Brad Pitt in one step closer to playing Lieut. Aldo Raine in Quentin Tarantino’s uberviolent WWII project Inglorious Bastards.
Reps for the 44-year-old actor confirmed to EW that Brad is currently in negotiations to star in the Universal Pictures flick. It’s also been said that Tarantino is NOT interested in Leonardo DiCaprio playing the role of Col. Hans Landa.
As reported a few weeks ago, Inglorious Bastards will shoot this fall in Germany and also in France, where Brad, partner Angelina Jolie, and their six kids have been residing.
In late August, Mr. Pitt and pal George Clooney are expected to open the 65th annual Venice Film Festival and promote their new flick, the Coen Brothers’ Burn After Reading.

This rumor has been floating around for at least 2 years now. I frst saw it in the summer of 2006 after she had Shiloh. They said the movie was going to shoot in the fall of 2006…then Plan B announced Angie was doing AMH. I think this is one of those movies that her name has been attached to for publicity purposes and to get the project greenlit. I could have sworn that at Cannes last year Angie was asked about this movie and she said she was NOT doing it.

Hello! has secured an exclusive multi-million pound deal for the first photos of Hollywood megastars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s newborn twins, it has emerged.
The magazine outbid rival publication OK! for the rights for the first photos of the twins Knox and Vivienne.
A magazine insider said: “This is one of the publishing sensations of the decade - Brad and Angelina are the dream couple of the glossy magazine world and we expect to triple our circulation because of the public’s fascination and interest in the couple and their children.”
Hello! has brought its publication date forward to Monday August 4 to capitalise on the publishing coup.
The twins - Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline - were born on July 13 at the Lenval hospital in southern France.
Jolie and Pitt already have a daughter, Shiloh Nouvel, who was born in Namibia in 2006.
The couple have also adopted three children: six-year-old Maddox, from Cambodia; Zahara, aged three, from Ethiopia; and four-year-old Pax from Vietnam.

After honoring such household names as James Cameron, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg in past years, the Visual Effects Society (VES) will bestow its 2009 lifetime achievement award upon producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall of The Kennedy/Marshall Co. The two began their professional collaboration in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark and produced the three Indian Jones sequels. Marshall is credited with producing more than fifty films, and Kennedy’s credits include the blockbusters E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park and The Sixth Sense.
Founded in 1992, The Kennedy/Marshall Co. has produced such successful films such as Seabiscuit and the Bourne Trilogy. Their films have garnered dozens of Academy Award nominations, including six nods for The Sixth Sense and seven for Seabiscuit. David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is their latest project. The film employs vfx technology to age star Brad Pitt to depict the character’s story over the course of a lifetime.
Kennedy and Marshall are in good company as VES honorees. In addition to Cameron, Lucas and Spielberg, past recipients have included vfx guru Dennis Muren and Oscar-wining filmmaker Robert Zemeckis (Beowulf, The Polar Express, Forrest Gump).

She’s not about to be disarmed by the boyish grin of James McAvoy in the nominal lead role of Wesley Gibson, who starts off as just another chump daydreaming in front of his office computer. Like the heroes of The Matrix (1999) and Fight Club (1999), he needs a new direction in life - and finds one, when he’s recruited into an ancient guild of superhuman assassins who take their orders from a Loom of Fate.
This is a power fantasy of an unusually masochistic kind: Wesley has to absorb a great deal of physical punishment as he practises putting spin on his bullets or shooting the wings off flies.
Psychologically speaking, he is at one point of an oedipal triangle, forced to choose between rival father figures while Jolie (as his more experienced colleague) acts as an alternately cruel and tender foster mother.
Timur Bekmambetov is best known in the West as the director of the Russian blockbusters Night Watch (2004) and Day Watch (2005); in his Hollywood debut, he pushes the same cluttered, off-kilter visual style a step further, freely bending the laws of space and time.
As a live-action cartoon this is not on the level of Speed Racer, but after the spectacularly unlikely climax it would be no surprise if Jolie were to wink at the camera in the final shot

The magazine outbid rival publication OK! for the exclusive pictures, which are estimated to be worth £5.5m.
The magazine has brought forward publication of the issue featuring the images to 4 August.
Angelina gave birth to Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline on 13 July at the Lenval hospital in southern France.
Hello! also secured the rights to the first photos of Jolie and Pitt’s first daughter together, Shiloh Nouvel, who was born in Namibia in 2006.
The celebrity couple also have three adopted children - six-year-old Maddox, from Cambodia, Zahara, 3, from Ethiopia, and four-year-old Pax from Vietnam.
Jolie and Pitt, dubbed Brangelina by the press, are expected to donate the fee for the photographs to charity.
