Angelina Jolie’s Presidential Pick is Undecided
United Nations goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie hasn’t decided who she’s voting for between Presidential hopefuls John McCain and Barack Obama.
The 33-year-old new mom said in a statement to Variety managing editor Ted Johnson via political adviser Trevor Neilson: “I have not decided on a candidate. I am waiting to see the commitments they will make on issues like international justice, refugees and how to address the needs of children in crisis around the world.”
Back in February, Angie wrote an op-ed piece for the Washington Post, “[calling] on each of the presidential candidates and congressional leaders to announce a comprehensive refugee plan with a specific timeline and budget as part of their Iraq strategy.”

… as soon as jolie say’s “obama”… hundreds of loons will run and vote for him. lmbaoo
God forbid AJ has a diplomatic answer when ask a question. Too funny, yet sad.
in this case, she should vote for mccain cause his foreign policy is better than obama’s.

As an Ambassador Angie can hardly keep stirring up the pot. Ambassadors are suppose to facilitate change in a gentle, non-violent way–harmony etc.
She can hardly run around calling the government awful, talk openly about politics etc., without offending people world-wide that are in a position to help aid the refugees.
Her job is to negotiate, to create a harmony for discussion. Not rile the world’s leaders up.
i feel sorry for “you”
i am not even metioning your name. You have no life.
checking on the site 24/7 thinking people really care what you have to say. I hope that you are just a teenager…..otherwise you need to kill yourself.

I am sure she would not have issued any statement, had people on both sides not claimed she is supporting them. Wasn’t there an article just 2 days ago claiming she and Brad were going to attend a fun raising event for the Democrats, and wasn’t jon Voight on Fox last week saying that she favors McCain? I don’t blame her one bit for setting the records straight. She has said before on Larry King, when asked, that she doesn’t endorse any candidate publically. If I remember correctly, aren’t you jenhens the ones always claiming celebrities should not be public about their political endorsements?

She is actually a registered independent and her views are the same as McCains concerning the middle east.
I don’t know about JMcCain, but AJ would prefer the troops to stay to help the roughly four million refugees come back and resettle in their home country. That would win a lot of hearts.
I think they should stay to build what they have destroyed, not to fight.
It wouldn’t surprise me if she votes for McCain. I also think Obama’s “plan” and views are a bit distorted and uninformed.
Since Hillary lost, I’ve stopped following the campaign and only
pick up bits from the main news, and I hear that Obama has been flip-flopping. I guess he needs to move to the middle from the extreme left to win more votes.
Who cares what her and the rest of hollyweird thinks on the politcal front. I am so tired of her, brad, jenn, paris, and the rest of the wackjobs that some call hollywood stars voiceing thier opinions. Especially with the way they live.
See, this is what I hate about bloggers and the media… In the original story posted yesterday it stated that both Obama and McCain were trying to court her so that she would endorse them. Thus she released the statement printed above… Its not like out of she blue she asked Trevor to release a statement to let the world know her indidcision about the candidates. So all the idiots stating who care, well Obama and McCain does..
oh would you idiots shut up whining, angie said she was a registered independent for a reason. Plus, this whole blurb, which of course Jared is obediently regurgitating from Us rag is old as hell. For all we know AJ has long since decided. AJ is pretty f*cking smart, you see what good Brad, Affleck, Damon and assorted other celebs did John Kerry and Al Gore…Angelina knows EXACTLY the incendiary reaction she causes and how she’s perceived by some (especially the mini vans) and she also knows a person in her position (i.e. the most famous woman in the world) would be an idiot to come out and endorse anyone. Many of AJ’s hardcore fans are already voting for Obama, not because of AJ but because of WHO they are. So she’d be selfishly preaching to the choir coming out and egotistically making some announcement…aj doesn’t think her vote is better than anyone elses but she sure as hell knows her vote will cause a sh*t storm. I mean, the woman comes out and gives you no clues as to who she’s voting for, and she says she’s a registered independent waiting to see how they will act on issues important to HER (by the way, the country would be a LOT better off if we all gave a big F.U. to the two party system) and look at the waves that non statement is causing. It’s crazy. LOL The repubs are chomping at the bit for her to choose them while the dems are praying she goes with them…the only reason why it’s even being discussed is because people do know she’s an intelligent serious stateswoman who makes sense and saves lives and gets sh*t done. She’s not Madonna Wildenstein, who announces her endorsement of whodaf*ckever and then we all watch said candidate lose in a landslide. There have been so many times I’ve wanted to gag that b*tch and scream STFU Madonna, do you actually think you’re HELPING !ohn Kerry, or Al Gore, or whatever dem comes up short. Why do you think we haven’t heard hide nor hair from Babs Streisand?? Because she finally GETS that sh*t.raise money, call up a candidates personal cell, then shutit
84 question @ 08/11/2008 at 5:29 pm I am disappointed at the Angie’s fans who do not understand what she’s saying. First, she was asked a question about who she’s supporting and like a true ambassador she has registered as an “independent”, the true meaning of which she’s not on any side. It makes her work well with whomever is in power. I don’t think she will publicize her preference, she will just consider someone who favors refugee programs and the things that interest her. She does not support war, she supports taking care of the refugees.
——-
That is it!
Now the war over South Ossetia has made more refugees! Thousands have fled. I’ve been following that. Russia will probably occupy South Ossetia. I’m so glad Georgia isn’t a member of NATO!!!

Angelina said COMMITMENTS not positions.
Angelina has dealt with with Republicans and Democrats. Hillary Clinton to Codi Rice. She does not need your advice on how to be diplomatic. Angelina questioned Pres Bush slow reaction in NO. But that did not stop Pres Bush from allowing his close advisers to speak to Angelina nor did it stop him from increasing the money for refugees.
Which is something Angelina was highly involved in.

#60 lila HUH! What you said ..Canada loves Obama???
Speak for yourself madear. That is a very broad statement. Do not paint a whole nation with the same brush.
Not that it matters b/c as everyone knows we cant vote but if we could we would not get one province to vote on your comment alone. Let alone all of Canada. Geesh!
——-
 I always say that! It’s surprising how many people like to speak for others.
Orchid,
Hi…if you aren’t following the race since Hillary left, I believe it’s uninformed and irresponsible to pay attention to hearsay about Obama…the phrase “sore loser” comes to mind for those Hillary people not getting over or are intending to punish for Obama’s being selected by the Democrats…

even though i love her—im not really interested in her politcal allegience. the media is ridiculous—leave her alone and let her have her family time in peace.

I could not agree with you more. I like her and admire her — but she will not influence my vote, nor will anyone else.

An oldie,
Re: #55 cook
Not that cook needs defending but more like deciphering then transcribing his posts since he writes in “cook dialect” only known to him and a few followers LOL…no offense big fella.
I think what cook is trying to state is that AJ as an international representative of the UNHCR, which in theory has an “apolitical” agenda, should be apolitical in her public persona because it would be inappropriate and a misuse of her position with the UNHCR. She technically is not their political spokesperson but a “messenger of awareness.” By clearly having stated her concern is for refugees…at this point it is not clear what Obama or McCain’s position is regarding refugees, therefore AJ cannot really support one or the other unless and until one or both of them focuses and details specifically on the refugee issue as a separate entity from the many other complex issues that entrench any country engaged in conflict.
Lyn @ 08/11/2008 at 4:56 pm
Jennifer Aniston is a Barack Obama supporter. I wonder if Angelina knows that?
**************************************************************
Oh for Christ’s sake, grow up. She almost certainly doesn’t know it, and if she did, why would she care?
YOO-HOO EVERYBODY…
There is no such thing as a “registered Independent”. An independent voter is someone who votes for a candidate without regard to party lines. Most independents are not registered in any political party, which means they cannot vote in that party’s primaries, but they can vote in the general election. I’m an independent and usually vote for democratic candidates but I have voted for republicans on rare occasions when I felt they were the better candidate. That said, there is no way north of hell I will vote for McCain.

You/Me #12 people weren’t trashing Voight for supporting McCain, but for the idiotic comments he was making and the ranting, rambling dopey fashion they were made!
The man is a lunatic and proved it with his weird comments. If anything, he did McCain a lot of harm, which is why no one in McCain’s camp jumped forward to capitalize on them. They were happier when Lauren Bimbo Conrad endorsed McCain than nutjob Voight!
Dosn’t matter whom she votes for. I still love her.
Jane #36 you apparently didn’t read what Angie said.
She has specific issues she’s looking at, which neither candidate has elaborated upon. They both make speeches which hit emotional buttons, and offer quotable soundbites, but neither has made their actual views on the specific areas she talks about known.
Personally, I think she is trying to keep her vote to herself, and is using the fact that everyone wants to know how she will vote to force the issues she’s concerned with to the forefront and force the candidates to address them.
Keep in mind that there are quite a few United Nations Goodwill Ambassadors who are celebrities, but only Angelina Jolie has made it a priority in her life and studied to the point where her testimony is sought after by world leaders. She was voted to join the Council on Foreign Relations. This is not for pretty faces who occasionally go on photo ops to foreign countries, but for serious individuals who know the facts and the issues.
Why do people keep supporting this idiotic woman? She has never done a single nice thing for anyone without immediately issuing a press release, giving a press conference, staging a photo-op or sitting down with CNN to let EVERYONE know how she just did something nice for someone. When that’s not enough she releases her tax returns which doesn’t feed or shelter anyone. It just puts a dollar amount on her ‘generosity’. We hardly ever get any follow up on her ten million causes. What happened to the orphans in Cambodia, or the people of Namibia, or the refugees in Iraq? I bet they are still orphans, still refugees. We hardly ever get a phone number or a website address so we can help her help these people w. There are many ways to help people without keeping the attention on focused on herself. But for Angelina, what would be the point of that if you’re a shameless self-promoter?
Jennifer was told by Oprah to support Obama
WHO CARES! I’m undecided. I guess I’ll send out a press release.
