Gwyneth Paltrow: Vote From Abroad, Vote Obama
In a new two-minute advertisement, Gwyneth Paltrow and several others urge the millions of Democratic voters living outside the country’s borders to vote in the ‘08 election.
The spot, titled “Where In The World Will YOU Vote?”, hopes to grab the attention of the more than 6 million estimated Democrats abroad… and hopefully get them to vote for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
“I heard people say that they didn’t have a right to vote, from abroad,” says the ad that the London-based Gwyneth helps narrate. “A vote is a vote, regardless of where you are. For anyone who says they don’t have a right to vote, you do.”
The spot concludes with: “Vote Democrat. Vote Obama. Vote From Abroad.”

I don’t really care about the privileged Gwyneth and I REALLY don’t care about who she votes for, but I do care about the military overseas.
They have been neglected in regards to voting. If Gwyneth actually cared about everyone voting, not just her candidate, she would try to help the military get a chance to vote.
Read this and decide.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Roy Blunt, the House Republican whip, on July 8 introduced a resolution demanding that the Defense Department better enable U.S. military personnel overseas to vote in the November elections. That act was followed by silence. Democrats normally leap on an opportunity to find fault with the Bush Pentagon. But not a single Democrat joined Blunt as a co-sponsor, and an all-Republican proposal cannot pass in the Democratic-controlled House.
Analysis by the federal Election Assistance Commission, rejecting inflated Defense Department voting claims, estimated overseas and absentee military voting for the 2006 midterm elections at a disgracefully low 5.5 percent. The quality of voting statistics is so poor that there is no way to tell how many of the slightly over 330,000 votes actually were sent in by the absentee military voters and their dependents and how many by civilian Americans living abroad — 6 million all total.
Nobody who has studied the question objectively sees any improvement since 2006, and that is a scandal. Retired U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Charles Henry wrote in the July issue of the U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings: “While virtually everyone involved … seems to agree that military people deserve at least equal opportunity when it comes to having their votes counted, indications are that in November 2008, many thousands of service members who try to vote will do so in vain.”
So Gwyneth you be sure to vote!

If in doubt of how to vote, ignore the famewhore celeb and read up on the actual issues and visit each candidate’s website.

Very nicely put and so true! Everyone should take the time to do their own research and not get caught up in the Hollyweird endorsement train.
typical hollywood elitist liberal propoganda. Why live in another country if you love your own so much??? BTW who needs the europeans and their arrogant opinions…..we dont.
Gwyneth Paltrow and her ilk are the last people in the world who should be telling anyone else who to vote for. Most actors — including Fishsticks, here — have little (if any) higher education, don’t know jack about the issues, and have no clue how 99.9% of the country actually lives (without nannies, personal assistants, stylists, etc.).
Also, in my opinion, the American people deserve better candidates than what we have to choose from. I’m no McCain fan, but I’d rather contract polio than vote for that pretentious, egotistical, lying sack of sh!t Obama.
Those like Gwyneth and her ilk are the last people on earth who should be telling others who to vote for. Most actors — including Gwyneth here — have little or no higher education, know nothing about the issues, and have no idea how 99.9% of the rest of the world lives — without nannies, personal assistants, stylists, chefs, etc. They are overpaid and adulated for their ability to parrot words someone else wrote, and that’s it. It’s disgraceful.
Also, the American people deserve a better choice than the one we have now. I’m no McCain fan, but I’d rather contract polio than vote for that lying, egotistical sack of dung Obama. McCain ‘08, I guess.
Sorry for the double post.
@44
There are many people who fight for the US interests, like Diplomat, or business people, and they can not go home for voting. What shall they do? They live may be the whole years abroad, and the only possibility to vote is by coming to their embassy.
Just because somebody doesn’t live in their country, doesn’t mean that they do not care or love their country. I always think separately between government and my country. Many times, they are simply different entities.
So, Happy Voting Americans!
So you heard people say that they didn’t have the right to vote abroad? All that tells us it that the people you must hand out with abroad are a bunch of freakin idiots. Why are these F%$#S so dang patronizing? And who are they broadcasting this too anyways? Like this spot is going to air in Europe or Asia…? Can you pleeeeease get over yourself? Just because you played a rocket scientist does not you a rocket scientist make. I may vote for McCain now just to contradict these A$$e$.
obama need not your support. stupid fucked *****
bi*ch
My father is a university professor so my family lived abroad twice while he taught on sabbatical while I was growing up. My parents, my sister and I are American citizens who have the right to vote where ever we find ourselves in the world come election time.
As for those saying you have to live in the US all the time to have the right to vote, no. We believe in freedom in this country, including freedom of movement, and as long as you qualify as an American citizen you have the right, you have the responsibility, to vote.
Gwyneth Paltrow splits her time between London and New York. Half the year her family lives stateside, half the time they reside in England. Given that her husband is English this arrangement seems both appropriate and fair to me. If I were her, I’d make certain to have dual citizenship so as to vote in both countries.
Gwyneth is a loser just like Obama. The best thing she ever had going for her was Brad pitt and she screwed that up. Obama is a Muslim with no leadership qualities. I would never vote for this anti-american scam artist. So shut the hell up hollywood!
Obama Sucks! God help us all if he is elected. Gwyneth is a snotty spoiled idiot
