People Magazine Wins Bid For Brad and Angelina’s Twins’ Pictures
JustJared.com has just learned that People magazine has drummed up the winning bid for the first pictures of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s twins - Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. It is rumored that the winning bid is between $10 million and $15 million. The pictures will come up in a future People magazine issue (but not this week!). The money paid to Brad and Angelina has already been earmarked for charity.
Also, Food and Wine has recently put together restaurants and recipes for the family of 8! Restaurants for large families have been picked by select food bloggers in New York City, Washington D.C., New Orleans, San Francisco and Seattle. Simple, classic and kid-friendly French recipes were also included.

Aggie @ 07/30/2008 at 12:59 am Celebs have had their kids pics in or on magazines for a long time. No one says a thing when a b or c lister from dancing with the stars or melissa joan hart shows off their kids and homes for money and publicity. And they arent even being hounded. Not even other big stars who sell their kids pix, like jlow, paltrow, mcconaughey, s. Crow, etc. Got criticized. And they kept the money. Double standard! Yet the jp’s keep doing the right thing. That is why i admire them.

ITA. nobody utter a word when JLo, JAlba, MM sold their baby’s picture and pocketed themselves. but when Brad and Angie done it and donated to charities. lot of whinning start coming out. double standard.
Hope this is true!
better for charity to get the money than the rich media. X fans would come up with anything idiotic just to be critical of the JOLIE PITT

There’s no way Maniston ’s baby could fetch that much money. ( In case she had one).
1st, she is not a big star outside the demography of North America , her star power outside this region is parallel to JLSpear.
2nd, after her sitcom ended, her star power is declining rapidly just like her aging process.
3rd like JLO or NicoleK , they might be popular but not their partner. I’m sure JLo and BAffleck baby’s would worth more than what she get now.
GOD BLESS THE JOLIE-PITTS!

Much thanks for the photos. What a beautiful family! May the Jolie-Pitt tribe increase.
love this family and im glad that people won the bid. i’ll totally pick people any day over ok! people’s also one of the more reliable celebrity tabloid magazine. i really cant for the pictures- when will the future people magazine be??
Well, that’s one magazine I’m SURE I won’t buy. Kind of like a protest, cause I absolutely DETEST these two.
Stop complaining you sons of *******. That’s $15 million going to charity. If there is any way to raise money for a good cause than you should pursue it. Brad and Angie have done the right thing.
OT: Is People Mag already tired of the Jennifer & John Mayer coupling or is it on demise??? from People website :
John Mayer Talks Sleeping Arrangements – While Jen Looks On
It’s official: Jennifer Aniston is a John Mayer groupie. After trekking with him to shows in Michigan, Wisconsin and St. Louis this month alone, she put in another low-key appearance Sunday night in Irvine, Calif.
Early in the two-hour show – while Aniston looked on – Mayer prefaced a cover of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’ ” with a bit of detail about his plans for the evening.
“Just like me, this song gets to sleep in its own bed tonight,” he said, apparently happy to be home after a whirlwind tour of the Midwest.
But Mayer seemed to make a point of any overt references his romance with Aniston, saying more than once that the night would be about “more music” and “less talk.”
Do i hear a loud “OUCH” from the maniston fans???
Could someone tell me if other mags get the first pics besides People? I’m asking because People WASN’T alone with exclusive pics of Shiloh - OK! magazine (before they started publishing the Canadian version) got the same pics.
If I remember correctly…
1) People got the North American rights (Canada, America, & parts of South America)
2) OK! got the rights for the U.K (Britain, Scotland & Wales); & most of Europe)
{not sure if true}
3) [unknown magazine] for Australia & New Zealand
4) ]unknown magazine] for Africa
5) ]unknown magazine] for Asia
6) ]unknown magazine] for Russia
All paying of them paying the highest amounts AFTER People while tabs like In touch, Star, US, etc. were COMPLETELY SHUT-OUT (& are stll bitter about?
I believe that People & OK! mags both wrote checks to the charities Brad & Angie would have specified in whatever documents were drawn up, & they (for the dumb: People & OK! magazines) would get back for said charities receipts for tax purposes…
As someone posted above - Getty was the intermediary between the mags & the charities - Neither Brad nor Angie EVER saw a dime. I’m sure the same is true here.
Congats on their ever expanding family… Love should never be small & petty; it’s far too powerful for that. LOVE is ever-expanding (& as my grandmother used to say: “Love made the universe & love made3 all living things.” {I admit, I’m still not sure what she meant by that… but it’s a lovely sentiment, nonetheless}
‘Bye
jon voight is supporting mccain. what a idiot. john mccain says social security is broken and will not last but he collects as much as 30,000 a year in social security checks, he does not donate it to charity which would be honorable, so if brad and angie wants to do this phototshoot and donate to charity we should appauld them for being decent and giving people .anyone who supports mccain for prez is a non feeling moron
Can we make a pack not to discuss Voight’s politics here? There’s a thread for that and it was bad enough.
Hello and kaway sa lahat ng mga JP fans around the world!!!!
I will buy People mag.for sure!!!!can’t wait to see the twin pics.
Thanks Jared!

The Knox name rocks into stardom
Lee Crossley
22Jul08
KNOX made world headlines this week after Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt named one of their twins Knox Leon.
Knox councillor Mick Van der Vreede isn’t surprised by the celebrity couple’s decision he thinks other parents should follow suit.
“It’s not surprising though given Knox is such a great place,” he said.
“We never realised Angelina and Brad held us in such high esteem.”
David Lindsay’s website babynames.com.au says Knox is Irish meaning “from the hills”.
And he said it was a sensible choice in today’s age. “It’s a solid name and it’s uncommon, which I think a lot of people like for these days,” he said. “Some names go in and out of favour, but a name like Knox is one that’s reasonably timeless.”
Mr Lindsay said the name Knox would probably be adopted by other parents, given the couple’s status. “It’s possible, and it’s an acceptable name whereas Sunday Rose (the name of Nicole Kidman’s baby) isn’t likely to be repeated in a hurry,” he said.
_____
Um, maybe it is just me, but I don’t get this article. What “place” is this guy citing and who is this guy? I doubt the Jolie-Pitts named Knox after this place or person or whatever this article is saying.
It was Hello not OK who got the Shiloh pictures along with people.
There was anti MC Cain rant before someone praised MC Cain here, Lucky. Why didn’t you whine about the politics in this thread at that time. I get it it you don’t mind Pro Obama pieces but against Pro Mc Cain. An Pro Obama person started the political stuff first. Personally while I am a big fan of MC Cain, I would rather keep politics out of the JP thread. JP have fans of many different political, religious and other beliefs.
Thanks JJ;)

There is a movement afoot. Led by pioneering efforts in the west, primarily California, a green initiative is taking root across the nation. Political leaders, corporations, manufacturers, contractors, and ordinary citizens are joining the growing march toward environmental sustainability. Even Hollywood celebrities are enlisting in the battle and tackling new roles: Brad Pitt’s “Make It Right” project in New Orleans includes building affordable housing using all-green guidelines. Daryl Hannah’s eco-friendly, solar-powered home in Colorado includes a soft, moss-covered couch made of stone. Actor Ed Begley campaigns tirelessly for environmental awareness along with Bobby Kennedy Jr., and Edward Norton started the Solar Neighbors Program in which celebrities tout the virtues of solar power.
And Colorado’s painting contractors are enlisting in the battle. Denver-based painting contractor, Patriot Painting Professionals, Inc. is volunteering a project, in cooperation with non-profit firm Designs for Hope, to paint and remodel the interior of a Denver battered women’s shelter in August 2008 utilizing next generation green products. The newest generation of green paints contain no harmful elements, have no effect on indoor air quality, and are today’s premium and highest grade products available.
According to the National Academy of Sciences, “It is vital that all nations identify steps that they can take now to contribute to substantial and long-term reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions.” In addition to utilizing green products when painting your home, there are things we all can to do to ensure a sustainable future:
1. Start With A Home Audit, sometimes offered for free by your local energy company or for a fee by private firms to see how your home is performing.
2. Plant Trees to provide shade and wind protection, which will reduce heating and cooling costs.
3. Use A Programmable Thermostat to keep the temperature at 78 degrees in summer and 62 degrees in winter when no is home or everyone is sleeping.
4. Plug Air Leaks around doors, windows, and other spots with weather-stripping and caulk.
5. Switch To Fluorescent Light Bulbs. Replacing just 5 incandescent bulbs with CFLs can save you $100 per year on electricity bills.
A healthy and sustainable future lies in the marriage of an awareness of the interconnectedness of all things and in the finding of a harmonious balance between our daily living and an appropriate respect for our environment.

Universal’s global presence pays off
New director for movie studio, theme parks
By Alex Ben Block
July 29, 2008, 07:16 PM ET
The Cannes premiere of “Changeling”
With the paparazzi busy flashing pictures of Clint Eastwood and Angelina Jolie at the Cannes premiere of their new drama, “Changeling,” it was easy to overlook the fact that the movie was part of a vastly expanded international strategy at Universal.
This was only the second year that the studio was on the Riviera acting as its own international sales agent and distributor.
That reflected a shift in direction that has encompassed both the movie studio and its theme parks, initiated by Universal Studios president and COO Ron Meyer, Universal Pictures chairs Marc Shmuger and David Linde, and Tom Williams, Universal Parks and Resorts chairman and CEO.
For most of the past two decades, Universal had been partnered in United International Pictures (UIP), a joint venture with other studios to distribute their movies outside North America. That began to wind down after Universal announced the formation of its own international distribution system, Universal Pictures International (UPI), in January 2007.
“If there is a growth business, which I believe there is, it’s international,” Meyer says. “There’s still a chance for home video to grow; and I think there’s a chance for theatrical to grow. (But abroad) there’s real opportunity.”
This philosophy has led the studio not only to handle its own distribution internationally, but also to increase its involvement in local production around the world, distributing some local product worldwide and some specifically in the territory where each film is made.
“It’s hugely important,” Meyer says. “You pick up films that are indigenous to certain territories, and for a small price can do quite well. At one point we picked up a film for Germany, ‘7 Dwarves,’ and it was one of the highest-grossing films in the history of (that country).” That movie earned $22.3 million in Germany alone.

Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious ********” may soon find a home at Universal.
Studio is in negotiations to partner with the Weinstein Co. to bring the World War II drama to the bigscreen. Although deal points are still being ironed out, insiders say a pact is imminent.
The “Pulp Fiction” helmer and Harvey Weinstein met with five studios last week about co-financing the film, and it came down to Paramount and Universal. Par, which wanted to distribute the film in foreign territories, balked at a component of the pact that dealt with how grosses would be accounted given the way that Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” contract was structured.
Tarantino recently met with Brad Pitt to play the role of Aldo Raine, though that deal is said to be a long way from closing. Pitt and Universal will need to mend fences following bad blood over Pitt dropping out of U’s “State of Play” last year at the eleventh hour.
Shooting is scheduled to begin on “Inglorious ********” in the fall in Germany and France.

Cali hit by Earthquake
A Pair of Earthquake Movie Moments
A husband and wife in Los Angeles were both – what else – separately watching films when today’s tremor hit. But his Woody Allen was no match for her Brad Pitt.

By Richard Horgan
Masterful timing, even for him
At the time of today’s earthquake, I was sitting in a Beverly Hills screening room with about two dozen others, watching Woody Allen’s new film Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The shaking began just a few minutes before the first appearance in the narrative of Penélope Cruz’s fiery ex-wife character.
Of course, the more appropriate timing for what turned out to be, thankfully, a non-fatal 5.4 magnitude tremor would have been for it to occur during one of the scenes where Cruz’s kooky Maria Elena goes loco. There are several such moments.
Across town, in Glendale, my wife Dawn was on the treadmill at home, watching a TV broadcast of Ocean’s Thirteen. And when you read what happened with her, you might say to yourself ‘Only in Hollywood’ and sure enough, I cannot blame you for thinking this couldn’t happen anywhere else.
In the better-than-the-second and not-as-good-as-the-first Vegas-set adventure, Danny Ocean and the boys set about triggering an earthquake at a key moment in their high-stakes hotel heist. At first, it doesn’t work, so Brad Pitt’s character of Rusty Ryan - from the craps table - exhorts a pair of his colleagues (played by Scott Caan and Casey Affleck) to ‘Hit ‘em harder!’ It was at that exact moment, while on the treadmill, that my wife experienced today’s unwelcome return of the SoCal shaker. So at first, for a brief moment, she thought that perhaps some revolutionary home version of Sensuround had been added to the broadcast.
As it stands, my wife can safely boast that she felt the earth move while in the company of Brad Pitt. And if you had to pick, circa 2008, a celebrity to spend your final moments with, it would be hard to beat Brad (for the women) or Angelina (for the men). Although in the latter case, you could certainly do worse than Rebecca Hall (Vicky) and Scarlett Johansson (Cristina).
Adding yet another movie layer to the experience is the fact that the Beverly Hills screening room in question is directly across the hall from the first floor offices of Real D, the vaunted 3D movies technology purveyor that is currently juicing up Journey to the Center of the Earth. Their 3D is good, but it’s not quite as impressive as 5.4D.

Similar to Cannes this year, the Lido’s upcoming edition, which unspools Aug. 27-Sept. 6, is lighter on Yank pics, largely due to a dearth caused by the writers strike.
“One of the effects of the strike is that so many releases of movies that would have been right for Venice have been pushed by the studios to December, or even later,” director Marco Mueller said at a packed press conference in Rome’s Excelsior Hotel on the Via Veneto.
“Very few (studios) were willing to run the risk of piracy by world premiering a movie so many months before its theatrical release,” added the Venice topper, underlining that, with five American pics vying for the Golden Lion, the U.S. presence at the Lido is still strong.
Why is “US” the only mag carrying the story about “People” getting the pics? “People” does not even have it? Is Jared turning in to “US” mag subsite?
