Miley Cyrus: VMAs Best New Artist?
Miley Cyrus enjoys a night out on the town with some friends in Hollywood on Friday.
The 15-year-old Hannah Montana star picked up her first VMA nomination for Best New Artist for “7 Things”. She’s up against her rumored rival, Katy Perry, with this summer’s infectious hit “I Kissed a Girl.” Other nominees include Jordin Sparks (”No Air”), Taylor Swift (”Teardrops on My Guitar”) and Tokio Hotel (”Ready, Set, Go!”). Vote here!
The VMAs will air live from Paramount Studios in Los Angeles and one-time only in its original format on Sunday, September 7, 2008 @ 9PM (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT).

Jordin Sparks should win, because she is amazingly talented and has proved it before. Maybe even Taylor and Katy deserve this as well. However, Miley Cyrus will win, because all those tweeny-booper Disney lovers who don’t know music from crap will vote for her.
I don’t think a person who can’t sing live at her own concerts should even be up for this nomination. Sure she writes her own songs, yay for her, but any person with a rhyming dictionary and a fourth grade education could write the same exact songs she does.
Miley doesn’t deserve this award, the same way she doesn’t deserve all the attention she’s gotten from her stupid tv show, the one she can’t even act properly in. But she’ll get it anyways.
I honestly hope they find her mangled corpse in a dumpster one day. Sigh, I can dream can’t I?
OK. Tokio Hotel has been around since 2001 IN EUROPE. There album was very recently released in the US and they are by far the best band out of that group and the best band EVER. Jordin won American Idol 2 years ago, she’s not even that new. She won American Idol which should be enough. Miley is terrible and everyone knows it. Taylor won CMAs, and Katy Perry is a one hit wonder with ‘I Kissed a Girl’. Vote for Tokio Hotel, not only because they’re better but because they’re the best and they deserve it. These boys came here to tour for you guys, not themselves. They could of easily stuck to their routes in German and stayed there but they learned english, released their album in a completely different LANGUAGE for us, they deserve to win.
