Brangelina Twins Sell Big!
This just in from Women’s Wear Daily! Not surprisingly, the exclusive photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s newborn twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, sold big. How big? 2.6 million copies big!
According to the trade journal, “The issue is the biggest seller in seven years, and is the fourth highest newsstand seller in the magazine’s 35-year history, behind the Sept. 11 issue (4.1 million single copies), the issue covering Princess Diana’s death (3 million) and the one covering the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. (2.8 million). The June 19, 2006 issue with the exclusive baby pictures of Brad and Angelina’s first daughter, Shiloh, moved 2.2 million newsstand copies (perhaps the extra Pitt-Jolie baby provided a bigger draw this time).”

Jennifer and Brad’s kids would be more beautiful than this babies no doubt.
dark angel, I drove cross country and couldn’t find it!
I think setting records is pretty darned good. Guess Helena would need it to be in every single home, so she wouldn’t be able to complain then.
Funny how sour grapes comes out…. “I read it and put it back, wouldn’t buy it” (cue tossed back hair and chest thrust out here)
Yeah, but you LOOKED, didn’t you?!?! You must have heard about it, and People sucked you in. HAAA!!! People made out like bandits on this, and are probably kissing Brad and Angie’s toes. What a gravy train those two are for them!!
Shitzy and all her aliases will start working overtime to downplay the great sales # of the people mag.
It did not get the sells that it wanted. Being out 2 days early and 2 weeks on the stand. I saw it it on the news. Spin control is in effect.
#45: well, eff you. September 11 should be the biggest seller. That was one of the greatest tragedies in American history. Guess you’re not an American but even then, sheesh….only an idiot…

IN YOU WILDEST DREAMS. Your idol will never have kids because she can’t keep a man. She’s always being dumped.
You take this all a little bit too seriously don’t you? Maybe, you should get a hobby? Something that helps you deal with your anger issues?
I have not bought a copy yet, because I could not find any copy left. People Mag may have botched the distribution.
I reported three weeks ago that it was around 2.5 from weekly magazine reports or something like that. I think Angie and Brad are very well liked and people adore them and their children. I only bought People magazine since Hello sold out before I got there..bummer. Over on the DpoopList someone said the magazines sold terribly, bwahahah, goes to show how such losers spread lies.
Whenever Jen decides to have a kid she’ll sell her pictures and use the money hopefully to get that damn chin fixed.
Jezebel, #54 that’s so funny, as if right on cue, comes the next post, trying to make it not sound good.
Don’t they get it? It SET RECORDS!! And of course the money is going to charity, and so everyone wins. Besides, that doesn’t even count all the subscriptions.
This was a serious, serious coup. There is a reason so much money was paid and everyone wanted the pics. They got back more than money can buy. Now again, a whole thread about PEOPLE MAGAZINE. People is all over google searches now. You people are just making it harder on yourselves, posting more and more, giving People more and more publicity.

#24: will you loser try to find another name and stop using the name of a real fan? Why do you do this? Too scared to show yourself?

Thanks, Tita… these trolls never learn.

When Fugly has a baby on the cover of People, you can bet all the tea in China I will break the world’s sprint record running to the news stand to pick up a copy. I always wanted to see what a space alien looks like.
Wow, how pathetic quit hating on this beautiful couple. I’m sure you’d run out and buy and copy of jens dog just to support that worthless piece of crap. By the way if you ever run into jen throw her a nickle and tell her to fix that chin of hers.
sharon @ 08/22/2008 at 12:59 pm This is great. More power to Jolie-Pitts. People Magazine and Hello magazine split $14 Million. People magazine actually paid $7 Million and sold 2.6 million copies which is total $11.7 million (2.6m x 4.50/copy). People magazine got their money back already.

Indeed ! And this without even taking into account the various ads inserted in the magazine.
It probably tripled the return of the mag selling price. Ads usually constitute the biggest share in financial returns.
Brad Pitt Plan B Entertainment
The Plan B creative exec team consists of Tendo Nagenda, Kassie Evashevski, Jeremy Kleiner and former Paramount production executive Dede Gardner as president.
“Hatfields and McCoys,” a Warner Bros. drama about the famous feud between the neighboring farmers that began when a Hatfield under Confederate colors killed a McCoy who was fighting for the Union army. Pitt and Grey want “The Insider” team of screenwriter Eric Roth and director Michael Mann to bring it to the screen. Roth’s set to write the script, and Mann’s in discussions to direct.
“Peace Like a River.” Kathy McWorter has adapted the Leif Enger novel about a single father who takes his children on the road to search for their fugitive brother. Pitt and Grey are producing with David Brown and Kit Golden.
“Zora,” the Warner Bros. based true story of a woman who is considered a superwoman because of her vast personal accomplishments but finds her true strength when faced with personal crisis. Project started as an Ira Glass report on NPR’s “This American Life.”
“Zora,” at age 6, wrote a list of goals she wanted to achieve by 31, and met every one of them by 21, including becoming a bounty hunter.”
“Katharine Fugate,” a New Line-based tearjerker about a 10-year old boy who tracks down his best friend’s birth mother as his pal’s dying wish. Plan B is producing the project with Wayne Rice and Mike Karz.
“Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.” Steve Kloves (the “Harry Potter” pics) has adapted and will direct Mark Haddon’s novel about an autistic 15-year-old who uses the sleuthing methods of his idol, Sherlock Holmes, to uncover the killer of a neighbor’s dog. Plan B’s producing with David Heyman’s Heyday Films.
Miguel Arteta will direct and exec produce “Book of Joe,” an adaptation of the upcoming Jonathan Tropper novel “Bush Falls.” Doug Wright is scripting the story of a man who grows up an outcast in a Connecticut town, then moves to Gotham and gains fame as a writer by lampooning his hometown. He’s got much to answer for when he returns home to care for his ailing father. Matthew Greenfield is also exec producer.
Screenwriter Bill Witliff (”Lonesome Dove”) has been hired to adapt “My Losing Season,” the Pat Conroy coming-of-age memoir about his senior season as point guard for the Citadel basketball team in 1966-67. It is a bittersweet story as the youth must come to grips with saying goodbye to the sport that provided refuge from his bullying fighter pilot father. Plan B’s producing with Gaylord Entertainment.
Pulitzer Prize-winning “Top Dog/Underdog” playwright Suzan Lori Parks has been set to script “Act V,” a fact-based drama about a female director who works with maximum security prisoners to stage act five of “Hamlet.” Like “Zora,” the project was inspired by a report by NPR’s Ira Glass.
Plan B is teamed with Universal and Nicolas Cage’s Saturn Films on “Lou Zamperini,” a memoir about the famed Olympian and his harrowing experience of being captured by the Japanese and singled out for abuse by a camp commander. The long-in-development pic has Antoine Fuqua attached to direct and Cage to star. Robert Schenkkan and Neil Tolkin wrote it.
Hello magazine has the international rights. Hello mag will sell more than People mag does.
#50: guess you should get out more…it’s Catcher in the Rye, idiot!
Catcher and the Rye? Is that a baseball player with a pastrami sandwich?
and next time, put your own name and don’t hide. We don’t care if you look like you just crawled out of your mother’s basement. Frankly, we don’t care about you, period!
This also does not take into account Hello magazine sales( UK, Russia, Greece, Spain and Mexico)
Plus in the 24 period after the cover was put online “6 million unique visitors for the first 24 hours the cover went online. Comparatively, people.com usually averages around 8.8 million uniques a month”
People split the $14 million with Hello so they did not lose that much money.
Wow they sold more than Shilol.Whats impressive is the 1.1 million people who bought people Mag on the news stand.Way to go People. It just shows that people who dont normally buy Tabs came out to buy the magazine. The power of Brad and Angelina.Print good news and we’ll buy.
cute family~
Is anyone going to see Brads new movie Burn After Reading? It looks really funny and I’m sure it’ll be worth the money.
“Helena @ 08/22/2008 at 12:23 pm

Can Angelina Jolie’s Uterus Save the Magazine Industry?
Apparently, yes. It can.
Keep cranking them out, Angie! The future of American media depends on it.

Actually Helena, that is good. The most well known and wealthiest magazine like Vogue, average about 1 million a year. People has doubled that even more so and you better believe their advertisers paid probably double just to get into that issue. The online viewership doesn’t hurt either.
——-
Of course it’s good. It’s excellent. Helena is silly!
4th largest selling issue in PEOPLE’s thirty five year history.
