Clay Aiken Blogs For UNICEF
UNICEF Ambassador Clay Aiken recently visited the East African countries of Somalia and Kenya, where UNICEF provides children with health care, education, nutrition, clean water and sanitation.
The 29-year-old American Idol alum has written a series of blogs about his experience in the field.
Here’s a snippet of one of Clay’s blog posts: “Getting children back to school is vital for their protection, and helps build a sense of normalcy in their lives. The re-establishment of schools in the most difficult circumstances is a testament to the commitment of UNICEF and to Kenyans. Many displaced parents told UNICEF that getting their children back to school was their top priority.
“Every child has the right to an education. Education transforms lives and breaks the cycle of poverty that so many children are caught in. And an educated child will make sure his or her own children receive an education too. This is just another one of the many amazing ways UNICEF is helping children today, while also building a safer Kenya tomorrow.”

Next month, Clay will become a new father! It was announced back in May that he artificially inseminated music producer Jaymes Foster, the sister of legendary record mogul David Foster.

Thank you Unicef and Clay for making a difference in our world. I love when the press will print something worthwhile about a celebrity other than vague innuendo and rumors. I love that Clay Aiken cares and will do what needs to be done! He is using his voice in many different and important ways!!!
Thanks for posting the UNICEF article about Clay Aiken’s most recent trip to Somalia and Kenya. He has chosen to use his celebrity to do good at personal risk to his safety. I am proud to be his fan.

Way to go Clay! UNICEF is famous for giving people a hand up so they can take control of their own lives. We who have so much need to help children in need. They are the future.
It’s a shame that all of the wonderful charity work that he does is overshadowed in the media by rumors and innuendo about his personal life. He is living out his faith. Don’t let the haters get you down, Clay!
Oh, and P.S. He’s a great singer. Unfortunately he was born at the wrong time. He would have been highly respected for his talent in the 1940’s and 50’s.
It’s fascinating to see the happy looks on the faces of the children in the photos with Clay–they are all smiling and laughing, despite the poverty and desolation all around them. Clay really has a way with kids and UNICEF is very fortunate to have him as one of their ambassadors. He doesn’t shy away from traveling to dangerous places to help those in need. I really admire him.
That photo of a handful of children still trying to attend school in a crumbling building with the only wall supporting a blackboard is very sobering. The under-appreciated advantages kids here in the USA have would blow the minds of these needy children in Somalia!
what a man!!
while rumors were flying around about the AI thingy.. he was doing what he’s got to do to draw attention to some important issues!!!
it’s a shame that ppl are still repeating the same **** about him over and over!!
