OlderOrlando Bloom Hits Sarajevo Film Festival
Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom announces his stepping aside from big movie productions to work in a film about life in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo during the 1992-95 siege at a meeting on Tuesday in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The film is based on the book Fools Rush In by American writer and filmmaker Bill Carter who lived in Sarajevo at the height of the siege. It will be directed by Brazilian director Andrucha Waddington.
“A film is a very specific and personal account of Bill Carter’s experience in Sarajevo during the war and we would very much like to make the film here,” the 31-year-old actor said. “This is a departure from the very big Hollywood productions. I’m not in fact playing Bill in this movie but I read the script and the very human story at the very core of this film spoke to me very clearly.”

It sounds like a wonderful, meaningful project. I’m so excited he is doing this. It is good to see him working again especially in a film of this nature. Love him.

I live in Sarajevo and I’m really hoping that I’ll see him on SFF :) , although it’s amazing that a big hollywood star is interested in making film about war in Bosnia what annoys me that every ******’ movie that is about B a H is about war…

Mika-good point. We have better actors that are more fit for this type of movie. Western actors cannot do the justice in such movies. It’s much easier to make an act realistic if you have lived in that part of the world and got first hand experience, it’s like getting hypnotised and reliving your past.
i am bosnian but currently live in australia and visit bosnia every 6 months and am acutally suprised that an internationally recognised actor who is used to big budget films is interested in this sort of project. maybe it will give him even more recognition and publicity? who knows but i am pretty excited and cant wait for it to be released because the book is amazing but i hope local actors will be used in the film because it would be a wonderful oppurtunity and make it seem more realistic as opposed to those fake accents. but why does every movie about bosnia have to be related to the war. the country has so much more to offer !

Orlando looks great…….relax, happy and seems to have his career in mind. This is what I was waiting on. A movie, and the confirmation is directly out of his mouth. Cann’t wait to see this movie, it sounds great and worth my $15.

Im so happy! I love the southern slavic countries, me speaking a few slavic languages hopefully they will have their people in the movie. I hate when movies get American actors and have them create phony slavic accents and speak the language with an american accent.
According to the news, they plan on using as many local actors as they can.
This sounds like an amazing project. He’s using his fame to make important films, not just junk. I love him for that.

Why, because it doesn’t have Batman in it?
Because it won’t be layedred with CGI graphics?
Because it will be a thought provoking movie and you prefer not to have to think?
Because it will focus on innocent people trying to survive for one more day while snipers take pot shots at women and children and you like to think that life is all puppies and kittens?
Because the dialog will consist of multisyllabic words?

Variety is reporting that Javier Bardem is in talks to play a part in this movie.

I am just curious as to why many people on this site are so negative about Orlando and Miranda Kerr. Can someone explain? I have no opinion one way or the other but I have read so much hate directed at them and want to know why that is. Did they do something awful I am unaware of? He seems alright to me and I really know nothing about her.
And didn’t everyone say that Orlando and Kate B’s relationship was a fake when it was happening and now this one is but with Kate it was real???
