Christian Bale Arrested on Assault
Christian Bale walks the red carpet at the UK premiere of The Dark Knight held at the Odeon, Leicester Square on Monday.
The Dark Knight star allegedly lashed out and assaulted his mother and sister at London’s Dorchester hotel on Sunday, where he has a suite. Bale’s mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, went to a police station on Monday to lodge a formal complaint against him.
Bale was allowed to go to the premiere but police in London were expected to question him soon after.
A Met Police spokesman said: “A 34-year-old man attended a London Police Station on Tuesday by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault.”

edna @ 07/22/2008 at 10:20 am My father works security at the hotel, and he said it was a mess. His mom and sister wanted the front desk worker to let them into his room to wait for him. When they were told no they started cussing and yelling. they sat in front of his door for an hour until he finally arrived.

Guys I think we are all in denial land. He asulted his mother and sis, why are we trying to bale him out. Im very sorry this happened because i love this guy as an actor. Now I just am very confused at his actions if he has a temper now that is comming to the surface.
Something about this doesn’t sound quite right. Why didn’t they report this to the London police(they reported it at another station)? Obviously, Bale didn’t want them there, it doesn’t seem they were invited, seems like they were trying to hassle him. I would believe this about many other actors, but I have difficulty believing about him, especially since he’s such a private person and this couldn’t come at a more bad time for him. It’s beyond suspicious and I’m very skeptical.
My GUESS, and it’s only a GUESS. They were hounding him for money, etc., etc. and he got fed up to the hilt and lashed out. I think many stars have lurking in the background greedy relatives who are constantly trying to suck money from them. I have heard that Bette Davis had such a sister and of course we know about the Home Alone boy and his parents, and I think Kirsten Dunst’s mother and brother live off of her (so I have read). I am sure it is one of the downsides for many big stars.
Here is the difference between assault and battery:
If the victim has not actually been touched, but only threatened, then the crime is considered to be ASSAULT. If the victim has been actually touched by the person committing the crime, then BATTERY has occurred.
Usually assualt and battery go hand in hand, so the very fact that he was only accused of assault means that he showed restraint.
This is such terrible publicity for Bale. This originally originated from The Sun which means it was tipped off by an insider and I seriously doubt it was the police. If the edna’s posts are to be believed, I really feel sorry for Bale. He’s probably been supporting his entire family since he was a child.
I might add that a notable exception to this syndrome was Shirley Temple and more recently Daniel Radcliffe whose parents are very wise about all of his new found wealth.

When you make a movie that awesome you should be allowed to beat your mother and sister all you want.

Even if his mother/sister are evil leeches, that doesn’t give him the right to lay his hands on them. On the other hand, if they are lying to extort money from him, he ought to hire some female kung-fu bodybuilder to beat them properly in some alleyway.

Why is everyone assuming the worst here? If Bale had anger management issues like Russell Crowe, we would’ve known about it a long time ago. Wait for all the facts to come in, since let’s face it, none of us really know what happened.
Well, judging by the look on his face, he really doesn’t want to be there…

It´s totally tragic …his fault, their fault, it doesn´t matter - I feel really sorry for them all! Who wants to have such a f****d up relationship with their parents and siblings that something like this can happen……

I’m working at the lawers office.. And I’ve seen and heard by myself how greedy ,hypocritic and disgusting people can behave if they want something - money\children custody\property and etc..
Actually it’s shocking.. I mean like I’ve always thought that the only people you can rely on is yourself and your family.. Noone deserves this..

Isn’t his mother deceased? I thought his father had remarried Gloria Steinem ages ago. This story makes little sense. I’m sure with all the stress from traveling and trying to to also be a family guy in the midst of the press surrounding him right now he could be a bit *snappish* but I really just don’t see it.
They should just stay away from him if they don’t get along. They had to know accusing him of assult right when he’s got this huge movie coming out could ruin his career and definitely his reputation. Most embarressing thing ever. I’m young and don’t have kids but I can imagine I’d have to be near dead to accuse my own child of that knowing that it would be made very public. Very wierd situation.
