Just Stand Up 2 Cancer — FIRST LISTEN!
Check out the new all-star charity single “Just Stand Up” as recorded by 15 of the most well-known singers in anticipation of the Sept. 5 “Stand Up for Cancer” telethon.
The track, produced by Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and L. A. Reid, starts off with solos by powerhouse singers Beyonce and Carrie Underwood. You’ll later hear Fergie, Leona Lewis and Mary J. Blige belt it out. Other vocalists include: Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, Rihanna, Melissa Etheridge, Miley Cyrus, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara and LeeAnn Rimes.

the song is really great. and everyone sounds fantastic. (including miley: for u haters) i dont understand why almost everyone on this thing insulted miley. when melissa ethridge came in the middle of the song and sang one of the most horrible notes ive ever heard on a song. and everyone has the part that they needed and that fit there voice. considering that Sheryl and Melissa actually had breast cancer. and ciara wasnt all that great but she sounded good. i have to say mary j. tore it up in a good way. and so did carrie and sheryl and beyonce has way too many parts in the song and definitely doesnt has the voice. and miley cyrus has a very good voice for her age.
Mariah is one of, if not the, best vocalists in history. Why doesn’t she have more presence? She could outsing all of the others put together!! This song was pieced together. NONE of these girls recorded together, they all sang seperately at different times in different studios. I am anxious to see how they pull it off live, together!

miley was only in there b/c they know she will attract the yungins and sell some more units. if i was any of the other singers, i would have been insulted to have to do a song with her wannabe voice; ashanti is a hasbeen so she needs the publicity; mary j. & mariah rocked no surprise; beyonce sounded great but didn’t need such a big part; carrie melissa sheryl natasha & leann were fab; rihanna SURPRISINGLY good;ciara didn’t even hear her; leona needed a bigger part; fergie no comment. they shoulda replaced fergie, rihanna, miley, ciara, ashanti wth alicia keys, kelly clarkson, celine dion, pink, christina aguiellara, whitney houston then they would have had the best of the best
These are all singers with real talent in themselves, EXCEPT for miley cyrus.
WTH, just because she steals poor parents money because of their kids going to her lame concerts and buying her ugly ass clothing, doesn’t mean she gets to be on a charity single with all these amazing singers…
Note to ppl: You can’t hear miley because there abt 10 other amazingly talented singers and divas on this track. Did you really expect to hear her, the only part she sings is the back up for Rihanna on the second chorus (Get Up, Don’r Let Up). On a brighter note, Beyonce, Carrie Underwood, Fergie, Melissa Etheridge, Mary J. Blige, and Mariah Carey (to an extent) really shine on this record and show why they are so talented. Highlights of this record is Beyonce & Sheryl harmonizing the 1st chorus. Mariah’s & Leona’s harmonizing whistles. Beyonce’s high note into a run at the end of the chorus. Seeing Rihanna’s voice keep up with all these powerhouses. She held her own in the sense that her voice was perfectly fit on this record. I give her major Kudos for this. Meliss Etheridge’s ad libs are amazing on the 2nd chorus. I really like this record, 15 FEMALE Artists putting aside competition to come together for an AMAZING CAUSE. People should really watch the telethon and try to make donations. So many people out there, want to give up when they find out they have cancer, and this song is amazing inspiration. This next comment might be nihilistic and offensive (sorry in advance), but if I was a cancer patient, I would put this song as my alarm song to keep me going. It’s really good.
I have one more comment. Are we serious, people won’t support this song because there favorite artists “didn’t get no burn”. Like seriously, get off ya’ll high horses. Your so concerned about what parts people got, instead WHY THEY RECORDED the song in the first place. Ciara wouldn’t be able to compete with the rest of the voices in this song, which is probably why L.A. Reid & Babyface saw it fit to give her back up like they did to Miley Cyrus & Ashanti. Like come on! I love Leona, and she didn’t get that much parts either. It’s really a DAMN SHAME with the comments on here. It really shows that society and overall CONSCIENCE is coming to a downfall.

this song is so inspirational, and some of the greatest female artist ever are coming together for such a great cause…..don’t miss the special tonight at 8pm…..Mary J. rocks in this song, Fergie is also pretty powerful, but they all sound great!

I really thought that Mary J. Blige took the song to a whole new level. It started off great with Beyonce and Carrie Underwood, but when it was Mary J. Blige’s turrn to sing, she dominated. But when i say dominated, I don’t mean that she overppowered eveyone else, she just stood out by adding a liitle more emotion to the song.
The song is about standing up to cancer, fight back, and being proactive. Millions of people have died in the fight against cancer, so i think that in the performance some of the artists were too focused sounding good and standing out.
Mary j. just did her usual, she brought her emotions and fighting spirit to the song; she was just being herself.
All in all, everyone did good, but Mary j., Mariah, Carrie underwood, and Natash really brought the emotion. Beyonce did good, but i thought that she could of added more to the performance. She was too concerned about lookiing good in the center.

I hate Miley Cyrus but the thing is, this song is to raise money for people who have cancer and all you people care about is if you can hear miley or not????? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU????? …instead of commenting about how horrible or how great the singers are, think about the big picture….CANCER!!!!! and all those who are affected by it
