OlderMichael Phelps: One More Gold To Rule Them All!
Swim-king Michael Phelps wins his 7th gold model of the 2008 Olympics games with a win in the 100-meter butterfly on Friday in Beijing, China.
Although Phelps, 23, has been used to winning by substantial margins, he proved he could win the tough race by eclipsing Milorad Cavic of Serbia by 0.01 seconds! Phelps finished the race in 50.58 seconds and for the first time, didn’t set a new world record.
American Ian Crocker, who is the current world record-holder, finished off the medal stand in fourth place.
Phelps now only needs a gold in his final 4×100 medley relay on Saturday night to win a record eight gold medals in one Olympics. He will surpass Mark Spitz, who initially set the record at 7 gold medals.

Thanks for the link to the photos of that great Michael Phelps finish. It was unbelievable watching on live TV. Nobody could believe that Phelps won. Even his mother and sisters and coach! He literally swooped in to the wall to touch .01 second ahead. He really wanted it bad. Another great race. I love watching Olympic swimming.

It’s too bad people have to come on here and make rude and stupid comments about his wins. He’s won all of his medals; without cheating, without drugs and done so fairly. So stop trying to belittle what this man has done. He’s worked hard for this and deserves all the accolades that go with it. Serbia put up a great fight, so kudos to them. In the end Phelps won.
people on here are RIDICULOUS! they had sensors underwater and it was clear on slow-motion that phelps touched the wall first, it was very very close but he is the winner and serbia should not be such sore of losers and just deal with the fact that phelps beat them even if it was by that small of a margin!! i think that tying mark spitz’s record is more important this time than setting a new world record!

Hey #63, if anything since the games are in CHINA, they would have the advantage.
But there’s no such thing.
There are sensors on the wall that are tested before each race and are 100% ACCURATE.
Phelps deserved to win that race because he pushed into the wall.

He’s not a US made hero - he worked hard to be a champion since he was 7 years old.

The medal is just a piece of metal. Looking at that race the serb had it all the way and really reached the end before phelps but is hand did not connect to the electronic wall immediately and gave Phelps the time to come over a half body length behind to touch first - lost by the length of a fingernail. The serb knows he really won that race and so does Phelps.
