Vanessa Hudgens is the September 2008 cover girl for Teen Vogue. Here are some choice quotes from her interview:
On graduating from the High School Musical franchise: “It’s sad. This is our last time doing a movie together, and we love each other so much. We really grew up together. We can be free when we’re around one another, and the amount of fun we have is ridiculous.”
On her personal love life with Zac Efron: “I keep my relationship quiet. I think that works.”
On her style matching the ease of her California upbringing: “I like putting things together that you would not expect. It’s always me.”
On proceeding with extreme caution in choosing her next project: “I don’t want to do something that messes me up mentally. I think people just don’t realize that sometimes actors can really take it in and become that person.”
On being extremely proud of her HSM character: “I love that Gabriella is Hispanic. It’s nice to be able to stand up for people who don’t have someone to look up to very often.”
The September 2008 issue of Teen Vogue is on sale nationwide Tuesday, August 5.

Yes, the greasy comments have always been racially motivated as in the past on these boards people were always referring to her as a maid, etc. It is easy to say things like that in cyberspace. Many people like Ashley because she is blond and yet I wonder if everyone would love her so much if she would let her hair be it’s natural color. She isn’t a natural blond and she herself has said that.
Also, it is a fact that most haters have no clue as to Vanessa’s true heritage. It doesn’t matter what color or race she is, she is simply beautiful and Zac loves her and doesn’t care about any of those things. But certain comments prove much of the hate against her is racially motivated. Also, I think some wouldn’t hate her so much if she wasn’t with Zac—not because they think they have a chance with Zac but because they don’t think Vanessa has the right “background” for Zac—just another racial thing. It is very sad that people can feel that way today.

It is very sad and kind of ignorant as well. I thought we were getting past this sort of thing but I guress not. But hats off to Zac parents they raised a son who could care less.
It’s very sad to have that kind of mentality still existing in this world.
Hey today on the radio (Y-100 to be exact) they said that there’s a rumor that Zac and Vanessa are moving in together. Supposedly they were spotted looking at a $2.3 million dollar house in the Holywood Hills!! Do you guys think this is true?? I know Vanessa said on the GMA interview recently that she wanted to buy a house but idk if she meant with Zac!

I don’t know why people should be so shocked about them moving into gather if they aren’t already living together. We’v all seen the pictures of them together last year in Hawaii–they were on that vacation together and alone. THis year they are whisked off by private jet to a romantic Caribbean island again together, alone. Does anything it seems strange they would go off together to places like Hawaii then Australia, share a trailer on the set of HSM in SLC, go to a Caribbean island, and then come back to LAand go to separate “homes”? It is just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. If they were in college as they would be if they were the normal young people of this age, believe me, the majority of them would be together. And I’m not saying, right, wrong, or in-between, it’s just the way it is and most anyone over 18 knows that is true.
Well, got to go to bed. My last post had way too many errors in it but I think you can figure it out so I won’t bother trying to correct it.

Better late than never, right? Well, another interesting read again. Anyway, to the fans and defenders, a good job and keep the faith.
I’m amazed at what a simple statement can do, insinuate so many things as you the haters are want to do as in prone especially when it comes to Vanessa. Why are we being picky over what ethnic minority Vanessa represents? It just so happens to be a hispanic, she’s portraying. It could have easily been a mexican, greek or some other meditteranean race. She certainly looks Hispanic and because of this it has to be an issue, isn’ it.
Let me say this, an american(forgot her name) played a british character, Bridget Jones. Gwyneth Paltrow played a british character in a shakespearen movie. We have Aussies actors coming in and taking on major roles with american accents. So what’s the big deal here and why does it have to be an issue all of a sudden. It Is because she is Vanessa Hudgens isn’t it?!
I hate to say this but I do find a lot of racial prejudice amongst the hate posters and it is really sad in this day and age. The fact that Vanessa has a filipino mother makes her a low life in your minds. This reminds of the caste system in India, the lowest are known as the pariahs or untouchables, these are the servants,coolies who do the menial work and the highest the brahmins with priestly lineage. The government is now trying to abolish the caste system but some habits die hard. Just imagine if you were an intelligent child with talents but born into the wrong caste system, what kind of a life would you have. Sorry, but I’m rambling here.
As to Vanessa’s records not doing well, all I have to say is that I’ve been pestering the music stores in my part of the world( I live in the capital city) and haven’t seen sight nor sound of her album. Am still waiting oh so patiently. I’m sure there are many others like me.
As to Vanessa and Zac setting up house together, I say good for them and about time too. If this is true, that is. Am in agreement with Karen on this.
This will only show how serious Zac is about their relationship and should shut the gobs of the haters and give them more alone time together. It is not like they just knew each other for a couple of months anyway.

#143 That American you’re referring to Renee Zellwegger Boji. And you raise a good point a lot of the more venomous and inexplicable hatred for Vanessa does seem to be racially motivated. More then once on another site I have seen her referred to as “Fillipino trash.”
Sadly I’ve some people try to post that garbage here but fortunately thanks to the “Report abuse” function Jared has supplied us with such trash does not remain here for long.

Another issue here is “Method Acting” I have read countless accounts of actors having a hard time removing themselves from the characters they played especially if the role is one of abuse and torment or plain dark( as in evil) and the scene is intensely emotional. Jodie foster, when she played a rape victim. Heath ledger is a very good example. Troy, help me here, she played a girl who dressed as a boy and was found out and was raped. she’s also a very good actress and won an emmy. So, I do know what roles Vanessa was referring to. I did read some even went into depression for a while. And these are very good actors, I may add.

I’ve always suspected that the hate against Vanessa is the fact that someone from a mixed background had the audacity to ’steal’ the blue-eyed golden boy from the home-grown American princesses.
To add insult to injury, Vanessa was not even part of Disney pre-HSM and here she is trying to ’steal’ the popularity and limelight that belongs to Ashley, the girl next door.
The sad thing is that a lot (not all) of Ashley’s fanbase is filled with small-minded people like that. Proof: visit her threads, you would expect her threads to run in the 100s filled with great comments appreciating her for who she is independent of any other star but no. If it’s not about putting her in the top celeb box, it’s about her being the best and being better than Vanessa with no explanations as to how (except that she is blond).
A lot of Zac’s fanbase are like that. They do not care about him or Ashley or even Nikki. They just don’t like the idea that someone from a mixed background is dating the teen king. Anybody but Vanessa. Ashley or Nikki are allowed to be confident but not Vanessa as she should be grateful for whatever crumbs come her way. Any show of confidence is labeled arrogance. How dare she! Visit any Zac threads that do not include Vanessa where most of his fans that hate Vanessa visit. The comments are always few and mostly consist of how hot he is and how he deserves better than Vanessa. Nothing constructive about him as a person.
The great thing is that Vanessa’s fanbase is made up of mostly open-minded, exposed and intelligent people of different backgrounds who have risen above race and are able to appreciate her for who she is as a person independent of any other star. Proof: read the comments on her threads. Whether the threads include Zac or not, they run in the 100s, we have plenty to say without bringing in any other star because to us she’s not a stereotype nor a label, she’s a real person and we have real, tangible reasons why we are fans, whatever her background is.
While it is sad that there are small-minded, racist people still at large, it’s good to know that her fanbase cannot consist of such people.
Wherever I go on the internet, I always find that I have more in common or enjoy the personalities of fellow Vanessa fans than others. I also find her fans much more broadminded and inclusive.
I’ve said this before but I’m so glad that those that hate Vanessa do hate her as based on the kind of people they come across as being, I don’t want to have anything in common with them.
I mean, Perez Hilton is an Ashley fan and hates Vanessa. Ryan Seacrest is a big Vanessa fan. It’s a no brainer who is the small minded one with no achievements.
Where fans are concerned, in my humble opinion, Vanessa is the lucky one and should be proud.
Ashley and Zac actually deserve better than some of the fans they have as they are so different from those fans that you just wonder.
1st, I don’t recommand, that Zac and Vanessa move into together until they are married. That’s just me. If you wants to be good role model get married, then move in. And some people saying that Zac and do a lot better. YEAH RIGHT! Vanessa can do a lot better. No they are not cute together, Vanessa is 1000x better looking then Zac. She will win female hottie because she is the hottest one of them all. 2nd thing. WHY CAN”T WE HAVE OUR OWN OPIONIONS Honestly people. If people like her. (like yours truly) then so what. if people hate her, like some of you so what. Why does evreyone have a problems with everyone’s else opionion just drop it. None of this back talking to one another. let everyone say what they want to say. no calling people stupid for saying that something that you don’t agree with. Until the website has your name on it. then shut up and let people talk. If you are a hater, keep talking it’s okay you have the same right to be here as the like people who like her. and if you like her, then like her, but leave the haters alone. It’s a free public website where anyone can post anything they want.
