Jessica Simpson appears on the cover of the September issue of Elle magazine and opens up about her previous and current relationships.
On the period immediately following her 2005 split from ex-husband Nick Lachey: “I was going through a lot of pain. I didn’t try anything to change my life other than dating different types of guys and conforming to their worlds. I thought I had to be artsier, more intellectual.”
On if she’s been physically abused and recording a song about it: “I don’t want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run… I had to record that. There’s nothing on my album that you’re gonna hear that I don’t relate to or that I haven’t experienced. Because the only way I know how to sing is from life experience.”
On her ex-beau, musician John Mayer: “John believed in the Jessica Simpson that’s within. He cherished our love. He helped make me the woman I am today. John is going to be an amazing man for someone, but I know that I was supposed to be with someone else.”
On her relationship with Tony Romo: “Most of the guys I dated were captivated by my heart, but they had different ways of trying to get to me. Tony understands me. He appreciates my talent. He’s the first person I’ve spiritually connected with. It’s the cutest thing, he’ll say, Jessica, 75% of the comments about your new single are favorable.”
The September 2008 issue of Elle hits newsstands on August 11.

I agree with #3, she is definitely not as slim now than how she appears to be on the cover. Either way, Jessica’s fake to me. She does whatever she can to be the center of publicity. Notice how every guy she was with previously is perfectly happy and in a healthy relationship with another woman currently; i.e. Nick Lachey and John Mayer. Even her younger sister is happily married and pregnant! I just wonder how much longer her fling with Tony will last.

Good grief…she really does like to talk about herself and her ex’es, doesn’t she? No wonder she’s had such lousy luck with men! Jessica seems to be happy with Tony. That is good for her. Tony has been a steady support for her. Jessica has good business sense.
I think she looks great. I think she is a great singer whether she sings country or pop. The problem I am having is that you idiots are saying these negative comments about a star who has no idea that you morons exist.
