Katie Holmes’ Silver Lining
Katie Holmes takes up her favorite pegged jeans look again (rolled-up redux!) as she grabs a cup of coffee outside her New York City apartment on Monday afternoon. Cute silver flats!
As you all know, the 29-year-old actress makes a cameo on the hit ABC show, Eli Stone. Series regular Natasha Henstridge recently sang the praises of Katie. She told Extra!: “Rumor has it they went 16, 17, 18 hours. Some crazy long day. She had not said a word. Didn’t bat an eyelash. So sweet. Not an issue at all. It’s lovely to see somebody who really does have the capability of making people’s lives difficult, be so grounded. She’s definitely that.”

Jacqueline Kennedy never carried a drink in public, no lady ever would. Did have children outside of wedlock. Did not ever bring her children near cameras EVER! Unless you count the state funeral.
Jacqueline Kennedy did not follow fashion trends, she started them.
She did not do this for publicity, she was simply unique, had a new perspective, and enjoyed fashion. Jacqueline was rarely photographed as she vigorously avoided the press her entire life, even during her husband’s political campaigns.
Kennedy was an extremely cultivated, educated, and perfectly mannered lady.
Katie Holmes has simply copied an already popular resurrection of the style of sunglasses Kennedy favored in the early 70’s.
That is the ONLY superficial similarity between the two women.

As someone who has paid attention to everything involving Jackie Kennedy- likening Katie Holmes to Jackie is an INSULT to Jackie’s memory. Jackie kennedy was very artistic, creative who had a real understanding of fashion and proportion. I know from things that I have read that she co-created her fashions with Cardin. Katie merely is someone who has chosen to marry someone whose credit cards will let her buy whole collections-which she has done.It doesn’t take class, taste, fashion sense to just go out and buy, buy…buy. One cannot buy class and taste. Also Tom is running the show-it’s all about what will make him look good, I have no doubt that whatever Katie wears has to be approved by Tom and his mother Mary.
To #5, she’s like this since she is NYC. Even with jeans pants, she’s more sophisticated in LA.

It goes without saying that the comparison is nothing but a disgusting joke, but you stated it very well.
I see the editors at Vogue don’t seem to think Katie Holmes is notable or warrants any similar comparison to legendary icons. But it’s only regarded as the fashion industry bible. I’m sure the nutbars (or is it just one of many names?) who populate this thread know better than them.
Does Natasha Henstridge realize the reason Katie Holmes didn’t say a word is because she has nothing of interest or intelligence to say?

Personally I think Tom Cruise is trying to morph Katie into Nicole Kidman. If you look at the two of them–when they married him they were both kind of sweet, naive type actresses. As time went on Nicole turned into a fashion icon and a really talented actress. Katie doesn’t have her talent nor her fashion sense, but it seems as if Tom keeps trying to make her into something she is not. Perhaps this is a disservice to Katie, but she certainly has changed and doesn’t appear comfortable with that change.
Although I don’t care for her as an actress, I do feel very sorry for her in this broadway role. As so many have pointed out. Nicole Kidman sold three times the advance tickets katie has sold. Nicole had rave critical reviews (but then she chose a project that would showcase her talents). Katie is in a play with three veteran and superb actors who have more talent than she will ever have. She is playing a really meaty role and I just don’t think she can do it. NYC critics can be extremely savage and if she doesn’t come up to par they are going to savage her.
Where did Katie lose the fashion sense she had? She wasnt this poorly dressed 5 years ago and she didnt even have Tom’s money then. She needs to page Victoria Beckham as she needs a stylist badly. For someone who wants to be in the public eye, she needs to look good doing it.
Either her hairstyle is off, or her makeup, or her clothes or the shoes.. With that much $$ she needs to get it together!
Please lay off the jeans now.
I hate the jeans. However, I love the rest of the outfit! I just wish she would get a pair of nice flattering boot cuts or such to wear with it…
