Sen. Barack Obama takes the cover of People magazine’s latest issue.
Joining the 46-year-old Democratic presidential candidate on the cover is his wife Michelle, 43, and his two daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7. Here’s a little sneak peek:
– Barack’s daughters get a $1 per week allowance from Dad for doing their chores, like setting and clearing the dinner table.
– The kids receive no birthday or Christmas presents from Mom and Dad, who spend “hundreds” on birthday slumber parties and, as Barack puts it, “want to teach some limits.”
Also featured on this week’s cover is the debut of former Pregnant Man’s baby girl, Susan Juliette.
“She’s so precious, I just can’t stop staring at her,” Thomas Beatie tells People in his first interview since he and wife Nancy returned home. “Just holding her is the best feeling in the world.”

your comments in #94 were for the most part right on. however, my mother, grandmothers, and aunts all lifetime democrats are not going to vote for obama. and neither am i; this will be only the second presidential election i’m voting in for me. also, most of our family friends feel the same way .
we feel, rightly or wrongly, that we have been betrayed by the male establishment of the democratic party. for the first time we had a real chance to have a woman president and they took it away from us. that is something that my mother, grandmothers, aunts, and family friends have made clear they will never forgive the democratic party for. some of these women have already cancelled their memberships in the party and have decided to vote for mccain in protest. for my part; i think i’ll vote for ralph nader if he’s running; if not then i’ll also vote for mccain in protest.

Americans want to lead, not dominate. Non-Americans accuse us of wanting to dominate them, but if they really think about it, they will realize that we have good intentions. Do not hate us because we are leaders. Work hard and you too can lead in your special area. The more leaders, the merrier. The better you do, the more we all can benefit. If we Americans think this way more, we wouldn’t take such pleasure in putting this great country down. We have domestic problems like everyone else, but we have the will, resource and hopefully intelligence to constantly improve our lives. We are a great nation on the most parts. Don’t let the likes of Obama tell you that you are awful and only he can deliver you to the promised land. We live in the promised land, but like everything else, it takes constant work, honesty and diligence to make it an even better promised land. We are not sheeps being led. We are not so downtrodden that we need a savior in Obama. What we need is a qualified leader who loves this country and its people and wants to serve it. I don not see this with Obama because he’s rushing into this with his flimsy resume. If he’s so great, he’ll be even greater in time after gaining more experience. What’s the rush? And why are we being rushed into this unknow?
I believe that this is one of the most revealing interviews to date about how backwards thinking obama truly is. he gives his daughters one dollar a week for all of their chores which is the equivalent to 4 dollars a week and 48 dollars a year but he tells us that he wants universal health care and to help the poor. Help your children first! No xmas presents speaks volumes because in my mind if you believe in christ then christmas is the way to celebrate and he has made me see that there is a lie being told somewhere. I hope that Obama will never see the White House except to visit and that he will stop trying to convince the American people that he is not an elitist just because he is cheap. An elitist is a person who feels that they are better than other people not a person who refuses to buy new pants for years and is cheap to his own children.
Yes you guys are right. Let’s vote for a gun-toting military man with less experience in Law and Politics. Someone who “knows how to win wars” because that’s just what the world needs. Gosh..you McCain supporters need to get real..

On the issue of whether Sen. Obama changed his mind about interviews with his kids…this story was done BEFORE the Access Hollywood interview. If you’ve watched the Access Hollywood interview, you know that both Malia and Michelle talk about it as an event (interview), which has already happened, but has yet to be published.
So, Obama haters, at least get your facts right.
As far as media bias, you own a magazine: who are you going to put on your cover? A handsome, educated, charismatic man with a gorgeous family, who just completed a whirlwind European tour with huge cheering crowds, or an older, somewhat confused politician who can’t keep his geography, loyalties, Iraq timeline and history, or quotes straight?
Media likes beautiful, charismatic, intelligent people. McCain strikes out on all of those counts.
The Obama’s are a beautiful family. Barack Obama is a natural born leader who is extremely intellegent and chrismatic. After 8 years of a President who performed less than inadequate, it’s baffling that some people would still choose another 8 years of this type of mediocrity to someone who is clearly worthy based on ignorance and white superiority. If McCain is elected, this country will futher decend economically and it’s standing in the world will be more tarnished, if that’s even possible. Scripture does say the First will be Last. So all you White folks who plan to vote for McCain just because he’s white … that prophecy will be fulfilled in your lifetime.

Uninformed people call Barack an elitist? That fact has nothing to do with his upbringing, which was standard middle class, and everything to do with his mindset and ideals. Communism was meant to promote a utopian society where all where equal. Look no farther than those regimes to see how that’s worked out. It’s not about who is white or who is black. I think we’re past that trivial stuff now. It’s about who is best for the job and obviously a young, charismatic, intelligent and exprienced man is much more appealing than a old, miserable, war-loving man. So therefore, it’s only logical that Barack Obama should be the next President.
