Shia LaBeouf Arrested For DUI

Shia LaBeouf has been arrested for suspicion of a DUI misdemeanor.

TMZ reports the 22-year-old Transformers actor was arrested around 3 a.m. Sunday morning in Hollywood for allegedly driving drunk. Shia made a left turn in front of another car causing the two cars to collide.

Labeouf is currently undergoing surgery for a badly injured left hand.

While being interviewed on The Late Show with David Letterman in May, Shia joked, “Drinking and driving is one thing, but drinking and shopping … it’s just as bad.” What kind of jokes will Shia tell about drinking now?

Also back in November, a “pretty wasted” (those were his own words) Shia was arrested after refusing to leave a Walgreens in Chicago around four in the morning.

SHAME ON SHIA!

i was afraid this was gonna happen. he seemed headed for it.

what happened to taking your career seriously and avoiding the messy side of hollywood, shia? this is what you said before you made it big.

this is what fame does to you. disappointing. tsk, tsk.

This guy is going straight to rehab after surgery. Take note that his rep says that he’ll be back on the Transformers 2 set after a month. So that time will probably be spent recuperating on his injury and rehab.

His handlers will make sure that he does it because there’s too much at stake in terms of his career and the production schedule on his movies being affected, and Shia knows it. Whether he’ll change or not after his stint in rehab is another matter, but his handlers need to show everyone that Shia’s trying to do something about his problem.
They’ll probably use the “Shia’s getting real help” excuse with the judge so that he won’t end up spending time in jail.

You are all hypocrites. People make mistakes. It’s part of life and I guarantee everyone here ragging on Shia has made atleast one. Give the kid a break, he’s under a lot of pressure. He’s a young male trying to grow up in the spotlight of the media. Normal young males not growing up in the spotlight make the same kind of mistakes all the time. I hope he learns from this and doesn’t make the same mistake again. That’s all anyone can hope. He is a very talented young man and has a bright future ahead of him if he doesn’t succumb to the intense pressure and scrutiny of fame and everyones expectations. Get well soon Shia :)

If anyone is the hypocrite, it’s Shia. He kept on mentioning in interviews how he wouldn’t end up like Lindsay and the others because he wouldn’t throw what he had away. He also said he wanted to be known for his work and he didn’t want his private life overshadowing his work, which is what happened to others who got in trouble with the law.

He’s hardly like Lohan.

BTW Get a real life ppl ;)

Actually there are a lot of similarities between Lindsay and Shia. Both come from families that have major drug and alcohol issues. Both turned to acting at an early age to help support their families. Both started off as child stars and in their late teens were given the responsibility of being the lead actors in their movies. Maybe he’s not a publicity wh_r like Lindsay but their families are both scrwed up. Let’s hope Shia learns from what happened to Lindsay and to himself and gets his life in order.

ENOUGH LABEOUF

oh, no shia

tut tut shia

An open letter to Shia LaBeouf

Dear Mr. LaBeouf:

Let me tell you a story.

Once upon a time, there was a young, talented actress named Lindsay. Though she wasn’t the prettiest girl in Hollywood, she was instantly likable, and had a palpable screen presence. Disney discovered her, and put her in a string of movies that would win her a legion of young admirers.

As she blossomed into an attractive young adult, an older, wiser person in the business would take her under her wing, giving her a plum role in a surprise hit. This would lead to bigger (if not better) roles, and a level of stardom that no one — not even Lindsay herself — could have predicted.

Does this sound familiar, Mr. LaBeouf? Though your Disney project, “Even Stevens,” wasn’t quite “Freaky Friday” or “The Parent Trap,” you certainly hit the jackpot when it came to finding a mentor. (Don’t get me wrong — Tina Fey is no slouch, but she’s got nothing on Steven Spielberg.)

But it’s at this point of the story where things started to go south for Miss Lohan. Today, no one thinks of her as the hilarious sexpot from “Mean Girls.” They think of her as a drug user with two DUIs, a stint in rehab, one day in jail and a slew of box office bombs, each one more embarrassing than the last. Along with Amy Winehouse, Lindsay is the best (worst?) example of wasted talent in today’s Hollywood.

And now I am left to wonder if you are on the same track.

Hey, I like to go nuts at a bar and do some shots from time to time, but I don’t follow that with a joyride in my SUV that ends with it upside-down. (And I’ve certainly never been arrested at a Walgreens.)

What the heck are you doing? This is not behavior fitting of someone who is often called “the next Tom Hanks.” In 2007, you elevated a derivative potboiler into a darkly funny smash with “Disturbia,” and your affable presence did the remarkable by making “Transformers” watchable. This year, you did the truly impossible when you stole an “Indiana Jones” movie from Indiana-freaking-Jones. The trailer for September’s “Eagle Eye” — another Spielberg production — shows promise, and next year you’ll be starring in the surefire biggest movie of the year, “Transformers 2.”

There is no limit to what your future can hold, Mr. LaBeouf. Harrison Ford all but passed you the torch in “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” and once you grow out of your action-movie phase you’ll be getting meatier roles in more prestigious pictures. You are on track to be one of the great movie stars.

So don’t screw it up, kid.

Hire a driver. Watch the whiskey. Don’t bring a video camera into the bedroom. Stay away from the white stuff. And please, please don’t go anywhere near Paris Hilton.

Sincerely,
A big fan

Shia Labeouf’s Hand Crushed
———————————————————————————————–

There are new details about the extent of Shia LaBeouf’s hand injury—and they’re not pretty.

LaBeouf’s left hand was “crushed” in last weekend’s rollover car crash, and the young star will require “regular medical supervision until his doctors clear him to return to work,” LaBeouf attorney Michael Norris said in a statement Friday.

There was no new timetable for LaBeouf’s return to work on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the big-budget sequel the actor had been shooting. Earlier, pre-”crushed” reports said LaBeouf would be out a month.

A rep for Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the Transformers franchise, told E! News today that “no final decisions have been made” as to whether LaBeouf’s injury will be written into the new movie. The studio is prepared to modify its schedule for LaBeouf as needed, the rep said.

Elsewhere, LaBeouf’s publicist Melissa Kates declined comment on an Entertainment Tonight report that the 22-year-old had been released from Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

LaBeouf’s sick-bay journey began last Sunday when, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the pickup truck he was driving collided with a motorist running a red light.

“The other driver may have been traveling upwards of 50 mile per hour, and that driver may not have been looking forward at the time of the accident,” Norris said.

The other driver and LaBeouf’s passenger, Transformers costar Isabel Lucas, sustained minor injuries.

In the days following the crash, authorities went out of their way to note LaBeouf was not at fault. In his statement, Norris thanked “the many concerned citizens who have stepped forward to provide information regarding this collision.”

LaBeouf still faces a misdemeanor DUI charge as officers responding to the crash found the injured actor was, the sheriff’s department said, “exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication.”

The recuperating LaBeouf, late of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, has yet to be arraigned on the charge.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the sequel to 2007’s Transformers, has been set for a June 2009 release.
