Brad Pitt: “I’m The Happiest Father Ever”
After the birth of his beautiful baby twins, Brad Pitt met with the mayor of Nice and kept repeating to him, “I’m the happiest father ever.”
Mayor Christian Estrosi, who visited Brad and Angelina Jolie in their hospital room, told the local newspaper Nice-Matin, “[Brad] told me we chose one of the best hospitals in the world, one of the best doctors, one of the best medical teams. And also the most beautiful bay in the world.”
The twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, were born Saturday at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France. According to Nice-Matin, the babies spent Saturday night in Angie’s room and she took care of them by herself.
Angie’s obstetrician, Dr. Michel Sussmann, updated People about Angie’s recovery and her newborns: “They are all very well, very well. Everything is okay.”

Any body here got RAID.. so we can get rid of this pesky mosquito??Don’t want to get a deadly desease like malaria/dengue fever or elephantitis.
All the best to Angelina and the babies. I am thinking about poor Jennifer. I would not like to be in her shoes now.
MAJOR OFF-TOPIC:

LOL! at the “floating coffin” shipping lines contributing to marine life and the environment. I’m sure Green Peace aint happy about the undeclared endosulfan (pesticide) aboard the sunken vessel. The fish ban (along Sibuyan) and most people’s fears of eating fish stems from possible contamination of the poison.
If you’ve seen reports on the long lines of people everyday to buy 2 kilos of NFA rice, its really disheartening. But though Filipinos may lament about the difficult life, but you see them go on and tighten their belt and make the best out of it. Just like what you said, they alternate or mix boild rice with root crops like sweet potatoes (camote) and cassava and the likes. But enterprising middlemen also increase the price of camote and corn prices are also high.
I actually eat fish despite people saying I shouldn’t. But me don’t like national fish so will have to make do with something else. I eat when its offerred but I try to avoid it as much as I can. I had a bad experience with it.
Will have to go too. Real life beckons. LOL!
BTW, I read at Variety that The Changeling might be shortlisted for the NY Film Festival.

Reports of Darfur rebels using children worrying - UN
Wed 16 Jul 2008, 5:50 GMT
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a new report that he was very worried that a Sudanese rebel group active in the country’s war-ravaged Darfur region appeared to be using child soldiers.
In a bleak report on the joint United Nations-African Union peacekeeping mission in Darfur (UNAMID) released on Tuesday, Ban also said he was “deeply disappointed” by the lack of progress that has been made towards ending the 5-year-old conflict in western Sudan.
Ban said that a surprise attack on the Sudanese capital Khartoum in May by the rebel Justice and Equality Movement, which has generally confined its activities to Darfur, had highlighted the two sides’ inability to settle their differences at the negotiating table.
Khartoum had said after the JEM attack that some of the rebels it captured after the attack were children. Ban made it clear that he found this to be a disturbing development.
“I am particularly concerned by reports of child soldiers among the JEM combatants in Omdurman, in clear violation of international law,” Ban said.
“My office is pressing for the release of the children detained by the government (of Sudan) during the attack and I condemn the use of child soldiers in all instances.”
Khartoum accuses Chad of backing JEM and has refused to negotiate with either JEM or the Chadians since the attack. Chad accuses the Sudanese government of backing rebels hoping to bring down its government.
Both countries reject the other’s allegations.

Italian Government Officials Avert Film Festival Boycotts
The Italian government has averted a boycott of the Venice, Rome and Turin Film Festivals, by introducing huge tax incentives to make movies in the country.
Members of the Italian film industry threatened to walk away from the nation’s biggest movie events, after authorities cut tax credits last month (Jun08) - depriving local communities of $250 million (GBP125 million) in movie money.
But the festival boycott was called off after Silvio Berlusconi’s government reintroduced the measure, which produces tax credits amounting to 25 per cent of a film’s budget, up to $7.7 million (GBP3.85 million).
The credits were first introduced in 2007 to help boost Italy’s film industry. Last year $496 million (GBP298 million) was spent on movie shoots in the country.

Looking forward to seeing Benjamin button
LOOKING OUT: Speaking of ve-r-r-r-ry early Oscar talk … Brad Pitt’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” doesn’t open ’til December, but if Julia Ormond’s view is any indication, the film about a man who ages backwards is bound to cause a sensation. “What I have seen of it is extraordinary, just phenomenal. It could be (director) David Fincher’s greatest achievement,” says Ormond. “I have a very small role in it as Cate Blanchett’s daughter, when Cate is around 80. For me it was a wonderful, very intensive two weeks of filming in the hospital with Cate.”
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/the_big_picture/2008/07/spike-lee-is-a.html
Brian Grazer says that “L.A. Riots,” Spike Lee’s long-awaited look at the incendiary events that paralyzed Los Angeles for four terrifying days in 1992, is back on track. The movie, from an original script by WGA dissident John Ridley, could possibly begin shooting later this year. The peripatetic producer has been busy with his latest lineup of A-list filmmaker projects, led by Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling,” due this fall, and “Ron Howard’s “Frost/Nixon,” which arrives in December. But he says he is moving full speed ahead with the Lee film.
“Both Spike and I are totally excited about getting it going,” Grazer told me this morning. “John Ridley wrote a great script, but it needed a little more focus, so we put Terry George on it to do a rewrite. The script is due in two weeks and having worked with Terry before, we’re expecting that it should be something that’s ready to shoot.”
Grazer_3 George, best known for writing “In the Name of the Father” and writing and directing “Hotel Rwanda,” did extensive rewrites on “Inside Man,” the hit thriller Lee made with Grazer in 2006. Grazer says they haven’t cast the new picture yet, though Lee is interested in using some of the young African American actors he worked with on “Miracle at St. Anna,” his World War II film coming in September from Disney. (Lee and Eastwood have exchanged angry words about the dearth of black soldiers in Eastwood’s own WW2 films, but Grazer, ever the smooth operator, is staying far, far away from that dust-up.)
Though Lee is famous for his incendiary takes on controversial subjects, Grazer insists that “L.A. Riots” is more of a vivid drama than a bomb-throwing broadside. “It’s a war movie set in a modern city like Los Angeles,” he says. “There were 56 deaths, more than 2,000 buildings that caught fire and all sorts of horrific destruction. So we see the anger and the emotion, but the story enables us to see the strife from all perspectives. You get a close look at the sociopolitical dynamics from the perspective of the cops, the African Americans, the Koreans, from all these different people. And then you get to arrive at your own conclusions.”

N.Y. festival gets ready for ‘Class’
Cannes Palme D’Or winner to open event
The 46th New York Film Festival will kick off its opening night with Laurent Cantet’s “The Class,” this year’s Palme d’Or winner at Cannes.
New York fest, which runs Sept. 26-Oct. 12, will unspool at the Ziegfeld due to renovations at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.
“The Class,” which will be distribbed by Sony Pictures Classics, is based on Francois Begaudeau’s book “Entre les murs.” It follows a junior high class over the course of a year as it tests its teacher’s methods.
Three of Cantet’s four films have been included in the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s programs: “Human Resources” (New Directors/New Films), “Time Out” (NYFF) and “Heading South” (Rendezvous With French Cinema).
“Laurent Cantet has pioneered a new kind of social cinema,” said selection committee chair Richard Pena, “one that explores the key issues of our day, from contemporary labor struggles to First World/Third World relations and now to education, with a startling boldness and freshness in approach.”
ndustry insiders suggest pics on this year’s shortlist for the New York Film Festival may include Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling” and Ari Folman’s “Waltz With Bashir.” Other movies likely to make at least the final round in the selection process include Steven Soderbergh’s two-part “Che”; Charlie Kaufman’s enigmatic “Synecdoche, New York”; Gus Van Sant’s “Milk” (if finished in time); one of Claire Denis’ two films, “35 Rhums” or “White Materials”; Sam Mendes’ “Revolutionary Road”; John Hillcoat’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road”; Ron Howard’s “Frost/Nixon”; and John Patrick Shanley’s “Doubt.”

Production companies have been drawn by tax breaks and the support of Hollywood titans such as Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and director Tony Scott, Day says.
Pitt stars in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, filmed in and around New Orleans and due out this year.
The latest New Orleans project: David Simon, creator of HBO’s The Wire and the miniseries Generation Kill, announced last week he will film a pilot for a TV series titled Treme that details the lives of musicians and other residents in post-Katrina New Orleans.
This year’s productions have amounted to an estimated $100 million in direct economic impact on the city, Day says.
“In a recovery economy, it’s amazing to see what this industry has done for us,” she says.
Local film crews have reaped the benefits.

Good Morning all. Wow I think the troll went for a record on Just Jared. It has spam this thread for hours. Sometimes it is best to ignore the deranged. The troll only made it self look bitter and miserable Too many people project their personal problems, dissatisfaction with their lives and tabloid mentality onto others. BP and AJ are good people doing some good in the world. They are committed partners and children. Folks are too hung up on PR driven ideas about celebrities. However, those that walk the talk are the ones to admire. I wish AJ all the best. She is an inspiring and motivating woman. Papa Pitt is an activist who has stepped up to the plate. Best wishes to the entire family. Thanks for all the updates Just Jared. Peace to all.
dLISTER @ 07/16/2008 at 12:22 am Ugh. For the love of God get over yourselves.
Let me explain why I personally hate Angelina Jolie. I have been in a relationship where my partner was unfaithful and I can’t even begin to describe the pain that came with it. …
—-
If your partner did that to you, maybe you are partialy the one to be blamed for your own mistakes including the one of choosing him as a partner in the first palce.
Your ex couldn’t stand you anymore and had the decency of going out with someone else than faking it. Bid deal, it happened every second, everywhere in the world !
You should be celebrating like an independant woman to get rid of that c.unt who were sharing you with another and disrespected you. Instead, you are here, among strangers, sounding pathetic, insane, desperate, immature and ugly, drowning on your own bitter filth like a loser.
It’s your own fault if you cannot get over the fact that you were not worth to be kept by this man or that he fell out of love.
I would never understand women who are crying because a man who doesn’t love them anymore decide to go somewhere else than to stay there out of pity.
You are a pitifull woman with no dignity. You keep your dirty emotional baggage, spread it through fictive people like a pathology and no man can stand that.
It is all your fault that you oozes unattraciveness cause full of bitterness and stuck in your own failure. Your fault, not brangelina, not anybody, your own MISERY created by you and your partner and fed only by YOU ! Deal with it or go see a shrink !
will someone please figure out how to tell us the second word of the movie they want Brad to do it always comes out **********

Pitt’s Brother in Erie for Charity
Reported by: Chris Cerenelli
Sunday, Jun 29, 2008 @04:11pm EST
A relative of one of Hollywood’s biggest stars was in Erie this morning but it had nothing to do with stardom. Brad Pitt’s brother Doug was on hand at the Grace Church on Grubb Road helping represent the Pitt-Jolie Foundation.
The foundation in conjunction with Africa 6000 was in town trying to engage area businesses and churches to drill for water in Africa. As you may know, it’s a country facing many difficulties but the impact this particular issue has is one of the most significant.
Of all the charities and interests clamoring for the attention of the Pitt-Jolie Foundation, would you think any would involve water? Working with WorldServe, a large global networking charity has allowed Africa 6000 to see just how big having clean water can be to the country they’re trying to help.
“To see the impact that one well can make in a community, it’s not about just hunger and clothing at this point, it’s about living.” said Pitt.
That means building livable communities and drilling water wells helps do just that.
Pitt says: “When you drop a well in there, you’re saving tons of lives but then we have the ability to bring churches, bring in schools and a lot of infrastructure on top of that.”
In areas they’ve worked, many new wells are already in the works with three drilled so far this year. Africa 6000 president Joe Prischak says they’re just scratching the surface.
“Maybe another 15, 20, or 30 after the dozen or so that we are going to drill because this means a lot to those people and i think it makes a difference, one well at a time.” he says
It’s easy to appreciate the effect these wells can have…according to statistics, some 6,000 children in Africa die every day due to contaminated water or lack of water. Their mission has already touched the people of Erie, and Pitt says everyone involved is more than grateful for the continued support.
“They just did an amazing job last November, we were able to raise a lot of money and already spending it on the ground getting wells dug so I couldn’t be more thrilled with the interest around (here).”
And everyone who helped out knew just how serious the situation is.
Ppeople can live 12, 14, 16 days without food but you can’t live more than 48 hours withour water so water is an absolute necessity.”

Nicole Kidman’s made headlines this week with reports that she’s going to give away pictures of her newborn daughter, Sunday Roast, for free.
According to the Australian Media, Nic and husband Keith Urban “don’t believe in making deals” for baby pics.
Not true, we’re told
=============================================
The rumors that are going around is that Nicole and Keith did try to sell their baby pics but no one wanted to paid the price they were asking. So after being turned down they decided to give the pictures away for free. I wonder how much money they were asking in order to be told the pics wasn’t worth that much.
