Below is E! Online’s exclusive look inside High School Musical 3: Senior Year!
“Graduation, prom, everybody wants to see the senior year, so it’s gonna be really cool,” says Ashley Tisdale, who reprises her role as super-snob, super-spoiled Sharpay Evans.
The clip below features a first listen at “Right Here Right Now”, a love song performed by Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens).

Yes, Cindy, I thing Zac has a perfectionist type personality and “competes” with himself more than anyone else. LOL He strives to do do things a certain way and likes to fee he earned an “excellent” grade when attempting to do something. It’s like on the bonus section of the HSM2 DVD where it shows him rehearsing for Bet On It and at one point he tells Kenny “I can get it perfect”. He was bound, bent, and determined for his own peace of mind to do it exactly the way Kenny was asking it to be done and he wasn’t going to be satisfied with the results until he had it perfect in his mind. And I have always thought even though it might take extra work for Zac when it comes to dancing—he has said it was hard for him as he was not a dancer—that he moves well and looks good when the finished product comes out. You would never know he wasn’t a dancer. But when I watch those extras on the HSM2 DVD and see how hard he works—how hard they all work— when it comes to these dance routines, I always appreciate the finish product that much more. They all definitely deserve a lot of praise for their dedication.

#139 I know I’m butting my head against the wall on this but to complain that HSM3 is focusing too much on Troy and Gabriella is ridiicuous because the entire francise has been about them for the beginning they are the LEADS. Who had the very scene in the first movie? Troy and Gabriella. What characters were the focus of the last scenes before credits rolled? Troy and Gabriella?
At the end of “What Time Is It? at the start of HSM2 what characters was the focus put on? Troy and Gabriella. What characters were the most effected by Sharpay’s machinations? Troy and Gabriella. Yes there was some focus put on the stran Troy’s behavior was having on his friendship with Chad which was important but the main focus was that it was costing him Gabriella. That was what started to bring him back to his senses.
All I’ve got to say is you’re going to be very disappointed when the first and last scenes of “HSM3″ focus on Troy and Gabriella. Yes the SUPPORTING characters are absolutely essential to the francise’s incredible success. But lthe story has ALWAYS from the very beginning been primarily to Troy and Gabriella.
I agree yellow. I mean Ash is a good actress but not a great singer. Leave that to Vanessa. But other than that all of the HSM cast mates are very talented.
I have to agree that Vanessa has a better singing voice! She has more quality to her voice, it’s more melodic, and has better range. Ashley has a good voice, but it’s different, and is better with rock-pop songs, like Miley.
That being said, they both sing their songs well, and the songs are suited to their individual voices.

I totally agree. I saw that clip about making “Bet on it” and Zac did try until he got it just right. He was also like that with 17 Again. He wasn’t quite happy with his basketball skills so he worked on them before the movie was shot . Remember the paps shots when they gave him the flowers? Lame much! Ha! Anyhow , I think they are all good at what they do and Kenny isn’t about to let too much slide in the way of performing. Good training for their next projects is all I can say. They have worked with one of the best; hope they get an emmy. Lord knows they deserve it.
i cant wait to see this movie with my two kids, looks fun.

The only bad thing is they won’t be eligible for an Emmy since those awards are for TV and HSM3 is a theatrical release. So, that would mean they would have to go for an Oscar which will be harder. It would be great to win a nomination for an Oscar though. But the academy doesn’t pay much notice to comedies and even less for musicals. But maybe this time the trend could be different. BUT maybe they would have a good chance of winning a People’s Choice or Golden Globe as they are a lot more daring and aren’t afraid of looking less high-brow as the Oscars.
I agree, go sox. I like Ashley’s voice just fine but I do think she has a voice that is more suited to pop. I like the He Said/She Said song so much, isn’t that an Ashley song?
OMG are you all serious right now? Do you know the definition of supporting charachters b/c sharpay,ryan,chad and taylor are most definitly not supports. The supporting charachters are jason,zeke,martha and kelsi, the main charachters are the other six. yes i will agree that in the first movie the focus was much more on trioy and gabi but in the second movie it not only focused on them but a lot on sharpay,ryan and chad individually as well as the others but not as much of them and i really hope hsm3 follow in hsm2’s footsteps they all have a story to telland honestly 3 troyella duets is to much anyway anybody heard i want it all? i love it its the best song in the moie yeah love ash

They are up for an Emmy for HSM2 . Sorry , didn’t even think to clarify. I too, doubt they would get an Oscar for the third one but who knows?
Vanessa is toooooooooooooooooooooo beautiful, that’s not fair but I am alright with it. Go Zanessa!
HSM3 is possible getting nominated for People Choice, Golden Globe, and SAG awards. I heard Oscar is really really hard to get nominated. I also heard that if the movie or actors win the Golden Globe, then it will be nominated for the Oscar. I hoping that HSM3 will have that opportunity.
HSM2 has 2 nominations for emmy in Best Children Program and Best choreography in a musical. In Best Children Program, HSM2 is going up against Hannah Montana, Suite Life, Zoey 101, Drake & Josh, & Wizard in Waverly Place (?).

I want you to tell me how Chad or Taylor figured into HSM2 in anyway but a support for either Troy or Gabriella. ANYTIME we saw either of them it was connected with Troy’s changing personality or Troy and Gabriella’s relationship. The most we found out about anyone else was that Taylor has an older sister. Everything said and done was to further the story of Troy and Gabriella. Even Sharpay and Ryan—even though the story took place on their “territory” was to tell a another element of Troy and Gabriella’s love for each other and how it affected their friends and how it made everyone grow in some way as friends. We saw how Sharpay got what was coming to her for all her underhandedness in regards to Troy and Gabriella and the wildcats. We saw how Ryan because his own person because of his bonding with the wildcats who were all in the situation they were in because of Troy—they got their jobs and were on Ryan and Sharpay’s turf because of him. We already knew Ryan and Sharpay were rich spoiled kids so we didn’t even learn anything new about them. We learned nothing about Chad except as to how he and Troy were fairing under the stress Troy was under.
They all did a wonderful job. Not a clunker in the bunch. They are all talented in acting, singing, and dancing by the time it was all said and done. We couldn’t have had a movie without all of them. But it still wasn’t a story about Sharpay or any of the others. It centered on Troy and Gabriella. There was no big story or plot centered around any of the others.
Just look at the movie Picture This where Ashley was the lead. The movie was all about Ashley. Everyone else was supporting her story. No matter how big the other people’s roles were, they were supporting what Ashley’s character was doing in that movie so they were not leads in it.
Thanks, fan. I had no idea that HSM2 was still eligible for anything. It would seem like it would get both categories hands down as it is so much more elaborate than anything it is going up against and clearly the better show. But after watching awards for so many years, I have found these things have a lot of “behind the scenes politics” going on. Our great actors in HSM2 are clearly growing up and sometimes I think it is about promoting someone else which might mean Hannah Montana is going to be looked at more closely. I can’t imagine Zoey 101 having a chance and really Drake and Josh are not that much of a standout. Of course you do have Selena Gomez in Wizards of Waverly Place in the position of “up&coming” so she may pose a thread. BUT considering HSM2 had the highest rated viewing of all time on in a cable movie, then it clearly should be the winner. However, voters sometimes have a hidden agenda.

The above write-up is in many of the website and movie magazines. Notice how it is written as the beginning sentence, “Now high school seniors, Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) are facing the prospect of being separated from each other as they go off in different directions when graduating from East High.” This is indicating the story plot is surrounding Troy and Gabriella.

I read all your post comments regarding our fave celebrities of HSM casts. I just wanted to let you know how your comments are very refreshing, logical, intelligence, mature understanding, and very supportive to all the HSM casts.
I agree with you on the Emmy that it might be some politics involved in selecting the winner. I can say that HSM2 will probably win the Best Choreography in a Musical with no problem. For Best Children Program, it maybe that the Emmy might be pushing Hannah Montana or Wizard in Waverly Place because it is regular TV program that comes on daily or weekly. Which politics play in that hand.
Charlene, for your sake, I really hope that Ashley Tisdale will be back doing HSM4 reprising her role as Sharpay with the new HSM cast members, then she will be the star and lead role for HSM4, HSM5, etc. Zac, Vanessa, Corbin, Lucas, and Mo are not coming back to do HSM4 or any more HSM movie after HSM3, they will move on from HSM.
After HSM3, Zac and Vanessa are moving on to do more bigger and more serious movie roles than High School roles or musical roles.
Now Ashley, by herself, could come back to do HSM4, and there she will have the starting lead role as Sharpay. That will stop you from complaining. Some fans will probably stop watching it, and some will just wait and see how it is going to be without Zac and Vanessa.

Would you quit your whining??? We have already seen it. It was already posted. We just don’t know if it is true. It probably is. I’m sure Zac and Vanessa are enjoying being together and seeing the country together on her tour bus without paparrazi cameras in their faces every 10 seconds. More power to them. I bet they are having fun.

Thank you so much for the compliment. It was very kind. I do truly believe the cast of HSM is one of a kind. They bonded and blended perfectly and I hope they all stay as close as they are now and that no petty jealousies ever pull them apart.
The one person who deserves much more attention is Lucas Grabeel. He is truly gifted in many way and all he wanted to do—as he has said in interviews—is to do his best. To me, although I like Ashley and think her great gift is in the area of comedy—I still say Lucas has it all over her. I was disappointed in the new song that was released “I Want It All” where it was suppose to be Ashley and Lucas being featured. The song was fine to further the story for the movie but wasn’t that great of a song—not like Now or Never which I can never get out of my head after hearing it—and although it has Lucas singing, he is too much in the background except for a little snippet. He is clearly the better singer over Ashley. And he also proved himself from the first two movies to have an genuine talent for dance even though he had never done it before. I love Zac and Vanessa and will be watching HSM3 mostly for them. But I will be really routing for Lucas to be showcased even more than he has been in the first 2 movies. Plus, several months ago I had written on one of the threads my fondest wish would be to see Lucas be paired up with Kelsi and it looks like maybe I am going to get my wish there—I can only hope! LOL
Sharpay, Chad, Ryan, and Taylor ARE supporting roles. Charlene, it doesn’t mean we don’t LIKE them; it’s just the parts they have in the movie. Zac and Gabriella were the LEAD roles in these movies. The plot will revolve around them. Did you read post #166?? That’s the synopsis of the movie. What the plot will be. It’s NOT going to be the Sharpay show. As much as I like her, it’s not. Just so you’re not too disappointed.
#166 As always very well said Karen. And I would just to add that that the context in which we find out that Taylor had an older sister is when she was giving Gabriella dating advice. So even that small revelation was in essence all about Troy and Gabriella. LOL
I think that why Charlene is so insistent on this is because she simply likes some of the other characters better. It’s like I’ve said before I personally prefer Han Solo to Luke Skywalker (although I do like Luke don’t get me wrong) but thzt doesn’t change the fact that the orignal “Star Wars” trilogy is Luke’s story.
Just like prefering other characters in the “HSM” francise doesn’t change the fact that it is first and foremost the story of Troy and Gabriella.
There’s also a reason why Zac and Vanessa were there filming several days longer than any other cast members. I also wonder if after the filming started they came up with a few more scenes for the characters of Troy an Gabriella. And I also wonder if it was one of those situations where the producers and director wanted the ending to be sort of a secret even from the other cast members so it wouldn’t slip out before the movie was released. I think it is going to be wonderful and all the cast will have a significant part. From the previews we have already seen it looks like Martha is now a cheerleader which I think is so great. Here we have the girl who is heavier than the average cheerleader in most school but they have shown us how very beautiful she is and how well she moves in her dancing—she is also a natural dancer and Kenny Ortega is said to have picked her in the first place because she was different. I like that. And people who have seen her onset and also have met her say she is as sweet as can be. So, go Kaycee!
