Miley Cyrus: VMAs Best New Artist?

Miley Cyrus enjoys a night out on the town with some friends in Hollywood on Friday.

The 15-year-old Hannah Montana star picked up her first VMA nomination for Best New Artist for “7 Things”. She’s up against her rumored rival, Katy Perry, with this summer’s infectious hit “I Kissed a Girl.” Other nominees include Jordin Sparks (”No Air”), Taylor Swift (”Teardrops on My Guitar”) and Tokio Hotel (”Ready, Set, Go!”). Vote here!

The VMAs will air live from Paramount Studios in Los Angeles and one-time only in its original format on Sunday, September 7, 2008 @ 9PM (Live ET/Tape Delayed PT).

I think that Tokio Hotel should win. They are amazing and totally deserve it. For the one who asked why they’re in the line up as new, it’s becuase they’re new to America. This year was their first time releasing an English cd and their first tour in the US.
Also, for all the haters of Miley Cyrus, fine, you don’t need to like her music or her, but you shouldn’t be bad mouthing her just becuase you can. She’s a teenager who makes mistakes like everyone else, the only difference is that the whole world is watching. And really that goes for any artist, everyone has their own style and they shouldn’t be condemned for it.
