From what I’ve seen, I think all the photos of the children were very very beautiful. But I can give you ONE good reason why Shiloh’s photo was special:

It was a photo of a little girl caught in a moment in time, with her expressive eyes showing a combination of amazement, wonder and delight at having a living, breathing, warm, sleeping dolly on her lap (and not these other dollies she had been given that don’t do nothing). This was the amazement and delight that I saw in her face which makes it so special.

Yes, I saw the love, I saw the happiness on Z’s face and smile, and I saw the tenderness in the photos of Maddox and Pax. But to me, they were older kids and they knew the twins were NOT living dolls. Somehow, it seemed to me that Shiloh thinks at that moment, that her little sis/bro was a living dolls and she was amazed and delighted to be handed a living doll. So perhaps it was this moment of amazement and delight showing so clearly on Shiloh’s face, which moved the People editors to put this photo of Shiloh on the corner.

I will say this as someone who has experienced discrimination - as a woman and as a chinese for a better part of my life:

Do not assume the worse intention of others because the only person it harms is yourself. And if you teach your own children to make these sorts of assumptions, you also harm them.

What do I mean by this? I mean:

YOU cannot know why People selected that photo of Shiloh. And I’ve given you one reason why People may have selected Shiloh’s photo which has nothing to do with her being white or biological.

YOU can choose to ascribe the negative reasons you mentioned - that someone is playing favourites, being racist or whatever negative connotations you want.

But I suggest that you don’t till you know. Until then, the photo of Shiloh has as much right as Maddox, Pax and Z to appear in that corner. Otherwise, YOU are politicising this photoshoot, way beyond what it should be. And you are inviting negativity into your own life.

Lylian, you are the best! I wish I had continued reading because I wouldn’t have written my last post. Everything I wanted to say, some i couldn’t quite put into words, you have done…excellently well for me. I especially love the part in bold because this is EXACTLY what i thought was the reason for Shi being on the cover.

As a child who grew up carrying dolls until I was 11 (went to boarding school and the house mistress told me NO DOLLS…after laughing at me for 10 minutes straight when I asked her which part of my tiny corner I could set my little Annie) moving on, as I someone who carried dolls, I was so happy the the day my mom came home with my younger brother, another doll I thought and this one even cried I moved. According to my older siblings, I kept poking him just so he would cry and when he did, I would love in delight…Okay, is it me or does that sound like a crazy, sick thing to do? Yikes! I wonder why they didn’t send me to a shrink. They must really love me…right?

In the Today’s show segment discussing People Mag cover, that idiot Meredith Vierra pretended that she doesnt know Shiloh’s name. I mean she is a host of a morning variety entertainment show and she doesnt know Brad and Angelina’s Shiloh?? Does she think its too low for her to know Shiloh’s name? She was also the one who called Angie starlet in the Today show. I know she is not a fan of Angelina and I think she was always defending Aniston in the View before.

I’ll spare you clicking on the US link - they said MF’s attorny announced that he and his wife have basically been separated since Dec 2007 and are currently divorcing. They were married for 24 years. And yet we don’t see the soon-to-be-ex Mrs. Freeman throwing any ity parties. Just an observation…

I must say, I was not here in the last 24 hours, at least I think, I am not sure because I am little bit confused because of this time difference! But I see that in this 24 hour Aniston was getting married in OK magazine and NOT getting married in US magazine. Well I don’t read those magazine, they are not in my country published and also they are just tabloids, but I don’t understand, again, her fans - if she is really getting married, than why are the still here and on previous thread spreading evil thougts, I don’t understand, they should be happy for her and not saying evil things here about Maddox! I still haven’t found a Peeps anywhere in town, but I noticed the family sleep theme right away. Other people hear have mentioned the suckers that Z & Shiloh have, but I don’t remember anyone mentioning Pax’s.

Also, a couple of other things I noticed from reading the scanned articles in Peeps & Hello -

1. No mention of James still being there to help out, so I guess he’s back in the States.

2. Remember how the tabs kept writing those stories of the $140,000 nursery? We knew it was bogus, but the Hello mag blew the story out of the water because they said Brad & Angie have the twins’ cribs IN THEIR BEDROOM.

Passing Through, you might want to go check for People again. I just got mine from the supermarket. I was there on Monday and they did not have any. Beautiful is not even enough to describe the family. God has blessed them.

Last night on the Paramount lot was the first test screening of David Fincher’s THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON! God, why do I live in New Jersey when such cool **** happens in Los Angeles… Luckily a JoBlo.com operative we’ll nickname Lt. Mike Harrigan was in the audience and has reported back with the very first review of BENJAMIN BUTTON. So what’d he think? His highly positive and mostly spoiler-free review follows:

Yesterday I got word they were screening an “Untitled” film on the Paramount lot. Thought maybe it was “Star Trek” or “Eagle Eye” and I was excited to see either of those movies so I headed over to check it out. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be something I hadn’t even expected: “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

There was the usual rap about the film not being finished but the FX looked pretty much done to me, though there was one scene where the rain needed to be added. I’ll get back to the FX and CGI later though.

The film starts off around the 1920s as Pitt/Button is born as an old-looking baby. From there we progress through history as he ages backwards. While he’s in his 20s (they don’t say exactly how old he is), he’s assigned to a tug boat in WWII and there’s a war scene (glimpsed in the trailer) that’s probably my favorite in the entire film. I won’t bother getting into too much of the plot because it’s pretty self-explanatory. What I can say though is that while on the surface it’s about Benjamin Button aging backwards and Daisy (Cate Blanchett) aging normally, it mainly deals with how to pick yourself up and find new meaning in life no matter where you are at in life. Pitt is the catalyst for people to do this throughout the story.

Though the bulk of the story takes place when he and Blanchett are middle-agish, the aging effect is pretty flawless on Pitt. Enhancements aside, the acting was superb all around. It was the most subdued I think I have ever seen Pitt in a movie. Blanchett was excellent and will probably get an Oscar nod along with Pitt.

It really didn’t feel like a Fincher flick. If I had to compare it to something else I’d say it’s FORREST GUMP meets BIG FISH meets THE NOTEBOOK. The story is simple but doesn’t feel too simple. Guy goes from older to younger. It just tells his tale. It’s absolutely one not to miss later this year.

After reading this guy’s thoughts, I rewatched the trailer and I’m even more excited to see the movie than I was before. I mean those effects look pretty amazing and that’s just the trailer. If anyone else out there was lucky enough to check it out last night, do us all a favor and let us know your thoughts as well! BENJAMIN BUTTON opens in theaters this Christmas.

The Jolie-Pitts are such a lovely family.

The New Idea says so, and like thousands of others, I rushed out and bought a copy and lapped up every word and every glossy page. Angelina in a boring mummy nightie, Brad in an I’ve-just-mowed-the-lawn singlet, the biological babies proving that Jolie’s large lips have not been tampered with, and the photogenic older children adding colour contrast.

I loved the talk of cup cakes and Dora the Explorer and of Jolie’s mum who loved being a mum and made each of her kids feel special.

The magazine with its exclusive pictures will be kept in a drawer with camphor balls and each year I will add to it. It is the start of the Jolie-Pitt file - a sort of sociological study. This is serious.

Because of who they are, they owe us regular updates of how things are going. We want to watch the kids grow up - the twins at one, Shiloh starting kindie, Pax and Maddox dealing with puberty and Zhara’s first boyfriend. Raising kids is a serious business at any time but raising a gaggle of multicultural kids in the public eye looks like an experiment that needs to be watched.

Unlike some, I don’t doubt the couple’s intentions. You would have to be somewhat retarded to saddle yourself with a disparate bunch of kids for the publicity, especially at a time when just about everyone is doing their utmost to keep their lives free of such expensive and time-consuming commodities. I reckon you have to be a little special to want to raise a houseful of orphans.

I know an infertile couple where the man has convinced his keen-to-adopt partner that taking kids out of their culture is wrong. He can’t see that a child might prefer a globe-trotting life with the Jolie-Pitts to an under-funded orphanage in the third world. This man’s argument, I suspect, is based on his unwillingness to be a parent to someone not carrying his DNA.

Therein lies a problem. My genetic material is special and that of others is not. Even the best-intentioned people sometimes can’t help feeling possessive about the family traits they have passed on.This could translate into an exclusion of others.

Even in ordinary families, rivalries and insecurities arise - “mum loves you more than me” etc.. - so one could assume that in cross-cultural families such as the Jolie-Pitts, problems would be magnified.

How will the brown children and the pink children get on in the long run; the adopted and the biological; the ones who look like mum and dad and the ones who don’t?

Jolie has said “each of our kids is unique and special to us - it makes no difference if they are biological or adopted”, so hopefully the couple can find the wisdom that will keep each individual a happy and secure part of the whole - and defy Hollywood trends and stay together.

Or will there be a series of “Mommie Dearest” exposes about rivalry, alienation and rejection.

For the Jolie-Pitts life with the children is undoubtedly one day at a time. For us, the next magazine article will tell us more. We need to know how those children of the world are faring.

The grocery store closest to my house always has the weekly tabs on Thursday night, so I’m hoping they have it when I get off tonight. I think the problem is that the magazine distributors who re-stock the shelves have set days they re-stock and and didn’t make a special trip to put out the new People. I’ll know in a few hours, though, if my theory is right.
