Clay Aiken Blogs For UNICEF

UNICEF Ambassador Clay Aiken recently visited the East African countries of Somalia and Kenya, where UNICEF provides children with health care, education, nutrition, clean water and sanitation.

The 29-year-old American Idol alum has written a series of blogs about his experience in the field.

Here’s a snippet of one of Clay’s blog posts: “Getting children back to school is vital for their protection, and helps build a sense of normalcy in their lives. The re-establishment of schools in the most difficult circumstances is a testament to the commitment of UNICEF and to Kenyans. Many displaced parents told UNICEF that getting their children back to school was their top priority.

“Every child has the right to an education. Education transforms lives and breaks the cycle of poverty that so many children are caught in. And an educated child will make sure his or her own children receive an education too. This is just another one of the many amazing ways UNICEF is helping children today, while also building a safer Kenya tomorrow.”

Next month, Clay will become a new father! It was announced back in May that he artificially inseminated music producer Jaymes Foster, the sister of legendary record mogul David Foster.

Great pics! I’ve been so inspired to try and give more for good causes such as these. Thanks, UNICEF and CA!

ugly guy, but good with kids i guess…

I am always proud of Clay for doing such wonderful work. Sets a good example - sorely lacking by today’s young celebrities.

Gee, I didn’t see or hear confirmation or denial from Clay about being a father next month. You must be really informed….(sarcasm - in case you are wondering).

Beautiful guy, inside and out, is not a guess..

I think the homophobic freak posting in the #6 spot needs to stfu.

Whether you hate him or like him, he’s a good person trying to help those in need.

He’ll be a good father.

What a great role-model. Clay is doing such great work with Unicef. Thanks for acknowledging his hard work. Great pics!

He is doing a wonderful job for UNICEF

.
Most people are very unaware of the good work Clay Aiken does because he does it for the right reasons and not for the fame. He is truly a caring human being. He inspires me to give and I hope others will to help these children.

I hope all the people ( I use that term loosely) who have come here to post the vile comments will take a moment to look in the mirror.

WHY DON’T YOU TRY TO WALK JUST ONE STEP IN HIS SHOES — MORON!!!!!

I love this guy. He ignores the celebrity nonsense and just goes out there, helping kids here in the US and abroad. Don’t let the b******* get ya down, Clay.

A good person is willing to sleep in a tent in equatorial Africa, to try to improve people’s lives.

Clay is a good person.

yes unicef, teach your children to be beggers instead of hard workers, beg beg beg, handouts, the unicef way. Do some research on unicef you’ll see who they really are.

Eddie are you serious? Go back and look at the pictures of these children under an open sky sitting on bricks left over from the destruction of their school to learn. You may not like UNICEF and that is your propagative but please do not say that getting them a tent and giving them books is making them beggars. Walk a mile in their shoes.

I can’t believe some of the comments on here. It’s bad enough that the haters just can’t wait to hit any link that has Clay’s name attached but to berate disadvantaged children all in the name of hatred, is indeed cruel and criminal. Get a life.

Diane, Eddie Jones is infamous on any site that mentions Clay. This is all you are gonna get from him. Don’t play into his hands.

Never cared much for the guy but good for him for helping kids. Better then being a fame ho like most young celebs.

What an outstanding you man. Clay is a fine young man who helps make the world a better place…..AND…………he doesn’t seek the limelight for what he does!!

truthfully @ 07/24/2008 at 6:16 pm

The pictures speak a thousand words. Clay is a wonderful humanitarian. He should proud.

Clay is a good and kind man who is trying to help children whose lives have been devastated by poverty, war, and hatred. Unicef has saved many lives. Remember, these haters are always the same few who lay waiting to spew their hate and lies about Clay. They have no life and no one to love and care for. Best to ignore them.

23rd!!! It’s like everyone has said, you can either like Clay or hate him, but I love Clay, and have always Loved Clay, since American Idol. He is doing great work, which is more than I can say about most actresses and actor’s, who do nothing except shop and pose silly and smile for the camera. Clay will make an exceptional father and I wish him the best. He needs to ignore the harsh comments and the haters. Most are jealous who did not make it, are taking it out on Clay. Congratulations on your soon-to-be little one Clay.

Clay Aiken talks the talk AND walks the walk. Good for him for bringing attention to the good work that UNICEF does - and good for UNICEF for helping children in need all over the world!

Thank you Unicef and Clay for making a difference in our world. I love when the press will print something worthwhile about a celebrity other than vague innuendo and rumors. I love that Clay Aiken cares and will do what needs to be done! He is using his voice in many different and important ways!!!

Thanks for posting the UNICEF article about Clay Aiken’s most recent trip to Somalia and Kenya. He has chosen to use his celebrity to do good at personal risk to his safety. I am proud to be his fan.

dominique @ 07/25/2008 at 1:18 am

and im glad what he did with UNICEF…clay is amazing

Way to go Clay! UNICEF is famous for giving people a hand up so they can take control of their own lives. We who have so much need to help children in need. They are the future.

Cheesehead @ 07/26/2008 at 1:45 am

It’s a shame that all of the wonderful charity work that he does is overshadowed in the media by rumors and innuendo about his personal life. He is living out his faith. Don’t let the haters get you down, Clay!

Oh, and P.S. He’s a great singer. Unfortunately he was born at the wrong time. He would have been highly respected for his talent in the 1940’s and 50’s.

It’s fascinating to see the happy looks on the faces of the children in the photos with Clay–they are all smiling and laughing, despite the poverty and desolation all around them. Clay really has a way with kids and UNICEF is very fortunate to have him as one of their ambassadors. He doesn’t shy away from traveling to dangerous places to help those in need. I really admire him.

That photo of a handful of children still trying to attend school in a crumbling building with the only wall supporting a blackboard is very sobering. The under-appreciated advantages kids here in the USA have would blow the minds of these needy children in Somalia!

what a man!!
while rumors were flying around about the AI thingy.. he was doing what he’s got to do to draw attention to some important issues!!!
it’s a shame that ppl are still repeating the same **** about him over and over!!
