Katie Holmes: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Katie Holmes takes her daughter Suri Cruise to see the Broadway show Mary Poppins in New York City on Saturday.

Suri
, 2, has been making the Broadway rounds, seeing The Little Mermaid last week!

With little Suri over 2 now, a lot of attention has been given to her constant use of her bottle. Extended bottle-feeding may lead to speech and dental problems according to pediatricians.

WHAT DO YOU THINK about Suri’s bottle’s business — still a baby or time to grow up?

As a dentist, I can tell you that sucking on a bottle at this age can and often times DOES, damage the front teeth (bowing) and flatten the top palate which can cause a slurring speed impediment. The type of bottle that this child has is also specifically designed for infants. The nipple structure is a little longer so that infants can latch on easily and the fluid rushes straight to their throats so they don’t spit it out.

I advise all of my patients to have their children off the bottle and onto a sippy cup at 18 months to avoid dental damage.

god see this is why kids in hollywood go crazy because they’re always told their getting to old for something
I drank out of a bottle till i was almost 5 not all day but when i would go to bed cause it was comforting ”

That actually can be quite bad for a child’s teeth. Just because you did it, doesn’t mean it’s a good decision for parents.

GOD SHE ONLY JUST TURNED 2!

Which is why she shouldn’t be out at an 8pm show that ends at almost 11.

Leave them alone. My daughter is a night owl and doesn’t have to get up early because we are home with her. We have great adventrues with her that all you people miss by putting your kids to bed before the sun even goes down. At least this family does things together. Other families go out and leave their kids to babysitters all the time. And about the bottle - all three of my kids had bottles well past what uptight mommies and so called experts approve. They still are cavitiy free at 22, 20 and 6!!!! And, all have straight teeth without having had braces. Do what you want with your family and let them do as they wish with theirs.

the mary poppins website says the show is recommended for ages
6 AND UP! the show started at 8PM and let out at 11:30PM!!!

You left out the most important thing: some children her own age to play with.

Some of the comments are very mean. She is a little girl !!! If you can’t say something nice–don’t say anything.

As much as I hate to admit it, I took a bottle to bed every night until I was 7!! Yikes. I hate to think about it :)

But anyway, no speech problems and I’ve always had flawless teeth with no cavities. (I’m 24 now.)

leave them alone..stop all this photogs madness. Both are adorable..

classy all out

Interesting, everytime I buy a ticket to a broadway show it is clearly stated that NO children under the age of 4 will be admitted whether they have a ticket or not.

I wanted to take my 3 year old niece to see The little Mermaid but was told she had to be 4, no exceptions.

So, regardless of the recommended age for a Disney’ show, the decisions of her parents, or how much attention she paid, Suri SHOULD NOT have been there as outlined in Broadways own rules.

That’s great for you, but it’s still not a good decision in general according to national associations of dentists and pediatricians.

what 2 year old can sit through a broadway show?

Suri is obviously terribly bothered by the loud noises and flashes of the papz and crowds, so why does Katie repeatedly subject her to the discomfort? Could it be… she’s a publicity hound and not at all above using her sensitive bottle sucking, diaper wearing child to get it?

The words that come to mind are… “child abuse’.

Makes ya wonder. She’s not even subtle about it. She has security with her but is repeatedly seen going through a throng of paparazzi rather than slipping out a side or back door, which trust me, she could do.

And before anyone trots out the “Oh, yeah, so-and-so calls the paparazzi!” bit. According to rumors, tons of celebs do. So that doesn’t really wash. The Cruises have a history of being particularly not-so-subtle with the photo ops though.

Its sad that people think they can have a say in a celebrity’s life, like their parenting skills, because they’re famous and get a look in their private lives.

Stop telling people how to raise their kids and shut up about that bottle.

tif, you’re right…it’s a battle for me to have my toddler to sit through a meal in restaurants and u really have to do a lot of entertaining to keep them from going wild…cant’ imagine a child sitting through a 2 1/2 hour production…just madness i tell yah

Oh, yes, because we all believe that these comments go directly to the Cruises. Get over it. It’s an internet gossip site. People make comments. Shocking, I know.

1.) Why on earth is Suri out so late? Look at her. She’s so tired. Oh—that’s right. Katie said on Letterman that Suri goes to sleep at 11pm. What is she thinking???

2.) A 2 yr old has a 15-20 min attention span for videos, shows, etc. After that, it’s a matter of just trying to keep them quiet for the rest of the audience.

3.) Give her a sippy cup for crying out loud. Let her grow up normal !!

Where are pictures of them “singing”?

If you take a look at pictures of Suri taken a year ago, she does not have her bottle as frequently as she does now. Also, she is not afraid of the people and cameras surrounding her.

Another lame attempt to call the family crazy by idiots like, #5. People show toddlers movies all the time and they don’t understand it. Why don’t you harass them?

Probably busy rehearsing in the afternoon, #8. It’s silly to compare parents. Just don’t bother. You’re no one to say that they’re not doing right by their child.

Can you even prove they use their child for publicity, #14? It doesn’t look like it. You just say she’s taking her out for PR…for no real reason at all.

You trust total strangers on the internet all the time or just the TomKat bashers?

She was very happy in those park pics awhile back. She just doesn’t like the paparazzi. Maybe there are fire safety issues or parking inabilities or something which explains the lack of side entrance.

Holmes is very protective of her daughter which is why she has many bodyguards already that are obviously doing their job because she’s not crowded by anyone, #34. If Holmes stuck her inside, you’d just say Holmes is still nuts for not giving her child fresh air and exercise.

Dead on, #45. These critics need to get lives.

They said RECOMMENDED, #46. Not REQUIRED. There’s a difference. TV is different from live theatre but I really don’t get why Suri Cruise can’t enjoy both mediums.

It has nothing to do with their religion, #67. It has to do with them doing whatever they feel like doing in terms of their parenting. I’m betting many parents are no different but we don’t hold them under microscope judging them so much.

No. They’re just being judgmental and ignorant, #71.

I think I’ll let the PARENTS decide what she ‘needs,’ #82. And she does have kids her own age to play with, #83. Like the Henchy kids and the Beckham kids.

The only alternative is locking her up inside, #91. Holmes is famous and will get chased by the paparazzi but she also needs to take her kid out once in a while. Maybe famous people shouldn’t be having kids at all?

All kids are different and people of any age can be unruly, #94.

Well, #96…

1) She’s thinking that as her parent she can give her whatever bedtime she has. (You’re acting like she gets less sleep than an average baby despite the 24 whole hours to spare)
2) Quit comparing kids. And we didn’t hear anything about an unruly Suri Cruise. And why bother reading babies stories or signing lullabys or showing them TV at all if that’s the case?
3) Shut up with that!

Actually, I’m starting to think people should lay off the bottle stuff. Suri has very few other sources of comfort.

And McLovin, you can yell and and scream at people to “shut up”, but you can’t stop them, so just give it up. It’s called “freedom of speech”, honey. People will continue criticize the way they raise their child so long as *they* continue to *choose* to be in the public eye. Suri is the *only one* who didn’t make that choice, therefore, people who care will continue to speak out on her behalf. IF you don’t like it, that’s your business, but your lame excuses for them get more desperate by the day.

If they wanted to keep her away from the paparazzi, they could do it, easily. Many huge celebrities move to places like Connecticut, upstate NY and Northern California and somehow manage to keep their children out of the limelight. Do you see Jerry Seinfeld’s three children being paraded around? Kelly Ripa’s? Jon Bon Jovi’s? And just to prove this isn’t about Scientology, how often do you see even see Ella Bleu Travolta? They’ve managed to hide Jett pretty well over the years, but I won’t even go there.
