Interesting. This could have been a time where she stepped to the plate about how abstinence only education doesn’t work. Instead her and McCain still hold onto those outdated sex education beliefs that Bush pushed in their heads.

I don’t think this debunks her being the mother of Trig. And if Sarah is indeed the mother, then it brings into a WHOLE lot of concern about her judgment with thinking it’s okay to fly on a plan while in labor. Further to go back to work three days after having a child with ds. NEVER having a child with ds, but thinking it’s okay to not only go back to work, but step up to a position that will ONLY take you away from your child even more. If your judgment is lacking with your own kids, surely you aren’t prepared to be concerned about others.

Actually, news outlets are reporting that McCain knew about the pregnancy before he made his choice. They’re trying to handle a difficult situation as graciously as possible, and I think it’s really underestimating the American people to think that a mistake made by a candidate’s daughter would dictate election results. Seriously, people…grow up.

I think that this was something that they are dealing with as a family. I don’t think Sarah needed to tell everyone about the pregnancy. Parents don’t hold press conferences about there teens pregnancies.
But the rumors about the baby being Bristol’s that’s just wrong. But now I know why she was holding the baby(to cover the baby bump). Big deal about her being 17. Most teen pregnancies are around 16+ in America anyways. Wake up America she choose life! The real pressure is on the baby’s father, he better marry this girl out of love not out of guilt. You don’t marry someone just because your going to have a baby together, you marry because you want to. You can have a baby together and show the baby love without marriage as well.

I’m watching CNN and McCain’s spokesperson says Sarah Palin is against corruption.

Sure. Which is why she was almost recalled as mayor of Wasilla. She put Wasilla, a twon of less than 6,000, 20 million in debt. She fired the police chief because the police chief supported her opposition. The library director was fired because the library director was against book censorship. Her husband also had a hand in running the town even though he wasn’t an elected official. Now, as governor of Alaska, she is being investigated for firing someone for not firing her ex-brother-in-law going through a bitter divorce with her sister.

She isn’t against corruption. She’s part of the problem.

From what I have been viewing photos of Palin and a news video of locals learning out of the blue (after Palin decide to announce it) talking about not knowing Palin was 7 months pregnant because she wasn’t even showing. Apparently, in the town she lived in no one believed her because she was not showing at all! They were all shocked. To see photos of her now today (4 months later) and seeing a photo of her pregnant in the past this woman was and has not carried a child IMO.

She is not a tall women she is petitte and therefore shorter women carry more weight, unless they are really thin which she is not. Photos from the conference of her daughter holding Trig with loving care as a mother is proof enough for me that this is a lie that has gone bad. I already heard Trig wasn’t Sarah’s sometime last week so I wasn’t surprised when I seen Jared posted the story about it yesterday. Thats why I didn’t comment on it. Now, Bristol is pregnant and it makes me really wonder, if Trig’s is REALLY Sarah’s child or her grandson.

The reason it makes me wonder is because of the things that don’t add up. I find it really bizarre that Sarah walked around her staff, her meetings, even to the damn grocery store in her town without people knowing that she was pregnant. I’m not saying she couldn’t have been pregnant because of smaller figure, but in her case it didn’t make sense. Throughout all her pregnancies, she was huge as a house! the more you have children, the more you are noticeably pregnant whenever you do become pregnant. Now the whole down syndrome situation, I won’t even comment on that because I am not a doctor so I wouldn’t know why Trig was born that way whoever “his” mother is. So many theories could go with that one LOL, either Bristol is his mom and wasn’t careful throughout her pregnancy with him, or Sarah and Bristol aren’t his mothers because Trig doesn’t look 100% white. Crazy huh? LOL

What I also don’t understand is besides the fact even her own staff were completely suprised about her pregnancy, she decided to take an 8 hour flight, then drive another 45 mins to the hospital while in labor. Thats something I won’t understand without probable explanation. She’s over the common age of having children plus the baby had a known case of down syndrome who ended up being born prematurely so why would she risk the fact of doing ALL of that just so the baby could be born elsewhere? Unless her daughter went into labor herself and she went off to meet her…

Now I’m pretty young, in college, and It wasn’t too long ago I was in high school with my friends who were doing their thing, and I remembered one of my friends caught mono, and she was out for a month and a half of school. I never heard anyone in my school at the time, being away from the “kissing disease” for 5-6 months. I know some people are different but hey, it just sounds….off.

Finally, Bristol is alledgedly 5 months pregnant. I just find it so funny because my girlfriends and I were laughing last night, saying if Trig WAS Bristol’s, then she better be careful and not get pregnant again because its 3 times easier getting pregnant after birth. And Trig is what? 4 months? Any woman knows, if you’re not on birth control and are having sex after birth, you’re bound to get pregnant again. Common Sense. Great Timing though, first we hear Trig is the grandson of Sarah, then we hear Bristol is 5 months pregnant. Nice.

I think this is less about being hyocrites than this being a generation of trash teenagers.

it’s obvious that there is no fear of God, parents and anything else that might make teens be more careful or scared these days. They seem to be the “I don’t care” generation. Up until recently, teen pregnancies statistics were the lowest in like 30 years then 5 years ago, things changed.

Bristol should not even pretend to say she will marry because if it’s marriage that she truly wanted, she would have announced her engagement. Marrying someone because you got pregnant is just as crazy and irresponsible as having unprotected sex.

As a social worker/therapist/substance abuse counselor, I see the REALITY every day and unlike Palin, I am not sitting in some pew or behind a desk pontificating on how others should live. Palin is in position to make decisions which directly impact on people’s lives and her own life needs to be put to the test. She could be president and appointing anti-choice judges to the Supreme Court. What would have happened if her daughter got raped, or made another choice? I attended a Christian university and many good Christian girls had abortions and their parents never even knew.

I agree with whoever said, ‘Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.’ What do we really know of Palin except her well executed public image? Now that she is in the national spotlight, we could see the uncovering of other things.

I don’t care one way or another that her teenager is pregnant, stuff happens. However, it’s going to be hard for Palin to preach abstinence and family values when she couldn’t get her daughter to buy into them. If you think people don’t hold what kids do against their parents, you need to come up for air. If you are an adult child living out of your parent’s house that’s one thing, but the behavior of underage kids IN the home is a reflection of the parents, like it or not. It has nothing to do with being fair or unfair. I don’t make the rules, that’s just the way it is.

Republicans may support her; well they always support their own, no matter what they do, but I bet behind closed doors heads are shaking. It’s like being shot at once; they’re waiting for the next bullet.

The other thing is, I wouldn’t advise a 17 years old to get married. They can’t undo the fact that she had sex and is now pregnant. Nor does it make the situation more palatable to say “They’re getting married.” It is what it is. The question is whether she is getting married now just because she is pregnant. I’d say at 17 she wasn’t looking to be married this soon, so what’s the point to do it now. Marriage doesn’t work just to save face. On the other hand, the reason for giving the ok to the marriage may be as simple as her parents not wanting to risk that she’d get pregnant again out of wedlock.

Next we’ll hear the run down on the father to be; bet he’ll be glad to have the glare of the spotlight on him and his family. Hold on to your seats it’s going to be a bumpy ride. .

For someone who espouses “family-values” Sarah Palin, was reckless with her newborn by flying in labor, not seeking immediate medical attention while leaking amniotic fluid and leaving him to go back to work three days after his birth. Than she accepts the VP nom. after her teen daughter confides in her she’s pregnant. Palin knew full well the kind of media scrutiny her daughter would be subjected to, I’ve read at least a dozens posts here calling Bristol a s-l-u-t. I think a mother who put her kids first would have said thanks but no thanks to the nom. SHe’s young (44) if she is really ambitious she coulda waited till 2012 to put herself in the national political arena. BUT NO! Shes power hungry and would subject her kids to this, wonder what she’d do to your kids, if she got to the oval office. *shudder*

Can you imagine if Chelsea Clinton, a Stanford graduate, with a masters from Oxford University in international relations, were to get pregnant out of wedlock, can you imagine the blistering from the right wing?!?!

I was looking at some photos from the conferance and there is definitely a connection with Bristol & Trig. She is holding Trig as a mother would hold her new baby and Sarah holds him with total disconnect.

Also, I am beginning to believe that this baby do not have downs syndrom. In all the photos the baby is facing away from the camera and from looking at him he seems normal. Could the DS story be a cover to make it more believable that she gave birth to the child because of her age???

I think she needs to come clean or resign. I am just waiting for the mysterious the baby was miscarried or died in the womb story to finish out the finally.

I hesitate to call anyone a bad mother even with the FACTS which you laid out.

However, I agree with your opinion that Sarah Palin is very ambitious to accept the VP role when she has young children, including a SPECIAL NEEDS baby who is only 4 months old, a teenage daughter who is obviously in need of significantly MORE guidance then what her mother has time to give her.

When you become a mother you make choices. Many of us have to work for financial reasons. However, many many women choose to work part time, or choose to go on the MOMMY TRACK, thereby sacrificing our careers so that we can give our families the TIME. I know of many women who gave up jobs which their talents could take them just because, it required too much travel and time away from the family. Sarah Palin, if she becomes a VP will have to travel almost every day.

I really question Sarah Palin’s choices and if you are a mother, with 5 children, one of whom is a troubled teenager, one of whom is a 4 months old special needs baby, you must do the same, whatever your political persuasion.

Sure, you can say, Sarah Palin has a husband who would be Mr Mom. Perhaps that is true. But there are some things, even Mr Mom’s can’t do. They can’t breast feed and they can’t always talk to teenage daughters.

I was just watching a cable newshow where it said that there were possibly people from McCain’s camp in Alaska doing further vetting of this woman. Isn’t that something he should have done thoroughly before nominating her? This has more twists and turns than a soap Opera. Next thing you know they’ll be on the Maury Povich show trying to find out who the daddy is.

I think Sarah Palin’s baby isr really her OLDEST SON’S Baby. I think he had a kid outb of wedlock and when the girl found out it was downs Syndrome she wanted an abortion but Sarah agreed to take the kid if she would carry it to trem. So the baby IS her grandchild, but it is from her son’s baby momma. That is why he is getting ready to go to the war. Out of sight, out of mind. These people are terrible role models. What a bunch of hypocrites. They talk about family values, and judge other people. They use their kids to promote this fake image and then they are mjust trashy. I bet if this was Obama’s 17 year old daughter they would be frying him and Michelle. That Sarah Palin needs to take her butt back to Alaska and practice what she preaches. Hurricane Gustav took the sail out of McCain and Palin as quickly as they gained some interest with their big story. Their convention is shortened. Palin is someone no one knows. Obama did not select Clinton. Biden is well know. Whew!

And yes, this issue with the daughter should be a concern to all Americans because it highlights Pallin’s management skills and how she can handle a crisis. It begs the question: How can she handle a crisis when she can’t even control what goes on in her own home? How is she going to handle the entire country and its interests should she become president?

However, it is absolutely correct for people to look hard at the Sarah Palin. What does she stand for? If she stands for conservative family values, can you honestly say that a mother who has these problems at home, a pregnant daughter, a special needs 4 month old son, who already has a challenging job as Governor of Alaska, should be taking on the job as Vice President?

Ignoring the dangers that you expose yourself and your baby to by refusing to use birth control after 40 is negligent and careless. To believe that a woman like this has the opportunity to become Vice President of the United States of America in 2008 makes me ill.

Better hope the father isn’t of legal age because she will be married to a convict. In Alaska, sex with a minor is illegal and marriage doesn’t stop the law.

You are incorrect. The age of consent in Alaska is 16. He is a freshman in college and she is 17, almost 18. Though the law is a little more complicated it doesn’t look like there was anything illegal about it.

The young woman is probably in love and did the most natural thing on earth. She didn’t rob a bank or torture a puppy.

Ask Barack Obama if his mother’s life was over because she had him at 18? How does this neanderthal thinking survive in 2008?

As for Palin flying home. Not everyone whose water leaks or breaks is in imminent risk. Especially if the mucus plug isn’t out. Palin conferred with her doctor and it was decided that she wasn’t in real labor - this was her 5th pregnancy and she knew her body and what real labor felt like. She also conferred with her doctor along the way home to Alaska and all felt it was okay to continue the trip. She clearly wasn’t in labor because after she got home labor had to be induced the next morning. Who the hell wants to have their baby in strange place with a strange doctor if you can get home.

Most of these posts condemning her even though they don’t have all the facts are most assuredly by females. Women remain their own worst enemies.

I think Sarah Palin seems to be a decent person. However, I believe in family first and I think she holds her political aspirations above everything else. Being a mother myself, I would think, with a pregnant teenager and a new baby with special needs, the last thing she should be doing is running for VP. Her family obviously needs her, especially her daughter, but mom is too busy playing politics, and anyone that thinks she can do both is delusional.. I don’t care what people like to believe, you cannot do both AND give your all. One or the other suffers. In Sarah Palins case it will be her family. The Bush admin has set womens rights back 30 years and McCain/Palin will continue that path. I think McCain chose her because of the fact that she has no experience in anything, so no one to question his decision making,he can do what he wants, just like King George.
