Where did you came up with the idea that the babies are premature? The doctor said more than once that it wasn’t a premature birth, that the babies weren’t premature.

The size of the babies are the normal size for twins.

To me, it all depends on the specialty. You may find doctors in geriatrics, internal medicine or FP to be more compassionate than a surgeon.

PARIS (AP) — Angelina Jolie and her newborn twins early Saturday left the French hospital where she gave birth, the Fondation Lenval said.

The star left the clinic in the Riviera city of Nice with twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, according to a hospital statement. It was not immediately clear if the twins’ father, actor Brad Pitt, was with them.

“The mother and her babies are doing very well,” the the statement said.

Jolie checked into the hospital on July 2 and delivered the babies by Cesarian section 10 days later. Knox Leon weighed 5.03 pounds and the Vivienne Marcheline 5 pounds.

In its statement, the Fondation Lenval thanked the Jolie-Pitt couple for choosing the hospital.

It also thanked the hospital staff “for the attention and care they paid to the family” and the “journalists around the hospital who did their best to respect their privacy.”

My HUGE fear is someone is gonna get killed trying to get those pics of Knox and Vivienne before People or OK does and THAT would be the real tragedy here.

LOL. Call me uncompassionate, but if a nasty pap - you know, one of those who call out names and try to provoke a response falls down a rubbish chute trying to get a photo of the twins, I’m not sure if it would be a “REAL” tragedy.

My daughter is a new physician. She said she didnt want to go into geriatrics because she said, ” they smell”, and ” they cant stop talking, “. It’s not just my daughter saying that. I’ve heard of many med students saying the same thing.

I also agree with the fact the medical people, psysicians, surgeons are not known for their compassion. Where did people get this idea from ?

My father, cousins, physicians, best friend, many other friends are all physicians, scientists. It is a well known fact that part of the alumni in medical school is toughen up, including salacious joke about dead or old people to release the tension and be able to not get too emotional in a field where suffering and death are always present.

My father told me one of his first experience in the field was when in an hospital reading the name of the patients and they was ‘PSW’ attached to some of them. He asked what does that means and the nurse replied in a smile : “Passera Pas Le Week-end” which means in english : ‘Won’t Be able to make It before the Week-End”.

I can tell many stories like the one of that colleague of his whose wife just passed away and who had to practice an autopsie and refused to let his colleagues do it. He just asked his colleugues ‘bring on the meat’ before practicing the autopsie.

Or the one called the morgue worker who was always making fun of the dead and the stench released when practicing autposie because he was the one who could take it longer than the other coleages around.

Oh and April fool is the date where all the cynical and dirty jojes beetween them are out…Nurses, especially the older one who have seen it all are known to be the most vicious one in that department

When talking to my father when younger, he used to tell me that doctors, surgeons, have to deal with the worst everyday and that it needs a deal of cynicism for not going nuts and depressed when seeing death and suffering all around themselves from patients to family members. Nurses are even more cold because they see it in a more intimate way.

The only time when they cannot hold it is when a child deceases in their arms. That’s what ahappened to my father when a baby died in his arms…

This is an admirable job but a tough one too and it needs mental strengh to practice it. Compassion and emotion, especially in surgeon cases are out of line and may endangered a patient life, hence the fact that no surgeon or physician can practice their craft on someone they are related to.

Angelina Jolie and her twins left the hospital early Saturday – a week since she gave birth to Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

“Angelina Jolie left the Clinic Santa Maria of Fondation Lenval early in the morning of July 19th,” hospital rep Nadine Bauer confirmed to PEOPLE. “The mother and babies are doing very well.”

There were only a few journalists camped outside the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France, early Saturday morning but even they didn’t know for sure when Jolie slipped out of the hospital with her twins at 4 a.m. local time. She is believed to have headed back to her rented chateau southeast of Nice.

Two cars left via the underground parking garage and were seen heading in the direction of the Chateau Miraval, the enormous and luxurious chateau in Correns, France, that Jolie and partner Brad Pitt rented in May.

“We saw the cars and we thought it was her but we didn’t see anything,” one observer says. “Typical Angelina. She gets away.”

Photographers had been stationed on nearby roofs of the hospital, hoping that Jolie would leave as she had arrived nearly three weeks ago – by helicopter.

Bauer added Saturday that hospital staff wanted to thank their own personnel for the attention and care they gave the Jolie-Pitt family. She also released a statement from the hospital, which thanked “those journalists around the hospital who did their best to respect their privacy.”

Jolie’s departure began at about 3:50 a.m. when, according to an eyewitness, a grey Volkswagen minibus with darkened windows arrived outside the hospital on its Promenade des Anglais.

“There was a sudden spray of light out of the hospital’s garage way and then four or five people came out of that through a rear doorway. They stood behind the hospital in a small courtyard in the dark.”

The courtyard entrance, a gated area for emergency access has been closed during Jolie’s stay, “was suddenly opened by someone who was waiting in the bus stop beside the hospital,” the witness says. “This group of people got into the van, very quickly. . . . It was all done in a hurry. And they were very quick organizing themselves inside. Very rapid. And then ‘Pouf!’ they were gone.

“With all the press attention around them, a constant watch on the front of the hospital, they managed to leave so quickly, my hat’s off to them,” the witness says.

At 9 a.m., Dr. Michel Sussmann, who delivered the twins by Cesarean section on July 12, confirmed the family’s departure, telling reporters, “You can go home. The story is over.”

Added Bauer: “We enjoyed having her and her family here very much.”

I will be lying to deny the mockeries did not make me sad. I was.
A temporary nuisance, and none beyond that. Mockeries have no probative value and nor can discredit me as a person, nor expunged my diploma, Transcript of Records, Diploma and my practice as a surgeon.

In my profession - focus, optimal wit, composure under extreme pressure and raw conditions, objectivity and emotional detachment are PARAMOUNT. Emotional outburst is a deadly sin, and I will not sin. So mock to your heart content - i’ll give you a cold stare, turn my back with my eyes rolling.

I am not sure exactly how and why my profession got entangled. Being a Trauma Surgeon is no more honorable than a housewife, breadwinner, teacher, an accountant, garbage man, physicist, professor, orderly, astronomer, mechanic, baker, economist, driver, scientist, writer, lawyer, or politician - well, maybe not the last two ( it’s a joke), or President, that is if you are Bush. (i can see those criticisms coming).

So what and how does it matter, if I am a Trauma Surgeon? More important, why and how would that intimidate people ? I am no different from, nor better than you - I have a dog, student loan, car note, mortgage, Amex, 7 credit cards, phone bill, cable etc, pay taxes, boyfriends and lovers [one at a time, lest i'd be criticized for being a two-timing bitc-h]. I’ve laughed and cried, loved and lost. We share the same universe albeit, different aspirations.

If you tell me you are an accountant, I’d believed you. I will not ask for you to prove and defend your Academic Transcript of Record. And only for that reason, I will not defend mine.

My sincerest thanks to everyone for all your opinions, good or bad, for or against me. We are in a democracy, free to vocalize our opinions and prejudices.
