Vanessa looks gorgeous as usual on the cover. I think she is right when she says not talking about her relationship with Zac , works. So far so good for them in that dept. Stars who gush about their relationships to everyone have nothing to call their own as far as privacy is concerned. Everyone knows everything and that can some time cause problems.
She should be heading out soon for her tour if she hasn’t already. I wish she was coming somewhere near Virginia or even Washington DC. Oh , well maybe next time. Hopefully someone who goes to one of her concerts can fill us in. I’m anxious to hear what songs she decides to sing.
I guess she takes acting seriously. That must be why she thinks taking upon a role can potentially make her embrace the characteristics of the role permanently.

#46 I think what people aren’t understanding is how is what she said ignorant? You adimt that the typical depiction of hispanic characters are as drug dealers, gang members, teen mothers, etc. Gabrella Montez is a definte departure from that.
Nobody is saying there are postivie influences for Hispanic people to look up to. Just that mainstream Hollywood doesn’t present them very often. Those are the key words in her statement “very often.” I see nothing wrong with what she said.
I also want to address the people who are jumping on Vanessa for her remark about not wanting to play something that will mess her up mentally. Daniel Day Lewis turned down the role of Lestat in “Interview with the Vampire” for that reason. He didn’t want to deal with that kind of darkness day in and day out. Would anybody consider him a “bad method actor?”
More recently there has been spectualation that the effect playing the Joker in “The Dark Knight” had on Heath Ledger played some role in his death. I’m not sure I buy that but who knows?
So Vanessa is right sometimes “Actors can really take it in.”

As far as the album, it is true and you can check it out, Hollywood Records did very little promoting and that’s a fact. And not every site is negative to Vanessa….there are many that adore her, and we’re not talking tweens and teens only. I am sick of the little twelve year old jerks saying that if you dislike a celebrity you are just jealous. Honestly, the reason I don’t care for Vanessa is because I hear about her day in and day out because HSM is way over advertised and it is sickening. I used to like her before HSM took over the minds of everyone. It is possible to dislike someone and not be jealous of them.
I don’t like the cover. She is much prettier than that and that cover doesn’t show it off, and I liked the interview. She seems professional. Hopefully as she starts acting more HSM will fade away and her acting skills will develop.
I’m not going into all the ethnic backgrounds of Vanessa Hudgens as she has a lot. But that’s just it, she isn’t just a white chick and she is honored to play an ethnic role that is a POSITiVE role model. As more than one person has said, many Hispanics are portrayed as something less than a person to look up to and you all know it. You who are basing her are just looking for something to complain about and it is very obvious. That’s ridiculous.
BTW, she is trying to DO something positive with a positive character to give positive vibes to those who see the movie. But there are those who always want to be negative. I can’t tell you how many “jokes” I get a week from supposedly intelligent people in which particularly Hispanic people are the butt of the joke. Do you know how many artists would KILL for that kind of exposure? Each of these shows is viewed by millions of potential record-buyers every day. Yet Vanessa didn’t even sing. I would think if V was really interested in selling copies, she’d perform on these shows and give people a taste. Jennifer Hudson performed “Spotlight” on Regis and Kelly just the other day and she was fabulous! No lip synching either, it was all her. AND HER album isn’t due out til September.

Millie - Yes those shows were nice, but it was a rush, rush thing where she was there for only a few short days with no time for rehearsals, therefore no singing was done. And if you’re implying she can’t sing, then you’re wrong because she has a great voice. Anyway, Hollywood Records still fell short on promoting before the album was released and even afterwards. Plus, they undershipped the album to stores where some people could not buy it even if they wanted it. Some people overseas still can’t buy it from the stores in their country because it never arrived. I’m leaving now for work.

#75 The TRL and Regies and Kelly appearances were taped the same the same day, July 1st the DAY the CD was released. Plus she flew into New York from Utah the night before because she just wrapped “HSM3″ that day. Which meant no time to rehearse or prepare for a performance. Which I’m sure Jennifer Hudson had a chance to do before performing. I’m sure that’s why she didn’t perform.

#97 Okay I have had enough. Let’s look at how many mainstream Hollywood movies prominently protray Hispanic characters in a postive light. Now I am talking strictly fictionalized protrayals here. I’m not talking about Hispanic actors, musicians, athletes, or writiers. I am talking strictly the usual protrayal of Hispanics in Hollywood.
“High School Musical”
“Ugly Betty”-I have reservations about this but it’s the only major Network show with a Hispanics characters as leads. There was “Caine” on CBS but that’s been canceled.
“American Family”-This was a series that ran on PBS (so not many people are likely to be familiar with it) from 2002 to 2004. It starred Edward James Olmos that was about the trials and tribulations of a Mexican-American family.
That’s three come to mind feel free to add more. But my point is it is the stereotypical protrayal of Hispanics as gang members, drug dealers, etc that is the norm.
So either say how Vanessa saying that Hispanic characters are not played in postive light “very often” is so “ignorant” or shut up.
She’s cute but NOT Zac material. BY no means. He will get over her in time and find out there is WOMEN out there for him.

I love the interview its cute. one thing i do have to commen on is the fact that she said you have to be careful by choosing the charchter you play or it can mess you up mentally by you becoming the charachter or something like that. I myself am an actress and have been in several plays. I do take acting quite seriously and when I am playing a part I get in to that charachters shoes and feel that charachtes feelings and stuff. I am no longer Charlene but the charachter I am playing. However once the show ends I am no longerthe charachter and back to being myself. anybody who honestly thinks they are the charachter must have mental problems tro begin with. I am not saying this is the case with vanessa and i am not bashing her. just givving my two cents on that subject.

A little off the subject here but did anyone catch the end of Extra tonight? They had Ashley and they talked about her having a ring on her left hand and they speculated that it was an engagement ring from Jared. Since so many people complain that Zac and Vanessa are so young young and how they should see other people, what about Ashley and Jared? I know Ashley is 23, Jared is at least a couple years younger than she is, so why aren’t they getting as much hassle as Zac and Vanessa? I say only Ashley, Jared, Vanessa, and Zac can make decisions that effect their happiness and their futures.

Zaccarra, I have wondered that same thing. I’ve seen “greasy” comments, and others I can’t think of at the moment, and felt they were racist as well. I believe those comments come from haters, who think anyone attractive has to be a blond, blue-eyed American. Zac doesn’t seem to be attracted to that stereotype, as he admires women like Tyra Banks, Rosario Dawson, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Yes, the greasy comments have always been racially motivated as in the past on these boards people were always referring to her as a maid, etc. It is easy to say things like that in cyberspace. Many people like Ashley because she is blond and yet I wonder if everyone would love her so much if she would let her hair be it’s natural color. She isn’t a natural blond and she herself has said that.
Also, it is a fact that most haters have no clue as to Vanessa’s true heritage. It doesn’t matter what color or race she is, she is simply beautiful and Zac loves her and doesn’t care about any of those things. But certain comments prove much of the hate against her is racially motivated. Also, I think some wouldn’t hate her so much if she wasn’t with Zac—not because they think they have a chance with Zac but because they don’t think Vanessa has the right “background” for Zac—just another racial thing. It is very sad that people can feel that way today.

I don’t know why people should be so shocked about them moving into gather if they aren’t already living together. We’v all seen the pictures of them together last year in Hawaii–they were on that vacation together and alone. THis year they are whisked off by private jet to a romantic Caribbean island again together, alone. Does anything it seems strange they would go off together to places like Hawaii then Australia, share a trailer on the set of HSM in SLC, go to a Caribbean island, and then come back to LAand go to separate “homes”? It is just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. If they were in college as they would be if they were the normal young people of this age, believe me, the majority of them would be together. And I’m not saying, right, wrong, or in-between, it’s just the way it is and most anyone over 18 knows that is true.

Better late than never, right? Well, another interesting read again. Anyway, to the fans and defenders, a good job and keep the faith.
I’m amazed at what a simple statement can do, insinuate so many things as you the haters are want to do as in prone especially when it comes to Vanessa. Why are we being picky over what ethnic minority Vanessa represents? It just so happens to be a hispanic, she’s portraying. It could have easily been a mexican, greek or some other meditteranean race. She certainly looks Hispanic and because of this it has to be an issue, isn’ it.
Let me say this, an american(forgot her name) played a british character, Bridget Jones. Gwyneth Paltrow played a british character in a shakespearen movie. We have Aussies actors coming in and taking on major roles with american accents. So what’s the big deal here and why does it have to be an issue all of a sudden. It Is because she is Vanessa Hudgens isn’t it?!
I hate to say this but I do find a lot of racial prejudice amongst the hate posters and it is really sad in this day and age. The fact that Vanessa has a filipino mother makes her a low life in your minds. This reminds of the caste system in India, the lowest are known as the pariahs or untouchables, these are the servants,coolies who do the menial work and the highest the brahmins with priestly lineage. The government is now trying to abolish the caste system but some habits die hard. Just imagine if you were an intelligent child with talents but born into the wrong caste system, what kind of a life would you have. Sorry, but I’m rambling here.
As to Vanessa’s records not doing well, all I have to say is that I’ve been pestering the music stores in my part of the world( I live in the capital city) and haven’t seen sight nor sound of her album. Am still waiting oh so patiently. I’m sure there are many others like me.
As to Vanessa and Zac setting up house together, I say good for them and about time too. If this is true, that is. Am in agreement with Karen on this.

Another issue here is “Method Acting” I have read countless accounts of actors having a hard time removing themselves from the characters they played especially if the role is one of abuse and torment or plain dark( as in evil) and the scene is intensely emotional. Jodie foster, when she played a rape victim. Heath ledger is a very good example. Troy, help me here, she played a girl who dressed as a boy and was found out and was raped. she’s also a very good actress and won an emmy. So, I do know what roles Vanessa was referring to. I did read some even went into depression for a while. And these are very good actors, I may add.

I’ve always suspected that the hate against Vanessa is the fact that someone from a mixed background had the audacity to ’steal’ the blue-eyed golden boy from the home-grown American princesses.
To add insult to injury, Vanessa was not even part of Disney pre-HSM and here she is trying to ’steal’ the popularity and limelight that belongs to Ashley, the girl next door.
The sad thing is that a lot (not all) of Ashley’s fanbase is filled with small-minded people like that. Proof: visit her threads, you would expect her threads to run in the 100s filled with great comments appreciating her for who she is independent of any other star but no. If it’s not about putting her in the top celeb box, it’s about her being the best and being better than Vanessa with no explanations as to how (except that she is blond).
A lot of Zac’s fanbase are like that. They do not care about him or Ashley or even Nikki. They just don’t like the idea that someone from a mixed background is dating the teen king. Anybody but Vanessa. Ashley or Nikki are allowed to be confident but not Vanessa as she should be grateful for whatever crumbs come her way. Any show of confidence is labeled arrogance. How dare she! Visit any Zac threads that do not include Vanessa where most of his fans that hate Vanessa visit. The comments are always few and mostly consist of how hot he is and how he deserves better than Vanessa. Nothing constructive about him as a person.
The great thing is that Vanessa’s fanbase is made up of mostly open-minded, exposed and intelligent people of different backgrounds who have risen above race and are able to appreciate her for who she is as a person independent of any other star. Proof: read the comments on her threads. Whether the threads include Zac or not, they run in the 100s, we have plenty to say without bringing in any other star because to us she’s not a stereotype nor a label, she’s a real person and we have real, tangible reasons why we are fans, whatever her background is.
While it is sad that there are small-minded, racist people still at large, it’s good to know that her fanbase cannot consist of such people.
Wherever I go on the internet, I always find that I have more in common or enjoy the personalities of fellow Vanessa fans than others. I also find her fans much more broadminded and inclusive.
I’ve said this before but I’m so glad that those that hate Vanessa do hate her as based on the kind of people they come across as being, I don’t want to have anything in common with them.
I mean, Perez Hilton is an Ashley fan and hates Vanessa. Ryan Seacrest is a big Vanessa fan. It’s a no brainer who is the small minded one with no achievements.
Where fans are concerned, in my humble opinion, Vanessa is the lucky one and should be proud.
Ashley and Zac actually deserve better than some of the fans they have as they are so different from those fans that you just wonder.
1st, I don’t recommand, that Zac and Vanessa move into together until they are married. That’s just me. If you wants to be good role model get married, then move in. I’m not sure if Vanessa will be able to go to the Teen Choice awards or not as she will be just starting her tour. The fact she is nominated for an award does not assure she will be there. Many celebrities who are nominated each year are not there at the show. Zac has confirmed that he will be there but Vanessa hasn’t.

katie, she has done nothing that indicates she is in love with herself but when someone says they want to slap someone that has done nothing but have a picture appear on the cover of a magazine the person who wants to do slapping is usually is just mad becasue they have never and most likely will never get such attention. They feel like it is unfair that someone else—in this case Vanessa—is getting more attention and praise. You resent it—hence the desire to slap her.
rachel, you are finding fault and are actually ridiculing someone who was the victim of that infamous picture. It was a private picture. It was meant for one person to see. Someone thought they would be smart but was actually vile and underhanded and printed this picture on the internet. Vanessa stood up, admitted it was her. took responsibilty for it, never once trying to make people feel sorry for her, and she took numerous hits for it but kept her beautiful head held high. So, why wouldn’t someone want to aspire to be like THAT? I would certainly think her parents would be proud of her.

Hi guys, I’m from the the Philippines. We are called Pilipinos not Filipinos ( that;s our National Language). Those people who say that Pilipinos are trash,( aray nakakasakit kayo ng loob) you better think twice, Pilipinos all over the world are the most intelligent, hardworking, trustworthy and most importantly God fearing. I am very thankful for being a Pilipino and grew up in the Philippines ’cause there is no racistism and prejudicism here. We look at peolpe in the same level ( no black no white)as member of our family. We love people as they are. Even though other people taught our old ones bad and corrupt practices we still understand and love them specially you Americans (It is not us who taught us the trash things but the peoples and countries that invaded us for thousands of years and still trying to infuence us nowadays) We are “Hispanic” in a sence that we have Spanish blood in us. So if you refer to Vanessa’s ancestry she is partly a Pilipino and having Pilipino traits as us. And we are very glad that she’s accepting the fact. We are proud of her because she stood up to some American racists and prejudicism.
