OlderLauren Conrad Clears Charity Controversy
Lauren Conrad recently attended Animal Fair Media’s 2008 Annual “Paws For Style” at Arena in New York City on Tuesday. Since then, controversy has erupted as to whether or not the charity funded her trip to New York City.
Lauren responded on Wednesday via her Myspace Celebrity blog:
“I would like to address some of the internet rumors regarding what happened at an event I attended in New York on Tuesday. I was invited by Animal Fair Magazine to attend a charity event, ‘Paws For Style’ fashion show. I have always been a supporter of animal causes. I own 2 rescue animals and this sounded like a great event. I agreed to pose for the cover of the magazine, host the event, do press at the event and donate clothing, all of which I did. I was not aware of any other commitments. I was not paid to attend the event and my hotel room was donated to the charity. I also made a voluntary donation to the Humane Society for more then the cost of my airfare so there would be no expense to the charity. I have always been responsible and keep my word on all commitments. I am extremely hurt and disappointed that Wendy Diamond would go to the press and attack me with untrue statements. Anyone who knows me, knows this is not the kind of person I am or who my parent’s raised me to be. It’s just embarrassing that people are saying these things about me. I was trying to do a good thing and help out a charity by doing everything I agreed to do. I continue to support the Humane Society, as it is a wonderful organization.”

Y’know… I believe her. With grammar mistakes like those (maybe her “parent’s [sic]” taught them to her), there’s no way that was pre-penned by her publicist!

She does have some spelling problems, which makes me believe this came from her and not a publicist at all. What is the big deal anyway? A lot of charities pay psuedo-celebrities to host their events, and the celebrity doesnt always pay them back by making a donation.
The girl did a good thing, lets complain when she goes to the event, demands to be paid and then turns around and abuses an animal on youtube.

First of All, I’m glad the public is now realizing how awful Wendy Diamond is. Trust me, I worked with her for 6 months and quit because she was so rude, mean, and too ignorant for me. I really don’t like LC, but I believe what she said only because I know that shady ***** Wendy Diamond. Animal Fair Magazine will continue to go downhill if Wendy Diamond is not fired.
Finally someone speaking about Wendy Diamond’s awful, awful personality. No celebrity in their right mind should work with her. She is very demanding and is never satisfied. I understand Lauren rescued a dog from the pound, but look at how Wendy made LC feel like crap. I hope all celebs take note from now on.

Hmm @ 07/16/2008 at 7:55 pm First off, I’m sick of seeing this girl. She’s some chick from a cheesy reality show that for some reason tons of people watch.. when really the show is about everyday people type sh*t you could be doing instead of sitting in front of the tv.
Second, I think they did comp her airfare and hotel and I’m pretty sure that’s one reason.. in addition to her “love” for animals she went. Then I think after the backlash, a publicist or whoever has the brains in her camp told her what to say and how to cover her a*s. I mean she just said her donation to the ASPCA was because they paid for her airfare. She should have let them know they didn’t have to get her airfare from the get go.. same with the hotel. And you know they got her first class tickets because she doesn’t seem the coach or economy type.
Girls got enough money to foot her own bills and expenses and do charity work the right way. And if she doesn’t her rich peepaw and mama do.
Sick of celebs getting kick back for something they should do for free and them justify in by saying their involvement will bring more money to said charity.
ITA!!!!!!! she got her first class plane and hotel all paid for and couldnt even walk down the runway like they asked. absolutely disgusting.

Wendy Diamond should be the one who is embarrassed. Lauren obvioulsy gave more than she received. Regardless of what some may think of her, her time is worth a lot currently. But she also donated something from her line and followed through with her commitments. It obviously was not made clear to her that she was supposed to be anywhere else because why would she just not do that one thing? Whether it was a miscommunication on Wendy’s part or a misunderstanding on Lauren’s. It sounds like Lauren was caught of guard and did not intentionally “diss” the red carpet. It’s just not her style. Those who think she is spoiled have every right to their opinion, when she decided to do the show, she opened herself up to all kinds of haters. It’s sad people like Wendy want to point out the one thing she missed rather than all the things she did do and give.
And the one person who pointed out that she did the fundraiser because she got a free plane ride and accommodations~ Honey, I am sure she has plenty of better opportunities. She chose to do that event because she believed in the cause and loves animals. Why must we always try to see the bad in someone who is trying to do good?
Wendy Diamond should not be in charge of Paws. She has definitely put out a negative where a positive was intended. I hope she sends out a public apology about the misunderstanding and shows some kind of redemption or I am sure she will lose a lot of supporters. Just wanted to say to all those people criticizing spelling mistakes should actually stop for a minute and realize this is a TRANSCRIPT…if you check out Lauren’s blog in her myspace she wrote parents not “parent’s”, so the mistake is clearly the reporter’s fault. Sometimes it’s very easy to point fingers and be judgamental but we don’t stop to get our facts straight…so before insulting her and callling her rich or spoilled at least give her the benefit of doubt and be sure you have all the facts.
Anyways, I don’t really believe that Wendy person, Lauren has never seemed to be the kind of person with a “diva” issue; and she did help out the charity event in many ways, so be grateful Wendy!!!
I feel sorry for you people punishing her, its a reality tv its not suppose to be perfect, you should be grateful shes not like britney spears or any other silly celebrity.
