I’m glad she’s going home, especially that she’s not going by helicopter. Given the intensity of the paps, I kept imagining them hiring copters too and being reckless and sloppy when it comes to getting ‘their paychecks’.

After reading the last thread and all the comments about Meryl Streep, question for PT, I don’t think my generation had any iconic actresses (like Hepburn, Taylor, Loren, Monroe etc.) maybe it skipped a generation? lol I figure if there are any you would know. I just can’t think of anyone who has what Angie has (beauty, a gorgeous movie star partner, good acting chops, children etc….) When I thought of Actresses in my age group the I could only think of Susan Sarandon, Meryl Streep and Julie Christie who was just resuscitated briefly last year. La comédienne Angelina Jolie a quitté très tôt ce matin, vers 4h, la Fondation Lenval de Nice, où elle a donné naissance à ses jumeaux — Knox Léon et Vivienne Marcheline — il y a tout juste une semaine.

D’après l’équipe médicale, les deux nouveaux-nés “se portent parfaitement bien”. L’établissement hospitalier a tenu à remercier, par un communiqué à l’AP “l’ensemble des équipes pour la qualité des soins et de l’accueil qu’elles ont réservé à la famille Pitt-Jolie”. De son côté, l’équipe médicale est contente et soulagée du départ de la star, qui va enfin permettre au centre médical de retrouver le calme, et à son personnel de travailler normalement à nouveau.

Déjà la présence d’Angelina était contreversée par les équipes du Samu, et la grogne commençait à monter dans les couloirs de l’hôpital. Le jardin privatif situé côté mer, qui est le lieu de détente réservé au personnel, était devenue une zone interdite. De plus, depuis l’arrivée du couple star, la direction avait interdit les pauses déjeuner sur ce site, comme ils avaient l’habitude de le faire. Résultat, depuis trois semaines, le personnel qui n’est pas autorisé à quitté l’enceinte de l’hôpital (excepté ce jardin auquel on leur barrait donc l’accès), déjeunait dans le bâtiment ou sous le préau obscur des urgences. Le personnel souhaitait donc retrouver le calme et ses habitudes.

A noter que les jumeaux seront faits citoyens d’honneur de la ville de Nice, comme l’avait précisé le maire de la cité azuréenne Christian Estrosi.

Le calme peut dorénavant revenir sur la célèbre Promenade des Anglais !

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has left the hospital in southern France where she gave birth to twins last week, the clinic has confirmed.

In a statement posted on the Lenval hospital website, it said the 33-year-old had left early on Saturday morning.

“The mother and her babies are doing very well,” it said.

The Oscar-winning star gave birth to twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon last week.

Actor Brad Pitt, the children’s father, was by her side.

Planet Beach in Meridian, Boise and Nampa will hold grand reopening and grand openings from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at its seven area tanning salons, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Make It Right, an organization founded by Brad Pitt to build 150 sustainable homes in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward.

The celebration includes a $1,000 raffle, music, food and drinks, various gift certificates and membership discounts.

Humphrey the Hawk will be giving away Boise Hawks tickets, and the Boise State cheerleaders will be washing cars.

Can you just imagine the excitment of the four older siblings seeing Mummy back home with their new sister and brother? They are all in for some happy, busy and chaotic times as they bond together.

Plenty of room for relatives to visit and help. And hopefully the playroom (with nannies) is far away from their room so they can get the occasional rest!

Ok needed to reply. The money goes to charity! When you give that much you can be a critic until then, see the good the money does for those who would do without basic things. The departure of mother and babies from the hospital is good news because it confirms that they are all in good health. There could easily have been any number of problems with the birth of multiples. The fact they only stayed in the hospital a week after birth seems a good sign that there weren’t problems with either mother or babies.

Dr. Sussman also indicated early on that the twins were never even in incubators when he said they were fine and with their mother and didn’t need any help (i.e., incubators).

I find it amusing that these actors people are regaling as iconic all were trashed in their day and also suffered moralistic criticism from both the media and the public for just living their lives. “Iconic” actresses Hepburn (both of them), Taylor, Loren, and Monroe all suffered a heavy dose of trashing in their day. You can add Ingrid Bergman to that list. Bergman was even condemned from the floor of the US Congress for daring to leave her husband and have her twins with Roberto Rosselini (sp?). Judgmental harpies have always been around. They love to stick their noses where they do not belong. Reminiscent of the Salem witch hunts.

I can’t believe that people are so uninformed to even suggest that the economy has any connection to money paid for photos of celebrity babies. There is no connection. In fact, it may be a decent indication that some segments of the economy are robust and growing.

I would love to see someone donate the money so a publication like Parenting or a non-profit’s magazine like UNICEF Today (or whatever it’s called) could buy the rights and also profit from the photos. Though I suspect Brad relishes the idea that he is taking huge money from the evil tabloid industrial complex and channeling it into good works. I am sure that the whole idea for baby pic deals was Brad’s from the get -go. He’s never been a pushover.

I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was
full of anger. I was oblivious to her feelings. I wanted out of that house, and
have nothing to do with her.
So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study. Then,I got married.
I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was happy with my life, my
kids and the comforts, Then one day, my mother came to visit me. She hadn’t seen
me in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren. When she stood by the
door, my children laughed at her, and I
yelled at her for coming over uninvited.

I screamed at her, “How dare you come to my house and scare my children!”

GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!”
And to this, my mother quietly answered, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have gotten
the wrong address,” and she disappeared out of sight.

One day,a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. So I lied to my
wife that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went to the old
shack just out of curiosity.

closure. And closure usually brings peace…

I saw the video on yahoo of the van that was carrying Angie and the twins…..well supposed to be carrying Angie and the twins,lol….and it was really carefully done. Thank God Angie and the babies managed to get out of the hospital and home with no problem!
They say Brad wasn’t seen but I’m thinking he was already in the van and he and Angie took the babies home together :-)

I love how they managed to give the paparazzi the slip. They missed the birth and they missed the babies leaving the hospital. They must be foaming at the mouth in frustration.

Does anyone know if Brad’s parents have arrived yet? Angelina is going to need all the help and all the sleep she can get for the next few weeks.

E! News has confirmed that Angelina Jolie and her ever-burgeoning brood left the Lenval hospital in Nice, France, early Saturday, a week after giving birth to twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

“Angelina left at 4am in a blacked-out ambulance,” a source tells E! News. “And she’s now back at Chateau Miraval with Brad, the kids, her brother James Haven and Bill and Jane Pitt, Brad’s Mom and Dad.”

The 33-year-old new mom had been hoping to depart the hospital via a helicopter from the roof, the source said, but the hospital only allows helicopter access on the roof in the event of a medical emergency.

“Angelina and her security decided that if she left in the middle of the night then there would be less risk of them being followed by a huge group of paparazzi on motorbikes,” the source said. “It was for her and the twins’ safety.”

The hospital released a statement on it’s website early Saturday morning confirming that the Brangelina bunch had decamped.

“Mrs. Angelina Jolie left the clinic Santa Maria of Fondation Lenval early in the morning, on July 19,” the message said. “The mother and her babies are doing very well.

“The general management of Lenval and Santa Maria want to thank the team for the attention and care they pay to the family, and those of the journalists around the hospital who did their best to respect their privacy.”

I am glad that Angie and the twins are finally at home with the rest of the family and that they are doing well. Speaking of OK!, I was getting my hair done and was reading the ‘Due in Four Weeks’ issue. They said that the twin girls were due at the end of June; Angelina would either give birth in Monaco or Grasse Hospital; that there was no way that Angelina would be flown to the hospital via a helicopter; and that Angelina would fly in her regular obgyn, Dr. Rothbart, because he’s the only person she trusts to deliver the babies.

So no, it wouldn’t make me happy for OK to get the pics; those idiots would probably mislabel the babies.

I also looked at the Essence featuring Usher and his eight month old son, Usher V. The princesses petrified about loving non-blood-related children would be heartened by his responses. Every other word out of his mouth was about how he wanted Usher V to see him, how he wanted to be a good role model to Usher V, how having babies was a huge responsibility, how bonded he was to Usher V. Eventually, he said that he loved all of his children, including his stepsons, equally. Unfortunately, the absence of the stepsons in the photospread and within the entire conversation with Hill Harper just didn’t sit well.

But that said, Usher V is an adorable little boy.

Ok mag on other hand has no mention on their cover. I was flicking through but didn’t spot anything about the births. Makes me suspitious that they maybe waiting for the baby pics.

There could easily have been any number of problems with the birth of multiples. The fact they only stayed in the hospital a week after birth seems a good sign that there weren’t problems with either mother or babies.

Dr. Sussman also indicated early on that the twins were never even in incubators when he said they were fine and with their mother and didn’t need any help (i.e., incubators).

Good morning to all BAMPZSV fans. I am happy that they go away with little notice. They are smooth operators. I know the other children are fasinated by these two new little people. I can only assume that Brad and Angie will have their hands full explaining how they got from inside mommie to there. I know Shilo had her baby dolls. And Z had monkies in her stomach. And they took the boys to see a ultrasound of the babies. But those are all abstractions to them.

Now they have the real thing kicking and screaming in front of them. They will be intrigued by it all. How happy for everyone.

Isn’t interesting that the trolls are bitching about Brad and Angie selling their pictures and giving the money to charity. Yet none of the stars who have received money from tabs have donated anything at all.

I also find it strang that Drew Barrymore break was allegedly caused by her drinking excessively. None of the tabs, to my knowledge, have condemned jer actions. Let’s all say it together. Had it been Angie it would have made CNN, MSNBC and Fox. Different stadards.

Didn’t Brad warn all tabs that if the approached Grandma Betty again all hell would break loose. Do you really think US interviewed her? Peace

A temporary nuisance, and none beyond that. Mockeries have no probative value and nor can discredit me as a person, nor expunged my diploma, Transcript of Records, and my practice as a surgeon.

In my profession - focus, optimal wit, composure under extreme pressure and raw conditions, objectivity and emotional detachment are PARAMOUNT. Emotional outburst is a deadly sin, and I will not sin. So mock to your heart content - i’ll give you a cold stare, turn my back with my eyes rolling.

I am not sure exactly how and why my profession got entangled. Being a Trauma Surgeon is no more honorable than a housewife, breadwinner, teacher, an accountant, garbage man, physicist, professor, orderly, astronomer, mechanic, baker, economist, driver, scientist, writer, lawyer, or politician - well, maybe not the last two ( it’s a joke), or President, that is if you are Bush. (i can see those criticisms coming).

So what and how does it matter, if I am a Trauma Surgeon? More important, why and how would that intimidate people ? I am no different from, nor better than you - I have a dog, student loan, car note, mortgage, Amex, 7 credit cards, phone bill, cable etc, pay taxes, boyfriends and lovers [one at a time, lest i’d be criticized for being a two-timing bitc-h]. I’ve laughed and cried, loved and lost. We share the same universe albeit, different aspirations.

If you tell me you are an accountant, I’d believed you. I will not ask for you to prove and defend your Academic Transcript of Record. And only for that reason, I will not defend mine.

My sincerest thanks to everyone for all your opinions, good or bad, for or against me. We are in a democracy, free to vocalize our opinions and prejudices.

And of coarse, special thanks to Jill for making me the center of attention. I’d never thought I’d ever get noticed. ‘am so deeply flattered.

I dont agree your citing “have the kind of time to post” as reason. I know lots of surgeons ( between operations), go to the doctor’s lounge where it has TV, internet, computer, couch, coffee. And I know the doctors there check email, stockmarket etc. Some even have time to play online poker. If a doctor has time to play online game, onmyown may have time to blog between operations.

You’re comparing your husband who is an FP with a surgeon. Their work schedule is TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

They were just minutes away from one of the biggest moments of their lives, but Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were completely relaxed-giddy, even. As Jolie prepared to give birth to twins via cesarean section on July 12, she and Pitt “were talking and laughing” says Dr. Michael Sussmann, the ob-gyn who delivered the babies at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France. But when Knox Leon entered the world at 6:27pm, followed by his sister, Vivienne Marcheline one minute later, with Pitt cutting both babies’ umbilical cords, laughter gave way to joyful tears. Although the proud dad was “perfectly calm, totally determined, very pleased to be at the birth of his children,” says Sussmann, nothing could have prepared him hearing those first newborn cries: “The emotion,” he says, “was very strong.”

The surgery only took 30 minutes, but the twins’ arrival marked a relief-filled ending to a challenging few weeks for the couple: For the last 14 days of her pregnancy, Jolie, 33, was hospitalized for regular “surveillance,” said her doctor. Meanwhile, Pitt, 44, tended to the couple’s four older children-Maddox, who turns 7 on Aug.5, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2- and juggled daily visits to the hospital. “They are all very well,” Sussmann told PEOPLE following a July 14 checkup of Jolie and the twins, who each weighed about 5 lbs. at birth. (Like many multiples of that size, the twins are expected to remain in the hospital for five to seven days.)

For a woman who regularly hops continents and flies herself across time zones, being confined to the hospital for two weeks was no easy feat. Still, with a room overlooking the dazzling blue Mediterranean Sea, the actress was able to rest comfortably both before the birth and after. As Jolie’s rep Geyer Kosinski told PEOPLE, “Mother and children are healthy and are doing great.”

Amid the global fanfare that greeted the twins’ arrival-France’s Nice-Matin newspaper cheekily heralded the event as “for the American press… the most important since man walked on the moon”- everyone from the couple’s Hollywood friends to the mayor of Nice have extended their congratulations. “The newborns are, as history shows, authentic Nicois{citizens of Nice},” Mayor Christian Estrosi declared while showing off Knox’s birth certificate on July 13. Adds singer Wyclef Jean, a close Jolie pal: “I have a lot of well wishes for them.”

While they settle into a new family groove, the multinational Jolie-Pitt bunch will remain at the Chateau Miraval, a sprawling estate in the French countryside where they have lived since late May (the family will likely return to the U.S. before the end of fall). And with so many kids so close in age, their parents will be working overtime. “With our eldest, we have that last half hour at night,” Jolie told ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY in June. “Shiloh tends to be the first up in the morning. Everybody gets special time so we can make sure we know where they’re at.”

The couple who employ nannies but don’t have a live-in staff, also have support from Pitt’s parents, Bill and Jane, and from Jolie’s big brother James Haven, who flew in for the birth from L.A. Jolie’s father, actor Jon Voight, also offered his support. “I’m waiting on her needs,” says Voight. “If she asked me to come over. I certainly would be on the next plane.”

But even with plenty of extra help, newborn twins are bound to be a jolt to the family routine. The initial news that they were expecting double “did shock us,” Jolie told ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY. (Multiples do run in the Pitt family: Brad’s sister Julie has twin girls.)

As parents, Jolie and Pitt like to emphasize each child’s individual strength: Maddox is “very smart but he’s got a certain sense of calm,” Jolie told PEOPLE in 2006; family comedian Zahara is “the biggest personality in the house”; Pax, who continues to work with a Vietnamese tutor, is his big brother’s shadow; and Shiloh is a daddy’s girl. Maddox attends the elite Lycee Francais-French is the family’s “second language,” Jolie has said-which has schools around the globe, and at home everyone indulges in lots of arts and crafts and dramatic play. Still, as a mom Jolie can get tough when necessary. “You end up hearing yourself saying all those cliched parent things: ‘I don’t care who started it, but I’m here to finish it,’” she told July’s Vanity Fair. “But I really can discipline the kids when I need to.”

She also finds inspiration in the memory of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand-Vivienne’s namesake (see box)-who died of ovarian cancer at age 56 last year. A single mom who split from Voight when Jolie was 3, she raised Angelina and James and instilled a love of family early on. “When [she] passed, I realized that somebody who lives life with that kind of dedication to family,” Jolie said, “is the most noble.”

Now Jolie and Pitt are working to raise their children with the same kind of dedication. On the set of her summer hit Wanted, Pitt was on daddy duty while Jolie focused on work, recalls her costar Morgan Freeman: “You [would be] watching Papa with them. She was working and he was babysitting.” And while Jolie was filming the upcoming drama The Changeling, “I saw her with kids on-set and she’s just such a wonderful mom,” says her costar Michael Kelly. “You see her with the kids and it’s like, ‘Yeah, that’s the way it’s supposed to be.’”

Now that their family has evolved once again, Jolie and Pitt are committed to welcoming Knox and Vivienne and to letting each of their children know just how much they are cherished. “Clearly I love it,” Jolie said of motherhood last spring. “It’s my favorite thing, to be a mom. It’s the most challenging thing I’ve ever done, and it’s the most important work I’m doing. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had.”

Do the math. People usually graduate from college at age 21 or 22. Then 4 years of medical school. From what I’ve heard, a surgical residency is five years. There is no way she could finish a surgical residency at age 27.
