This just in from Women’s Wear Daily! Not surprisingly, the exclusive photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s newborn twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, sold big. How big? 2.6 million copies big!
According to the trade journal, “The issue is the biggest seller in seven years, and is the fourth highest newsstand seller in the magazine’s 35-year history, behind the Sept. 11 issue (4.1 million single copies), the issue covering Princess Diana’s death (3 million) and the one covering the death of John F. Kennedy Jr. (2.8 million). The June 19, 2006 issue with the exclusive baby pictures of Brad and Angelina’s first daughter, Shiloh, moved 2.2 million newsstand copies (perhaps the extra Pitt-Jolie baby provided a bigger draw this time).”

Brangelina twins gain bragging rights over Shiloh, all other living people
People—and People—liked the twins.
OK, dumb question, because a) Of course, you would, and b) You’re not Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, so you’ll never have that option.
Women’s Wear Daily reports that the People magazine featuring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s new twosome, Vivienne and Knox, was the fourth highest newsstand seller in the magazine’s history. The issue sold a reported 2.6 million copies on the newsstand (in addition to the 2.3 million subscriber copies), People’s highest total in seven years.
The only issues to top the twins in the magazine’s 35-year history were the one after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks (4.1 million single copies), Princess Diana’s death (3 million) and John F. Kennedy Jr.’s death (2.8 million). Vivienne and Knox thus are responsible for People’s all-time bestselling happy issue.
People’s average weekly newsstand sales are 1.5 million.
People and the British Hello! paid Jolie and Pitt a reported $14 million for the baby pix (no one knows how the purchase price was divvied up). The celeb couple said they plan to use the money to help troubled children around the world—a noble intention that Pop Machine nonetheless questioned on the grounds that maybe baby pictures shouldn’t be up for auction no matter the price.
People presumably isn’t complaining about its investment. The magazine raised its cover price by 50 cents to $4.49 for this “special issue” and also reported 6 million unique visitors to its Web site in the 24 hours after the cover went online.
The 2006 People issue featuring Jolie and Pitt’s first biological daughter, Shiloh, sold 2.2 million newsstand copies. This won’t be the last time that the big sister is overshadowed by her cute little sibs.
I’m picturing the teen arguments now:
Vivienne: “We don’t have to listen to you, Shiloh! Who sold more People copies?”
Shiloh: “That’s not a valid measure of anything!”
Knox: “Whatever you say, Miss 2.2 million.”
Shiloh: “Hey, on a copy-per-baby issue, I still win!”
Maybe this will be the point where Jolie and Pitt question whether it was worth the $14 million.
Look how lovingly she looks at her twins. I wish she could make up her mind whether she want to vote for a warmonger or not. War is not good for children. Since she is a champion for children,she should not still be on the fence about NOT voting for warmonger McCain.
Tondogirl you may be right, they probably didn’t conceive the twins in TO as that would have been a bit early, but they sure were trying hard - the pics of Brad & Angie on the TIFF RC last year were almost TOO hot and intimate…they both looked dazed and satiated. lol :lol:
Also, I need a new copy of People as mine is all dog earred already…but the walgreens near me has been sold out for the kast week…as has cvs and target. Grrrr. Unless a new shipmentt has come in.
I am on vacation in Orlando and I bought the last copy of the twins issue the day it came out. The stores have not gotten new copies and I can not find them at the usual outlet of these magazines. The drug stores or the super markets have all the other tabloids but not the twin’s issue. I have not seen them anywhere I go. I want to buy more. People Mag if you are lurking on this site, please make more copies. Not too many people have seen this issue.
Hello UK has Angelina on its cover ,that twice in three weeks.The baby cover must have sold very well for them to put her on the cover again after one week.
Hmmm. Interesting. On another blog is a thread saying how disappointing the People Mag sales were. I guess it’s like a projective test- how one views anything regarding this couple. IWell, whatever, it was a nice cover and the children are adorable.
How did PEOPLE Magazine not make back their investment if they sold over $11 million in mags?

Even her mother thought she is ugly. If you take away all the botox and pancake, the real JA can never make a beautiful baby and I’m sure she knows this. Has she ever been voted the most beautiful actress by any magazine? Angie has (beautiful and sexy) many many times and by many magazines.

In people mag they did not call them Brangelina because Angelina hates that word. I think she probably hates the fans too.

Just look at the copies sold and price and do the math yourself ,you’ll see for it did very well.Why do you need someone to tell you.The fact that it outsold Shilol is amazing because the twins were their second pregnancy.People said the twins will not do as well as Shilol because of that.I cant wait to see them help people in need with all that money.Its a lot of money and it will go a long way.

I’m not surprised they sold so many issues. I know I went out and picked up a copy, and I usually don’t. I’m sure that happened with a lot of people.

I just received the latest People issue(Ellen one). They showed the picture of Angie in NO wearing the Gerard Darel dress and the photo Of Zahara with Brad in the same dress. They said that the designer sent Angelina a kid size version when she got her dress.
