OlderAngelina Jolie Replaces Tom Cruise in “Edwin A. Salt”
Angelina Jolie will be replacing Tom Cruise in the Columbia Pictures espionage thriller Edwin A. Salt.
Variety says Angie is “the rare female who is viable in an action genre that has been almost the exclusive domain of men.” No doubt!!!
Jolie would play the title character, a CIA officer who’s accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy and must elude capture long enough to establish her innocence. Edwin A. Salt will be rewritten by the movie studios and will undergo a title change, obviously.
Tom had long been rumored to take the project but eventually bowed out because (reportedly) a $20 million salary wasn’t possible. The film will reunite Angie will her Bone Collector director, Philip Noyce.
Wow, who saw this one coming!? More spy chick Angie! Woo!!!!!

Film is scheduled to begin filming Feb or March 2009 in NYC, that is subject to change of course with Angie’s casting according to one website. I imagine Brad will be more than happy to take care of his six kids while Angie is working.
Angie began work on AMH in September/October 2006 when Shiloh was 4-5 months old I believe. Brad took great care of the kids, made commercials, produced AMH. This is a couple that knows how to take care of business.

Did you watch crouching tiger hidden dragon? If you did, do you remember the older woman (not michelle yeoh but the 50 something year old woman who played Zi Yi’s coach). Well, in her hey day, she was one of the top women kung fu movie stars in Hong Kong.

That was Cheng Pei-Pei. She was great. I saw her on cable TV when they had a special on Hong Kong cinema. I think she lives in Canada now but I’m not certain. She was born in 1946 so she was in her late 50s when she made CTHD.
wow, a female star to replace a male star. It never happened before in HW history. Both Brad and Angie are in high demand. Everything is so good in Jolie-Pitt household.

Also, Noyce also left the project. He’s working on a remake of some pirate movie.
It sounds like Cruise left on his own accord. Either because Noyce left or the project was taking so long.

IF this is true, I will have so many things to look forward to in my life. She is a versatile actress and she can do the role perfectly. Brad would be finished with ******* by then and it’s her turn to work as they take turns in taking care of their kids.
After doing this movie will Atlas Shrugged be her next project? She said that this is the movie she wanted to do in her lifetime. Hopefully, this would materialised.
She’s #10 as the highest paid actress for 2007 but I’m sure that she will do better in 2008 as she did more movies and all are blockbusters.

She had the second LOWEST selling numbers of this year too? Then they put her on September Vogue? It’s as bad as when Paris Vogue put Paris on their cover.
I can’t even tell what she’s wearing on that cover. It looks like they cut up some curtains and just draped them around her. And it looks like someone took a machete to her head. They should fire Wintour behind this.
