Brad & Angelina’s Twins — First Pictures On Sunday!

People mag snags US rights to Jolie-Pitt twin pix

NEW YORK (AP) — People has scored the photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s newborn twins, the second time the celebrity magazine won the North American rights to the couple’s exclusive baby pictures in exchange for a hefty donation to charity.

The magazine will feature Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon in an issue to hit newsstands Monday, People spokeswoman Nancy Valentino said Friday. Valentino said she didn’t know how much was paid for the photos, which were expected to fetch a figure that would dwarf previous baby-pic payouts.

“We’re thrilled to be able to feature these pictures in People,” managing editor Larry Hackett said in a statement.

People plans to unveil the first photo on its Web site on Sunday evening.

Even before the babies were born July 12 in Nice, France, the speculation began over which celeb mag would come out on top of an inevitable bidding war. The couple ultimately chose a familiar route in its joint deal between People and London-based Hello! magazine.

Jolie and Pitt sold the rights to the first shots of their daughter Shiloh, now 2 years old, to Getty Images in exchange for a donation to charity in 2005. People reportedly paid $4 million for the U.S. rights to those photos, and London-based Hello! magazine obtained the British rights.

And last year, the couple sold intimate shots of their son Pax, then 3 years old, to Hello! and People. The two magazines are again sharing the rights to the Jolie-Pitt photographs, with each publication contributing to the final price.

Getty Images was back in the game this time: In a statement, Getty co-founder and CEO Jonathan Klein said his company was “delighted that all proceeds from these stunning images will once again be donated entirely to charity. It is a privilege to use the power of our imagery to make a difference in the lives of so many throughout the world through the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.”

In June 2006, People magazine published six photos of Pitt, Jolie and baby Shiloh, who displayed the Jolie pillow-lipped pout just days after her birth. Media week reported two months later that the issue sold 2.2 million copies, its biggest seller at the time since its 4 million-selling 9/11 special.

Jolie, 33, and Pitt, 44, established their foundation in 2006, often making children the focus of their giving. They donated $1 million in June to The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict to help children affected by the war in Iraq. Last year, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation gave more than $300,000 to support the International Rescue Committee’s relief program for Darfur refugees.

…okay, I’m going to get hold of myself now…

…I’m not quite disgusted, but I realize that I shouldn’t be quite so fervently anticipating seeing and BUYING the magazine…..I justify these feelings by reminding myself of a few things…

- FATE……Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are one of the GREATEST love stories in Hollywood history based on all we know in the information age regarding how they found each other….their AMAZING chemistry on screen……how their past history seemed to bring them so inevetably and PERFECTLY together at just the right time in their lives!

- THIS LOVE STORY IS TOPPED BY NO OTHER……Just as we look back at the time of Marilyn Monroe and Joe Dimagio, Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton….and peoples adoration of them makes sense now, people will also look back on our fascination with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and it will make PERFECT SENSE! …the Jolie-Pott love story is ONE HUNDRED TIMES better than any of those, and its filled with a mixture of humanitarianism, politics, sexyness, adoption, and Kick A*S*S movies!!!!!

- THERE IS ALOT OF GROWTH AND INSPIRATION HERE….Both Brad and Angie have grown as people and as artists. They share similarities in that they are BOTH underestimated because of their looks, and because their celebrity is UNPRESIDENTED….thus the snide, snarky comments in the media, the ridiculous stalking by the paparrazzi, and the jealousy among their peers.

- THAT SPECIAL SOMETHING…..call it looks, call it sex appeal, call it talent, or none of the above…..but Brad and Angie HAVE IT…..whatever ‘IT’ is…..THEY’VE GOT IT IN BUCKET-LOADS….and I’m addicted!

….Bottom line…..theres no need to feel disgusted by our irrational interest in this couple. ENJOY IT. We will all be able to say that we were living in the time of WAR, TERRORISM, GLOBAL WARMING, ….but amid the chaos, we were witness to the MEDIA INSANITY, the ALTRUISM, and the LOVE OF BRAD AND ANGELINA.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEE…..cant wait til Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is very exciting - we’ll finally be able to see the twins and the rest of the Jolie-Pitts… can’t wait.

Also, if I were People mag I would sell the issue wrapped in plastic so that people cannot browse through the issue - we all know that even the people who hate to love them (we all know they park their a$$ on the JP threads b/c they are closeted fans) would buy the issue.
