Jon Voight: Barack Obama Will Weaken America
Jon Voight has taken a very public stance for the Republican nominee for President, Sen. John McCain. The 69-year-old actor had some very strong words for Sen. Barack Obama and shared them with The Washington Times:
“Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.
“The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America.
“And while a misleading portrait of Mr. Obama is being perpetrated by a media controlled by the Democrats, the Obama camp has sent out people to attack the greatness of Sen. John McCain, whose suffering and courage in a Hanoi prison camp is an American legend… If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.”

Angie visited Iraq recently when she was pregnant. She said that she thought the US troops needed to stay in, and that we (US) needed to spend more money on rebuilding the country. Doesn’t exactly agree with Obama’s stance; altho, I have no idea who she supports for Prez.
——-
She also said that she thinks the troops should stay and help the refugees come back and resettle in their country. That takes time.
There are roughly four million Iraqi refugees and displaced people, most of them in Syria and Jordan.
We certainly don’t know who will get Angelina’s vote.

Sorry to tell you, he is speaking the truth about Obama. Watch the world news or Hannity & Colmes for a couple of days and you’ll see this. You can’t judge the safety and obligations of who you choose as your president by whether or not other countries in the world agree with a certain presidential candidate. It is the same concept of a preacher who goes out to save the world and loses his own family. It doesn’t work. By the way, Angie is not a democrat, she is an independent. She also wrote in the same magazine, as her father, in support of McCain on the importance of staying in Iraq until there is stability from within, as we should, lest it falls apart again and another 9/11. Her father is not racist. Just because he is a white male, speaking his own beliefs about a candidate who happens to be bi-racial, does not mean he is racist. You can’t play that card all the time. Please get your facts straight before you post. Speaking lies only further discredit your chosen candidate. Thank you.

Unfortunately, some people do. People who are narrow-minded. Yes, AJ has written about the importance of keeping the troops in Iraq. That does NOT mean she is pro war.

Wow, so many of you people have totally swallowed the Obama Kool-Aid. I can’t believe you are congratulating Angelina for cutting herself off from her father — first of all, we don’t know why she did so, and secondly, you actually think that it is OK to cut yourself off from a family member because of politics? That’s sick.
I also find it interesting that you are questioning Voight’s sanity, saying he’s an “ignorant moron,” and other awful things about him because he dares to speak his mind. Many of you have even chastised him for having a political stance, reminding us that “he’s just an actor.” Do you feel the same when Sheryl Crow or Oprah Winfrey or Jennifer Aniston do the same? After all, they’re just entertainers, too. If you think it’s OK for them to say how they feel, but not Jon Voight, then you are prejudiced.

ITA!!! Like I said, some people are narrowminded.
what a dumb azz. No wonder angelina jolie cant stand him!

SHET THE F**k up YOU RACIST!
192 Orchid @ 07/29/2008 at 2:21 am
that according to the Muslims, children of a Muslim man are Muslims, in their eyes. So, the question is, was his father a Muslim? Doesn’t matter if he was a non-practicing Muslim. Was his father a Muslim?
***********************************************************************
Orchid, I don’t care if his father is a Muslim or a Holy Roller, Obama is an adult and he can practice any religion he wants to. If he says he’s not a Muslim, he’s not a Muslim. If he belongs to a Christian denomination, then he is a Christian. End of story.
——-
ITA! He can be anything, including Buddhist or Zoroastrian, as far as I’m concerned, but that was NOT the argument with Sheri. I think she has a problem with comprehension.
I almost decided to ignore her silly attack, but didn’t want her to give the wrong impression about me, so I answered.
Finally, I asked her what exactly she is accusing me of. No answer, until I found her post in this thread. That made me angry.
201 Mediterranean @ 07/29/2008 at 5:59 am
Firstly, Angelina Jolie is in touch with her father and she will not turn her back to him, just because he doesn’t like Obama.
Secondly, we have NO IDEA whom Angelina will vote, if she does. She has not supported Obama either. It’s Brad and his close friends, not her.
Thirdly, who cares who European likes as an American President, all the European countries will nicely deal with any President of U.S.A. because they HAVE TO. Look, how good they are with Bush. Noone has the guts to reject Bush who is always welcome unfortunately.
By the way, I like the Clintons and Al Gore.
——-
Besides, they don’t get to vote in the US election. I like Clinton too.
I would like to add that people don’t know who will be a good leader. If you knew beforehand what kind of president W would be, would you have voted for him? Only at the end of a president’s term can you make that judgement.
208 Hoi @ 07/29/2008 at 8:39 am
Oh, and i’m European by the way. And as a closing statement: European will deal with whoever it becomes because we have too? No, because we want too.
The only people still left in the world who thinks the U.S. is calling the shots are the average Americans themselves. At this point China could ruin you, not by military action but by simply cutting off your money supply and demanding you pay off your debts to them. (who do you think is lending you all that money you’re spending on all the useless junk in your house?)
The masses in the US, like the masses in all other countries, are ignorant, and only or mainly pay attention to MTV, American Idol, soap operas, celebrities, etc. That kind of thing, and don’t follow current affairs. As far as they’re concerned, America IS the world.
If any poster disagrees with this, then obviously you’re not one of ‘the masses.’
I read that former President Clinton himself has said in a speech that Americans better get used to the fact that soon they will be joined at the top by China! Maybe already! I read that small kids in some forward-looking schools in the US are already learning Chinese, so that ‘when they’re grown-up and looking for work, they can speak Chinese!’
Europe generally liked Clinton, laughed at Bush (why do you think we’re not in Iraq? Because we knew it would be a shithole, the same reason we’re not going full out in Afghanistan), still makes fun of Carter and Nixon and feels that Kennedy was all talk but no game (just like you Americans like your leaders, a big flashy over the top show but very little actual governing). American media has been reporting that Europe was raging over Obama’s visit - European media couldnt be more opposite. Nobody really cared, all the media buzz was from American owned media. He made a single speech, to which a few thousand visitors showed up and applauded. And then you turn on CNN and you hear ‘two hounderd thousand of Obama supporters’… give me a break, the average joe who went out to grab a drink in the city center was suddenly counted as an Obama supporter.
The MSM seems pro-Obama. Three anchors went with him on his trip. Another poster said that there was a rock concert in Berlin on the day BHO spoke.
You should have never picked McCain. Romney although not perfect was at least a man with substance. You should have never picked Obama, but rather Clinton (she’s cold and objective, something which some of you see as a negative, but me as a positive. She’s not supposed to be your best friend but your superior) or even Edwards (though the latest press about him as been anything but encouraging).
Mitt Romney is a Mormon. That’s probably one reason he was not eligible. Maybe he will be McCain’s choice for Veep.
I was also hoping Hillary would be it, but she is a woman!!!
Britain had Maggie, Germany has Angela, Pakistan had Benazir, India had Indira, Indonesia had Megawati. Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, even an African country and I think one in South America have/had women in power.
If the rumor is true about Edwards, he can take himself off the Veep candidates list.
206 Hoi @ 07/29/2008 at 8:26 am
I’m laughing my ass off at all you dumb americans, being offended because a man didn’t support your superhero Barack.
A politician should be about substance not about making the same void speech over and over again. And now you wonder why the rest of the world sees you as an empty, historically baseless society.
At this point America is being tolerated, not celebrated. And no amount of empty rhetoric from this token black man is going to change anything. Your founding fathers would roll over in their graves if they witness the monstrosity the U.S. has become.
——-
Hoi, people are upset enough. Don’t make it worse. BHO makes people feel good. Why not vote for someone who makes you feel good!
I like to add that people should not expect too much. If BHO wins, don’t expect him to change Washington and the world. He said so, but that is just talk. He tells you what he thinks you want to hear. Don’t they all. They’re politicians. He only THINKS he is a visionary.
If he wins he will be leader for four, maybe eight years. Changing Washington, let alone the world, takes much, MUCH longer than that!
politician = a person who acts in a manipulative and devious way, typically to gain advancement.
214 Darkempress @ 07/29/2008 at 10:15 am
Can celebs please stop voicing their opinions on politics. please.
——-
Why? They’re also people, entitled to their opinions, including political opinions!

There’s no need to be rude.
Now, care to explain to me why you think I’m a racist?
I agree with him 100%. Why can’t he talk of his support for a candidate? If Alec Baldwin, Sean Penn, and others can publicly speak out in support of a candidate why can’t Jon. It’s actually pretty refreshing.
whatever, he has his opinions
but im pretty sure Obama became Christian later in life, thus he would not have “grown up” listening to Rev. Wright, as he was already a grown-up
224 onmyown @ 07/29/2008 at 2:24 pm
It saddens me as an American that Mr Obama is distancing himself from his own heritage. His father is a Muslim, …….
Then, according to the Muslims, BHO was a Muslim before he became a Christian, and it is wrong for his campaign people to say that he was NEVER a Muslim and has ALWAYS been a Christian.
Not that it matter to me.
I could be wrong, but IIRC, according to the Muslims, once a Muslim, always a Muslim. I guess they mean in their eyes.
So why suddenly, would Mr. Obama distance himself to this glorious heritage?
Because he wants to be president of the USA?
Not that it matters to me.
Amen brotha! **** Barack Hussein Obama. Let me ask you democrats something. Do you want the same government that runs the DMV to run your health care. Do you want to see double digit interest rates, and higher taxes for that so called free health care? That is just the beginning, the man seriously is an abomination. Scary to think what he will do as President.
You could support McCain, and STILL be embarrassed and shocked by the rantings of this lunatic.
If anything, he just did more harm to McCain’s campaign. McCain is neither stupid, nor ill-informed, but the frantic ravings of a fear-mongering maniac sure make supporting him sound like he is.
McCain should distance himself from people like Voight if he wants to be listened to and respected.
Angelina didn’t turn away from her father because of politics, but because of his insane need to abuse and control and hurt. His insulting, unfounded, ill-informed rant here shows what he is made of — THAT is why people were congratulating Angelina on cutting the unhealthy ties to this man who is a father in name only.
He is a poison.
This man obvioulsy wants the attention of the media. He has no clue what obama has in store for the nation and he shouldn’t be talking non-sense like this. What’s more is that he is a MORON!
~Obama for president!~
What is wrong with what he has said, all you Obama supporters can’t answer one simply question, ‘ If Obama does not believe or thinks is vile like must American do what so-called Rev White has preached for 20 years why then did Obama sit in his advisor for church for years, why did he call him on numerous occasions his advisor , his mentor and put him on his spiritual advisory committee for the Presidency. How could he have not been effected by all these people he choose to befriend when they are not shy is their anti-American and anti-white feeling and actions and preaching.
He’s such an idiot…This is the kind of fucked up thinking and statements that has him estranged from his children. What a loser!
Are any of you old enough to remember “Jimmy Carter”! Well, vote for Mr. Obama if you want the same! A good off the cuff speaker but no substance, no experience, all fluff! By the way, Mr. Carter was one of the greatest presidential disasters of all time!
Jon Voight has a point here. Obama’s background is still a mystery for some. Age is not the only main factor to be president. Ronald Reagan is older than McCain and he served two terms successfully. Angie and Jon’s disagreement however is private. Angie said in one recent interview that they are already communicating in private.
Can any BHO supporter explain why BHO’s campaign people don’t want American citizens wearing headscarves sitting behind him when he is speaking?
1. John Voight is entitled to his opinions which I agree with. Freedom of speech, remember?
2. You idiots here seem to think that his daughter, Angelina is a democrat, but she has said many times that she is registered an independent like myself, although I’ve voted Democrat until this coming election.
3. Have you read Angelina’s op-ed in the Washington Post a few months back after she visited Iraq? She sounded like a Republican to me. I think she was a democrat until she went to Iraq and changed her mind about her politics. Since most Hollywood is liberal, Angelina has to claim that she’s an independent. She has worked and gotten along very well with Clint Eastwood who’s a well know Republican.
