OlderAngelina Jolie Replaces Tom Cruise in “Edwin A. Salt”
Angelina Jolie will be replacing Tom Cruise in the Columbia Pictures espionage thriller Edwin A. Salt.
Variety says Angie is “the rare female who is viable in an action genre that has been almost the exclusive domain of men.” No doubt!!!
Jolie would play the title character, a CIA officer who’s accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy and must elude capture long enough to establish her innocence. Edwin A. Salt will be rewritten by the movie studios and will undergo a title change, obviously.
Tom had long been rumored to take the project but eventually bowed out because (reportedly) a $20 million salary wasn’t possible. The film will reunite Angie will her Bone Collector director, Philip Noyce.
Wow, who saw this one coming!? More spy chick Angie! Woo!!!!!

The Eckhart guy is out because that movie may be dumped. Owen will most likely be the fall guy for their next big p.r. event. It is very sad to actually watch a celeb star fade into the atmosphere of celebrity past.

Loved the book Marley and Me but not sure how it will translate to film. Wasn’t it filmed during the writers strike? Can’t wait to see how the test screenings will go on this one.
But, never underestimate Huvane and Aniston. Maybe they already got the Man signed on to new projects that’s why Gayer’s contact ended. Don’t recall the timeline but didn’t the Paul S showmance end right before filming of HJNIY?
Her showmances were just to show Hollywood execs that she is still relevant. But I wonder how effective the Gayer ploy will be since it seems most of her films that are already in the can seem to have difficulty getting into theaters?

Tom Cruise is on the verge of getting fired yet again as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer CEO Harry Sloan looks to bring Cruise’s United Artists studio under the control of MGM production chief Mary Parent, sources told The Post.
The move comes as Sloan reaches the conclusion that Cruise and business partner Paula Wagner, who own 30 percent of UA, “don’t know what they are doing,” several sources close to MGM or inside its investor group said.
“Harry made a mistake in backing those two, and now he’s trying to figure out how to rectify it,” one source said.

This is kind of interesting because Nikki Finke over at Deadlinehollywood.com was saying that her sources told her the problem was Paula Wagner’s inablity to make decisions, not Tiny Tom. And of course yesterday it was announced that Wagner and TC are now on the outs and she’s left the company. So maybe that was part of what happened - MGM wanted her out.
Oh well…I’m not going to waste too much time speculating about this because ultimately…it’s hilarious to see Tiny Tom floundering like a fish out of water.

The ‘We were on a break!!’ storyline was the main reason why my opinion of the show changed. Rachel suggested that she and Ross take a break; Ross interpreted it as a breakup and hooked up with someone else. Rachel painted herself as a victim in that scenerio too, nevermind that the b*tch didn’t take Ross’ relationship with Carol into consideration. Carol probably used the break suggestion just to ease Ross into accepting that she was a lesbian and that their marriage was over.
I hate that Friends still exist in my mind.

The movie that wrapped last fall was “He’s Just Not That Into You”…which has now been appropriately titled thrice over for X since she made it. The movie was lated to go head-to-head with Angie’s limited-engagement “Changeling” release, but got pushed back to Feb 2009…er…just like Valkyrie. Supposedly the reason is total suckage. But you probably knew that based on X being in it. Don’t know WTF Jennifer Connelly was thinking signing up for that crap…
The movie with Aaron Eckhart filmed in Jan/Feb of this year. Not that the IMDB is exactly accurate, but they have no release date for it.
As for PMBP? No, she trotted him out last summer when Angie and Brad were promoting AMH and O13. They were “breaking up” about the time she started filming HJNTIY. I remember cause…well…the jokes wrote themselves…
