Christian Bale Arrested on Assault
Christian Bale walks the red carpet at the UK premiere of The Dark Knight held at the Odeon, Leicester Square on Monday.
The Dark Knight star allegedly lashed out and assaulted his mother and sister at London’s Dorchester hotel on Sunday, where he has a suite. Bale’s mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, went to a police station on Monday to lodge a formal complaint against him.
Bale was allowed to go to the premiere but police in London were expected to question him soon after.
A Met Police spokesman said: “A 34-year-old man attended a London Police Station on Tuesday by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault.”

I agree with everyone that thinks something smells fishy. Of all the actors that I’d have no problem believing this about, Christian just isn’t one of them. Maybe he did do it but something tells me it would have taken a lot on their part to make it happen.
Wow! I really hope this isn’t true. The man is talented, but, honestly, he doesn’t seem like a nice person. Of course, I don’t know the man, but I’ve seen him give several interviews, and he always seems like he has an attitude, like he’s pissed about something. I don’t know….
There is no justification for a man laying a hand on a woman, especially if that woman is a mother or a sister. I truly hope this is just another one of Hollywood’s rumors!
This is very sad. I hope it is not true.
I wonder if this is one of those movies we will all think back on as being jinxed - Poltergist for example.

You people who say that it was due to all the attention given to Heath
Ledger and whatever else that makes him the bad guy… you people assume way too much. For goodness sake, Heath is a goner. Who in his right mind would feel insecure over a guy who is already DEAD!
Christian Bale went thru a lot of financial woes about 8 years ago before he got noticed in the movie The Machinist to the point where his house was even bank re-possessed. He and his wife were childless for a number of years. At this high point in his life, I don’t think he would just throw that all away, by making a full of himself. With that said, you people, should just sit back, cool it and don’t judge.
You have your own skeletons in your closet that you need to face up to instead of getting at kick out of other people’s misery.
I think he probably pushed his mom out of his room and she fell and now she is pressing charges. I have never heard any negative stories about Christian like him being abusive or agressive. So, I think this was blown way of portion by his family to get money from him. How freakin sad. it is said when you can’t even trust your own mom and siblings. Hang in there Christian!!!!!

I was so effing shocked by this. Is it true? Is it false? Either way, it’s sad. If it’s true, then why beat down your mom and sister? If it’s false, why do that to your son at a time of his triumph? Oh god, the mess plaguing this movie is just terrible.

His personality was always in question but that doesn’t have anything to do with his acting. There was this rampant rumor last night that Michael Caine had died. ETF is up with TDK?

It’s amazing how many people make judgments about a situation they (at this point) know nothing about. Could he be a complete jerk who would hit his own mother and sister? Maybe. Is it a set-up? Maybe. Could the mother and sister be nasty, greedy, horrible people who are making Bale’s life hell? Maybe.
Point is, we just don’t know. The police will arrest anyone for assult, even if all they did was give a shove–I know some cops and I know espcially in domestic situations, the police will err on the side of the “victim” (even if it was a mutual fight, or the accused was provoked)
I can only imagine the hysteria in the PR dept. or The Dark Knight right now! Can’t even imagine how to spin this! (which is why I’m not a PR person!)

Assault is a threat of violence. Battery is the actual touching of another person.

Innocent until proven guilty…..So let’s give Christian Bale the benefit of the doubt.
I’ve always admired him as an actor, ever since I saw him in ‘Empire of the Sun,’ and I highly doubt that he’s been a closet assaulter of women all these years and nothing has ever leaked out.
These charges sound fishy to me. JMHO.
This movie has brought out the worse in its stars? What’s next? Michael Caine being charged for rape? Maggie Gyllenhaal getting arrested for theft? It’s terrible.
