabriella is shown reading her book before Zac is shown playing basketball with his dad. But not matter, the point is, they were meant to be the focal point and they were shown from the beginning of the movie. For me, the golf scenes in HSM2 were just overdone and way too long and boring. That basically was the only thing I found really boring and slow. I thought the Humhum song was funnier than the Fabulous number but I wondered if the Humhum number got pulled not just because it was rather silly but because it was soooo obviously too much of Sharpay. If at the end of HSM3 people say it was mostly focused on Troy and Gabriella at least it will have been on the main characters.

I don’t think they probably got home before today because IF they were seen outside in any way—Vanessa showing up at her parents, the paps would know it and the WHOLE world would know it too. And I doubt we will see Vanessa at the Espy awards. It isn’t like Zac is being nominated for some award like with MTV. Zac is only presenting an award and it is a sports thing, isn’t it? I just don’t think they will be together at this function considering they have been together for the past 3 months. I may be pleasantly wrong but that’s my feeling about it.

Ha ha, why feel the need to defend a fictional character Charlene? The poster was just comparing a fictional villiain from Camp Rock to that from HSM. Ashley is still Ashley. It is about a moral message to the viewers. Charlene, Charlene, there’s just too many words in your post and I usually skim over them as I know it inevitably is about Ashley. I’m starting to agree that these two “scamps” may have indeed returned to LA unnoticed…..Zac said he has learned to get around the paps some…..and we know they are not going to ’stroll through LAX’ like others returning from their vacations for everyone to see……they left through a small airport on a private jet…….they may have returned in the dark of night and snuck back home in that dark car of Zacs. They may be back and laughing at their success in avoiding the paps…..and us too, of course!!

I guess we will know tomorrow night when Zac shows up for the award ceremony that they did indeed make it back……I would not be surprised at this point if that’s how it plays out.

If they are back though, I am kind of surprised that we have not seen Vanessa out going to work on her tour preps though….it’s all a guess though at this point.

I think one of the problems here isn’t that you defend Ashley but on this particular thread there has not really been any insulting of her. For people to say they do not want to see so much of Ashley in HSM3 isn’t insulting her. They point out she is a good or funny actress so that isn’t insulting her. We were drawn to HSM because of the love story between Troy and Gabriella. The other characters did SUPPORT that story whether or not they had a MAJOR part in that story or not. The basis of HSM was how these two beautiful young people had this instant attraction to one another even though they were so different and how that “coupling” had an impact on 8 other people—it brought out jealousy in some, changes in thinking for others, and got creative juices flowing in some more. Their relationship and dynamics drove everything else in the movie.

So back to your defense of Ashley, just because someone says they want to see more Zac and Vanessa in HSM3 and less of Ashley that is really not an insult to her. And yes, we defend Zac and Vanessa but when you read comments about how someone has called Vanessa some obscene name or said something vulgar about her or some little girl posts naked pictures of Zac that are obviously photoshopped then THAT is insulting and should get a defense from fans. But let it be known that Ashley has been defended on these threads many times when truly ugly and false stuff have been posted about her. I think people have gotten the message and that is why we don’t see that much printed against her on these threads anymore. Of course with me saying that we are bound to get someone now who thinks they are cute and will post some insulting comment—it never fails.

Thanks kiera for the update. I knew I had read a few months ago that there was going to be a new DVD from HSM2 out sometime in September but I forgot just when. I’m excited since the first time I read about this DVD it said one of the things it would have would be the making of You Are the Music in Me—Troy and Gabriella’s version and also the I Got to Go My Own Way. Since we didn’t get this on the HSM2 DVD released earlier then I was very excited.

I am not not defending Sharpay per say I am just saying that yes Sharpay did get punished for what she did. What did she get? NOTHING. She lost the boy, she lost the show, heck she even lost her brother. He betrayed her to help the wildcats. Sharpay was reduced to tears from this. Do you not feel bad for the girl at all always losing to troy and gabriella? You can still love troyella but feel bad for Sharpay. I understand that there will of course be a focus on Troy and Gabriella in the third moie I have no problem with that. What I woudl have a problem with is if they get all the songs and Sharpay gets one. That seems like major troyella overkill if you ask me. I think that since it is the last one and on the big screen they have to show all the storylines eaqually and I really hope they do that. Af for hsm2 I do agre that the golf scenes may have been a bit longer however all the rest of it was genious. I do agree however that they should not have got the part where taylor gave gabi her necklace back as that was essencial to the plot.

it does not irritate me that Chad,Ryan and Taylor are not main charachters. it irritates me that they are main charachters and people like you can not see that, They are very essential to the plot and it is often annoying when in particular they forget to mention lucas when announcing the other five. why is that as he has a larger part than monique and corbin but they still mention them? please someone explain it to me. thank you

Why does everyone seem to fast forward ashleys parts? she is essential to the plot and also her part is not just to provide obstacles for the wildcats but also to get to know her as a person. get to the inner core of sharpay. Perhaps that is why I felt bad for her because I actually payed attention and understood what made her tick.

From what I have read all your comments regarding HSM…it has been all Sharpay. You have not touch on the facts or complements regarding Troy, Gabriella, Taylor, Chad, Ryan, and the rest of the Wildcats. All you have mentioning is that Sharpay should be the one and only main star in HSM.

You might have been confuse about Ashley not being recognized for her acting. Most everyone here have commented that Ashley did a fantastic job on being Sharpay. You need not to worry about Ashley not getting attention. Ashley is doing great…Picture This starting Ashley Tisdale…she will be starting in another movie called They Came From Upstair that will be out shortly…and she is schedule to film “Teen Witch”. I am looking forward to seeing her in those movies.
