Wow - Jaye, ‘am glad you share my love for history, you are quite a historian ! This war was under Bush 41, who unfortunately decided to cut and run. It left Afhganistan ruined and tend itself to rebuit.

Too painful to reminish. Indeed even now, our foreign policy is deeply flawed, and Jolie is an advocate for reform, focused on the children of conflict.

Indeed, we owe to this people a safe return to their country, or give them an opportunity to immigrate. I would prefer that we rebuilt their country.

Well friend, hope springs eternal. Maybe Jolie will be a part of that change. Here’s to new friendship !

I love angelina but I have to agree with Roseanne. I definitely do not agree with any sort of allegiance towards McCain though. Roseanne is wrong in thinking that it was solely the fault of Republicans … Democrats definitely had a hand. I reject the premise that Jolie is not a political figure. By nature, Man is a political animal. Activism in any form - humanitarian, social, scientific, economic and cultural, is the ULTIMATE EXERCISE OF POLITICAL POWER.

Activism and advocacy, according to Aristotle, is the ability to recognize right from wrong;

That man is endowed with conscience to carry that burden to redress tyranny, inequity and injustice;

That man is endowed with intelligence to reason;

That man is endowed with speech to vocalize its protest and ultimately seek reform and solution.

Jolie is all that and more !

From Aristotle, to Plato to Socrates to present day activists, - Noam Chomsky of USA, and Fethullah Gulen of Turkey, the concept of political power was never intended to those who seek public office, or by virtue of political appointments. It was intended to those who seek to reform injustice to mankind. Being a politician or holding public office is INCIDENTAL.

Jolie, through her advocacy to promote justice for the refugees, children of conflict, and to seek international justice for war criminals makes her a passionate and ferocious political figure. That these causes propelled her in the public eye is only consequence of her advocacy, that too, is INCIDENTAL.

And to use your own argument - “Jolie is smart.” True - intelligence and savvy are the marks of a true politician. To quote Jolie, ” You never want to rub anybody the wrong way” . Jolie is able to navigate through the intricacies of international politics without being openly hostile. It’s called diplomacy.

Palace Hotel do Busacco, Coimbra, Portugal

“Had my last dinner with Liv who remained in Braga to finish his bank business, and will catch up with us in Coimbra. It’s about 1hr driving along the Mediterranean side with long stretch of silvery sand. The other side is a verdant forest. BamBam had to do her business, so we stopped along a beautiful garden, a tourist rest area. At 6:00 pm, the missions bells rang, and everyone bowed their heads for 1-2 mins, then bowed to each other. In deference to that tradition, I bowed and greeted them too. What a wonderful tradition !

Palace Hotel do Bussaco is in the middle of a very thick and winding forest towards heaven. The architecture- Manueline-Gothic architecture where in yesteryear’s 1800 the last King of Portugal lived, and was converted to a luxury hotel sometime early 1900. From up top my room, you can see the Mediterranean like a never ending flat mirror, intersecting with the billion stars in heaven. I dressed up for supper to meet the guests - oh my - so this is how the royalty lived. Sky is the limit in food and wine - the best of Portuguese cuisine - huge lobsters, and all kind of sea food. Then the after dinner wine and chat in another yet magnificent room, then there is the customary dance called “Fago” with the guest - an intricate, very romantic dance.

I did not sleep in that luxury bed, instead, I dragged the comforter put in the veranda, and where I lazilly watch the moon, billion stars and the sea. BamBam curled underneath. God really made this earth perfect !

Aeon, I read your post, it’s far from being simple. Your are well informed. Remember that always.

As to Jill, whether she realized or not, she has many critics. I am not the only one. She had been called many names - disgusting monikers, and for the sake of F1, I let it go. She had been called the N words, which I find reprehensible. I immediately emailed JJ, the they were deleted. I will not defend her when she is right, no more, or no less than I would for you or anyone else. Simple as that.

Sure, I admire her off beat criticisms and snarks, and yes they are funny. She is also a defender of Jolie. I give her that. But she create havocs. She’s got this wide mood swings - unable to conduct civil conversation - always angry and hostile. Then suddenly, she is sweet and gracious. She’d been my critique all these time, and that is find with me.

Truthfully, Jolie will not approve the way she criticize children - Suri for one is only 2 years old. Jill has taken up a mean offense against this little girl. That is not acceptable in my view. am sure Jolie will not tolerate that !

This is a community blog, and we should be at least civil to one another even if we disagree on issues.

I saw the pictures of the new Lara Croft, Ms. Carroll , in her Lara gear. She’s no Angelina. She doesn’t have any spark or expression at all. Angelina looked fierce. She could handle a gun , kick your a-s-s and mean it. This woman looks like she’s a little girl ( albeit busty) playing dress up. She’s a pretty girl, but she doesn’t look like she could have beaten me up when I was in the fifth grade. I don’t see ‘attitude’ in her pictures. I wish her well and hope that if they make another movie, she’s better in live action.
