I doubt this is a case of Tarantino not wanting DiCaprio. After Gangs of NY, Blood Diamond and The Departed, Leo is, by far, the more ’serious’ respectable actor. And, only one unnamed source has said Leo is not negotiating ********.

Makes one wonder though…seems as though there is possibly underlying issues between Pitt and DiCaprio. As soon as we hear Pitt may be interested, we hear DiCaprio is not. And DiCaprio pulled out of Good Shepherd. I do know Leo and Tobey Maguire are best friends and Tobey’s wife, Jennifer Meyer, is a close friend of Jennifer Aniston. Maybe it’s too uncomfortable?

Or maybe it’s just as simple as scheduling conflicts.

I know Pitt and Grey executive produced The Departed, but that’s quite different from working creatively together as actors. The latest vanity piece (of a career of many) to me was Assassination….though I actually like it for the phenomenal work by Casey Affleck.

I’m sorry…I’m just not a Pitt, the actor, fan as most here know. To me, he’s a little bit like JA in that versatility is a problem for him. I find myself snickering when he takes on heavy Russell Crowe - type roles.

LOS ANGELES – Weary of the scrums of photographers chasing celebs at the airport, on the beach and through the streets, some Los Angeles-area leaders are contemplating tougher regulations against the people who make their living by catching celebrities off-guard.

Officials from celeb enclaves in and around Los Angeles such as Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Malibu and Calabasas are convening Thursday for the first time to discuss ways to combat paparazzi, whose tactics have grown more aggressive and confrontational in the past few years.

Their goal is for each city to adopt its own ordinances to punish aggressive paparazzi, while keeping the rules uniform in the places where celebrities live, work and play.

“This is a response to their lack of responsible behavior,” said Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine, an outspoken paparazzi critic and organizer of the task force.

Zine proposed a “personal safety zone” around celebrities earlier this year that police officials said would be virtually unenforceable. He’s also floated the idea of legitimizing the paparazzi – who are freelancers by definition – by giving them credentials, and in turn, clear rules.

The paparazzi have provided plenty of fodder for scrutiny of late.

Last week, Halle Berry said she’s seeking criminal charges against photographers who she says trespassed in her backyard to get shots of the Oscar-winning actress and her 4-month-old daughter. The same day, guards for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got into a bloody tussle with a pair of camouflage-wearing paparazzi near the couple’s home in France.

In June, a group of Malibu surfers fought with photographers who were trying to get shots of Matthew McConaughey on the waves.

Zine and other civic leaders say they’re concerned that, left unchecked, the aggressive photographers will either drive away entertainers, or worse – harm them or an innocent bystander. A recent inquest partially blamed pursuing paparazzi for the 1997 deaths of British Princess Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, in France, a scenario Zine and others say they hope to avoid in Los Angeles.

For the paparazzi’s part, Zine’s idea of registration is one the shooters themselves have considered. “Certify photographers to work as paparazzi,” suggested Arnold Cousart, a co-founder of photo agency JFX Direct. That way, he said if they get into trouble, police will know who is legit and who isn’t.

Los Angeles-area law enforcement officials so far have preferred to use existing laws – such as the loitering statute used to arrest the photographers near Spears’ house – rather than endorse new regulations.

“As it stands today, the sheriff’s department is confident and comfortable that the laws that exist provide enough to ensure the safety and security of residents,” said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca.

Baca is expected to participate in the task force because he prefers to be involved in discussions about new regulations, Whitmore said.

He noted that enforcing current regulations can be difficult, as the Malibu surfer melee revealed: Despite numerous online videos of the altercation, Whitmore said neither the paparazzi nor anyone else has yet to present investigators with an unedited version that could reveal what really happened. No arrests have been made.

Mueller and his team previously announced that the Coen brothers’ dark CIA comedy Burn After Reading will open the event and, while an Oscar win for a comedy is about as unlikely as a snowstorm in July, it would take a brave pundit to bet against Joel and Ethan, who won three statuettes for No Country For Old Men back in February.

Speaking of early contenders, Toronto, which unveils its lineup in a piecemeal way over the course of several weeks, has secured a world premiere berth for The Duchess starring Keira Knightley as the outspoken 18th century Duchess of Devonshire. Knightley will face stiff competition from Angelina Jolie, whose work as a traumatised mother in Clint Eastwood’s period mystery Changeling
mesmerised critics in Cannes.

That Jolie, Knightley, Jenkins and the late Heath Ledger have gained early traction in the race is down to Hollywood’s massive publicity machine. Studios hire awards consultants who in turn start to draft campaigns in the summer and spend the ensuing months making sure we never stop hearing about this actor or that film. It’s like Chinese water torture. TV ads in the US are already talking up Emma Thompson’s “Oscar-worthy” performance as Lady Marchmain in the British feature adaptation of Brideshead Revisited.

I like the idea Brad and Ed Norton are together in this movie. They were so good in Fight Club. Brad is beautiful in that picture.

Guys I was tallking to some friends of mine who had been working in New Orleans.

Any ways they didn’t even know that I was a fan of the Jolie-pitts,
I didn’t even know they knew of them but it turns out they met them when they were in New Orleans and got to tallking about the work that my friend was doing in New Orleans.

They also discussed the fact that my friends daughter had just come back from doing work in Africa.

This all really impressed both Brad and Angie who showed there support for my friends activities by buying him a motor home.

He was doing a lot traveling as he did relief work and often lived in his van anyways it was getting old so they offered to help him out and sure enough they did.

So cool , don’t you think. I love this story, he told me they were amazing really kind people with a huge heart.

I bet you they do alot of little things like that all the time. Such lovely people.

The haters allways go on and on about how they should give away the money quitely but I bet you they do as is proof in this case.
The only time it gets published is when the media catches wind of it. Or when they want to rise awarness of something and put there money were there mouth is .

The bi-coastal (if you count the Mississippi River as a coast) movie producer is in the midst of post-production on Steven Soderbergh’s two-part life of Che Guevara, “The Argentine” and “The Guerrilla,” and has “Tree of Life,” starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, in front of cameras now. But with his company, River Road Entertainment, he’s adding “The Runaways” into that mix.

“The Runaways” will be about the ’70s all-female punk band already immortalized in the documentary, “Edgeplay.” (Their biggest hit? “Cherry Bomb.”)

The iconic French New Wave director Jean-Luc Godard once quipped that all you need to make a movie is “a girl and a gun”.

Of course, it helps that the girl is Angelina Jolie and not, say, Camilla Parker Bowles, and the gun is not some dinky little thing that fits into the palm of a hand.

Instead it’s powerful enough to send a bullet through a line of heads all lined up like 10 green bottles.

Where modern movies do diverge from the famous Godard maxim is that the girl is no mere accessory, the seductive catalyst for the action or the leading man’s prize, but the one pumping out the bullets. Nowadays all you need is a girl with a gun.

And no double-barrelled action hero wields a weapon with more assurance and allure than Jolie.

Once she takes aim those famous features all tighten with hair-trigger intensity that’s at once sexy and scary.

While Jolie in full flight is probably worth the price of a ticket alone, the film wrapped around her artfully tattooed body is a real surprise package — a high-octane, visually striking action movie that somehow manages to be distinctive in this age of modern comic book hyperbole.

While Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight is full of cars and trucks and a tank-like Batmobile powering through Gotham City’s deep shadows, Timur Bekmambetov is similarly obsessed with vaulting vehicles.

But in Wanted the cars take flight as readily as birds, flying through the air to give a shooter a clear aim at his, or her, cowering target.

Wanted is as visually extravagant as you’d expect from the Kazakhstan-born Bekmambetov, whose previous eye-popping entertainments Night Watch and Day Watch have improbably garnered an international cult following despite their Russian dialogue.

Casting Jolie as a member of a brotherhood of assassins (a no-brainer after she fired teenage imaginations as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider), was smart, but in my opinion, not Bekmambetov’s smartest move.

His real coup was getting Atonement Oscar-nominee James McAvoy for the central role.

McAvoy (also seen recently as the doctor in the right place at the wrong time in The Last King of Scotland) plays an office drone whose dull life is turned upside when he’s told by Jolie’s Fox that his father was a member of the same secret society and its sacred task is to murder bad guys in order to maintain the balance between order and chaos. McAvoy’s Wesley initially flees from his destiny, scared witless during the first of the film’s several stunning car chase sequences, that begins with him being “swallowed” up by a speeding sports car driven by Fox and ending with the vehicle twirling balletically over a bus.

However, after staring horrifically into the void that is his life, Wesley decides he will accept his destiny and make use of his unnatural skill, that is, his ability to “bend” bullets and make them go round corners, reaching their target with lethal accuracy.

But before Wesley can be given an assignment he must go through a punishing initiation ritual conducted by Fox and other members of the 1000-year-old brotherhood.

This involves a series of sadistic tests whose aim is to turn this nerdy pencil-pusher into a remorseless killing machine.

All of this sounds like the stuff of a routine action movie. But Bekmambetov, in adapting a series of comics created by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones, has treated this rather familiar material with genuine wit and imagination, a blending of comedy and action and, after a startling twist in the second half, some surprisingly dark psychological drama.

Bekmambetov manages to pull off these considerable changes in mood chiefly because of the hugely talented McAvoy, who reveals a Jack Lemmon-like gift for Everyman comedy in the early parts of Wanted and, after getting his assassin’s stripes, is surprisingly convincing wielding a gun.

Jolie, by contrast, has very little to say, apart from a nice little speech revealing her dark past (she has the acting chops to go with the screen goddess looks). But when her killer babe swings into action Wanted kicks into top gear. I could have done without all the metaphysical claptrap to do with a magical loom sending out coded messages about whom the universe wants dispensed with next.

And the army of mice with bombs strapped to their backs seems to leap out of another movie, perhaps a twisted out-take from Ratatouille.

But wackiness is part of the package in a film with killers so adept they can shoot the wings off flies, duelling assassins who are able to stop each other’s bullets with one of the

The UN risks failure in Darfur, says the outgoing head of UN peacekeeping
United Nations peacekeepers are stretched to their limit, the outgoing head of UN peacekeeping, Jean-Marie Guehenno, has warned.

Mr Guehenno, who held the post for eight years, told the BBC there was a danger UN troops could be misused.

“The international community… faced with a tragedy, wants to do something,” says Mr Guehenno. “To deploy blue helmets can look like the easy answer.”

Mr Guehenno also said that peacekeepers now in Darfur were under-resourced.

Mr Guehenno said that using UN peacekeepers in the wrong circumstances risked failure.

“The blue helmets, they are there to support the process, the supposed political agreement,” he told the BBC. “If there is no political agreement there is a real risk that the force will not make a difference.”

Someone is making a movie about The Runaways? I wonder if this is another docu or a biopic. If it’s a biopic I’m dying to see who they get to play Joan Jett. Maybe Joan can play herself. Anybody seen that woman recently? She must have a portrait in her attic that looks like shite on a stick. Damn. She’s like 48 and could probably past 32 or 33 in the right light. IF this is a biopic it ought to be one of those rare films where 4 actresses could all have killer roles. Each and every woman in The Runaways was a piece of work. Joan Jett is rather obvious, but Lita Ford was/is off her freaking rocker, Michael Steele was a hippy chick and then she went on to do that idiot Bangles group and put out some of the worst chick music ever and Cherie Currie isn’t as well known as the other three, but she was as wacked out at the other 3…and the rest of the women that came in and out of the band before they finally disbanded for good in 1979. This could actually be a very interesting project for a lot of up-and-coming actrresses. I could see Ellen Pge from Juno being a very convincing Joan Jett…and not just saying that because of the lezzie rumors about her either. She’s a good actress so she could pull it off and be convincing.

Everytime I read these stories about Brad being in negotiations for IB it reminds me of that Newsweek Oscar Roundtable from early 2007 when David Ansen said most actors, no matter how many accolades or awardds, fear they’ll never work again and did the panel member have that same fear. Pics of the twins,Brad making another movie that seems to be talked about everywhere. WOOT! Its going to be a good yr for Brad Pitt and that couldnt make me any happier. That’s what I figured. It was too late to make this week’s deadline and I can’t imagine they’d want to hold on to the photos for very long. I’m sure they’re anxious to blast all the other tabs out of the water - especially OK. What remains to be seen is which international magazines will get the pictures.

I’m not sure which other magazine got the pictures. All they’re saying is “in the fight for the first pictures of Hollywood star babies Knox and Vivienne, it’s the American magazine People who won.” They’re saying that OK magazine wanted to pay 11 million dollars but that when it came to the most sought-after pictures, American magazines were willing to spend the money to get them. Paris Match is calling it the exclusive of the century, lol. Also that People paid 6 million dollars for Shiloh’s pics and 15 million for the twins’ pics, and that just like with Shiloh, all the money will go to charity.

Angelina Jolie spent her days in hospital crying after her twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were born, because she couldn’t bear to be away from her other children Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh.

The new mother spent days prior to the birth in a French hospital requiring bed rest, but her mental turmoil was more difficult than any physical affliction, according to In Touch.

A source tells the publication: “She was a wreck after Knox and Vivienne were born. She cried for the whole week.”

The 33-year felt confined within four walls and hated being stuck in her room like a “caged animal”. The source continues, “It was very frustrating for her not being able to do as much as she liked.”

“It tore Angelina apart to be away from the other kids,” added the source. “She had just been sitting in bed with tears running down her face, longing to see them.”

Since leaving the hospital two weeks ago, the Wanted actress has secured a magazine deal which has valued the twins at $15 million.

The bidding war for exclusive rights to the first pictures of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s twins is reportedly over.

It’s rumoured that U.S magazine People has cut a deal worth up to $15 million to publish photos of little Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline.

Just Jared reports that we can expect to see the latest additions to the Brangelina clan on a future cover of the rag - possibly sooner rather than later if the paparazzi manage to get their own first snaps.

Following the frenzy surrounding the twins’ arrival on 12 July, it was estimated that their pictures could fetch as much as $20 million.

But $15 million still puts them in a league of their own when it comes to stars cashing in on their newborns.

Here’s the top ten most expensive celebrity baby photos, as compiled by Access Hollywood:

Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker has set the bar very high for Gotham City villains, and all actors, but reports in the US say studio bosses have set their sights on Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.

“Producers are convinced that the role of The Riddler is perfect for Depp. Johnny’s a pro. He’ll be able to take direction and still make the character his own. And what better Penguin is there than Philip Seymour Hoffman?” a source said. They could be joining Angelina Jolie - the actress is reported to be after the role of Catwoman. But many fans have expressed their feelings about having the tabloid hotness join the franchise, and a extremely large number of them do not feel she’s good for this franchise. Many feel she’s to skinny and her circus life will zap all the life out of the film. Plus the Catwoman character is played out, Jolie could do nothing with it. The Dark Knight has smashed box office records in the US, taking $314 million in just 10 days.

There is even talk of it challenging Titanic to become the biggest movie of all time. Titanic took $600 million in the US. The Dark Knight certainly looks set to reach second place in the all-time chart and beat Star Wars, which made $460 million.
