OlderBristol Palin is Pregnant!
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin announced that her 17-year-old daughter Bristol Palin is five months pregnant and is going to marry the father.
Sarah and husband Todd Palin released this statement via the John McCain campaign:
“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.”
“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”
Reuters news service, which first reported the news, says this news is “intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for [Bristol].” Trig was born this past April with Down Syndrome.

i think this whole thing has little to do win Obama trying to win more support of McCain being a fool for choosing Palin.
Because truth is, it is a personal issue/problem and only made into such a news because of the position Palin is in.
Personally, I think issues like this should be separated from political concerns. Family is one sector of life Palin has to deal with, her job is another one. I hate the intermingling of the two. and most of the time, it’s irrelevant to to mix the two aspects together. as we know it, there are ppl out there who are great bosses but terrible fathers/mothers.
in this case, we only need to choose which aspect of their lives matter more to the public. and in Palin’s case, it’s her political one.
so respect their privacy, judge her potential for being a VP not through her role as a mother, but a politician.
especially nowadays that the state of the household does NOT (accurately, anyways) reflect the state of the nation as a whole.

Yes it would be nice if they were split but her platform mixes them together as a family value package one she thinks others should live by and claims to.
Yet in her own house it means nothing, cause she is to busy telling others how to live, while no one is at home base really watching out for her own childrens well being.
Saddest part is she sold her daughter out to the media and now the kid has the whole world on her butt.
Family Values start at home which means family is number one.
If you are going to talk the talk then you best walk the walk.
The more comments I read here, the more sad that I am…Not for Bristol…she will be fine, but for how cruel human beings can be to one another. We all know that criticism for others only comes from our own insecurities, so I do hope that all of you find some happiness in your own lives.
Of course Palin supports her daugther’s decision. It’s her daughter after all. Any politician, Republican or Democrat, would say the same thing… support his/her daughter’s decision, happy and proud about her… becaust it’s family matters, and it has happened anyway. You can only admit, or defend, the reality.
What matters, as a vice presidential nominee, is whether Palin supports or promotes teenage pregnancy and teenage marriage in general. (I guess no one does.) And there is a great gap between what she herself believes a teen should be or a family should be and what is actually happening in her family.

I am a Democrat and do believe McCain -Palin will win based only on the fact the Obama is Black American . I don’t see the country yet voting for a Black American. His wife is Black American He did not marry a White woman like his mom . Most Black guys marry White women. Conservatives of yesterday is not the same as the Conservatives of today. Something like this isn’t enough to turn them off now. The liberals had actually succeeded in getting them to somehow understand that kids will be kids and they will have sex…just as they have somehow almost made them accept that gays will be gays (although marriage is still an issue for them).
See? You’ve rammed these things into the people’s throats so much so they believed you when you said that a movie that was being sensationalized by HW called Juno is just one of those things that can happen to anybody…that there was nothing wrong with teens getting pregnant. Aren’t you glad that the right-wing-bible-carrying mini van majority are able to get it now? Proof is their quick rally to the Palin’s side and Obama’s statement that he finds all the things being said about Bristol is offensive.
This is one issue that if you insist on making a big deal of can somehow make it work for McCain/Palin 2008. Think about it before you start crowing about victory.

Look, the bottom line is this Pallin woman is a shady character. Everything about her just oozes sneakiness. And yes, this issue with the daughter should be a concern to all Americans because it highlights Pallin’s management skills and how she can handle a crisis. It begs the question: How can she handle a crisis when she can’t even control what goes on in her own home? How is she going to handle the entire country and its interests should she become president?
I am so lovin’ McCain right now because of his stupid pick - a woman who has more skeletons in the closet than you could shake a stick at. And it further points to questions about his judgement and fitness to become president.
The floods that thwarted a Republican convention, the Pallin pick and subsequent bombshells, the crazies coming out of the woodwork. So many things are pointing to the fact that perhaps McCain and his party are not supposed to get the White House this time. Perhaps divine intervention is afoot.

If she had had a baby, then of course there will be talk just as there’s talk now about Palin’s daughter. There’s no denying at all. However, it only makes sense that whatever side this has happened to will also try to put up a defense. Nobody is non-judgemental here, right? This is just another one of those pot…meet…kettle thingie. Nobody has room to throw stones when we all live in glass houses.
i think the baby the governer claim is hers, is really her daughters baby and she is covering up for it. i think her dad father the child. cuz the dad was arrested years ago for DUI, and he was know to be a drunk sometimes. its going to come out. they do mess up big time !

On the other hand, if Trig is indeed Bristol’s spawn, then who is the daddy? Could it be the former brother -in-law that Sarah is gunning for? It all makes “republican” sense, doesn’t it? Sarah Palin made a statement that effectively said she would not approve of abortion even in the case of her own daughter being raped or in the case of incest. There has to be a real reason she is so mad at the former bgrother in law. Maybe he knows something?
Anyway, this is typical republican make-believe: Our kids aren’t really having sex; We are happy and responsible people who value family life; Every child is a blessing (tell that the a homeless woman who has been raped…).

As I have said before, Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter will do nothing but humanize the Republican Party. Just watch. You have to know that it was a concious decision on his part to choose her, even after he found out about her daughter.

This is FANTASTIC! What’s it been, a whopping 4 days since McCain picked her in a cynical attempt to attract disaffected Hillary voters? What’s great is the transparency of his motivation just like attempting to rebrand the RNC into caring about the victims of Hurricane Gustav so it doesn’t make Republicans look like callous racists a second time around. I actually don’t mind McCain that much but it’s enjoyable to watch him desperately flail around trying to catch up to Obama’s appeal/momentum. Sarah Palin’s views on the other hand instantly make me dislike her & regard her as little more than a conservative baby factory who finally got tired of being a Stepford Wife. Hey Sarah, how’s that teaching “abstinence only” work out for you so far? I guess birth control is out of the question too which apparently just gave your daughter’s boyfriend the go ahead to ejaculate directly into her ****** instead of catching it in an ungodly condom. Please TRT, I for one, am not throwing stones at the daughter. She is a child for all intents and purposes. Young people get pregnant.
However, it is absolutely correct for people to look hard at the Sarah Palin. What does she stand for? If she stands for conservative family values, can you honestly say that a mother who has these problems at home, a pregnant daughter, a special needs 4 month old son, who already has a challenging job as Governor of Alaska, should be taking on the job as Vice President?
And if she didn’t want her daughter to be subject to this sort of intense scrutiny, might she not have been better off to reject the nomination of VP?
That’s what most sensible people are saying. It’s not about the Bristol any more than it s about the mother of Obama.

I am disgusted by this irresponsible behaviour. To give birth at age 44 to a baby with Down’s because you refuse to use birth control inexcusable. Ignoring the dangers that you expose yourself and your baby to by refusing to use birth control after 40 is negligent and careless. To believe that a woman like this has the opportunity to become Vice President of the United States of America in 2008 makes me ill.

How does this not debunk the rumor that Bristol’s the mother of Trig?!?! Trig is 4mos old. Bristol is 5mos pregnant. Therefore if she was Trig’s mom she was pregnant with Trig and this baby simultaneously?!?! Come on people.

Better hope the father isn’t of legal age because she will be married to a convict. In Alaska, sex with a minor is illegal and marriage doesn’t stop the law.

You are incorrect. The age of consent in Alaska is 16. He is a freshman in college and she is 17, almost 18. Though the law is a little more complicated it doesn’t look like there was anything illegal about it.

You are right. I don’t know if Sarah Palin taught her daughter about sex or birth control. I do know from her own words, that Sarah Palin is not for birth control other than through abstinence.
Therefore, I think it is safe to assume that even if she told Bristol about the condom or the pill, it is likely she also said that “you shouldn’t have sex in the first place. Abstinence is the best form of birth control.
Yet, international studies in Europe,particularly in the Scandinavian countries which have some of the lowest rates of teenage pregnancy, show that teaching about birth control in a non judgemental way, is the best way to prevent teenage pregnancies.
On the issue of Trig being in danger. First, many downs syndrome babies have ancillary health problems. Second, even if Trig were perfectly healthy and perfectly well taken care of, can you honestly say to any mother that going back to a demanding job, 3 days after delivery, taking up an even more demanding job 4 months after his birth is conducive to bonding, is conducive to good maternal care.
If Sarah Palin were just another celebrity, would you not be saying, hey, take it easy lady. No need to rush.
But we are not talking about an actress who is shooting a film that takes up only 8 weeks of her time and then she can take another 6 months off. We are talking about a mother of 5, one of whom is a troubled teenager and another one a 4 month old special needs baby, who is thinking of taking on one of the most demanding jobs in the world if Mccain is elected.
Even if Sarah Palin were a MAN, I would question the fathering aspects of this person.
But as a mother, knowing that there are aspects of motherhood that simply cannot be replicated by a man or by another woman, I really really question Sarah Palin’s decisions to take on the VP nomination so soon.
Please be clear. I’m all for feminism and work part time now, planning on returning full time. Had little Trig been 4 years old now instead of 4 months old, I really would come to a different conclusion to my own questions. . I’m not a woman to stay home and bake cookies and have tea either. But there is a time and a place for doing things when you have a family, especially a baby and especially knowing you have a young teen at home who is pregnant.

The young woman is probably in love and did the most natural thing on earth. She didn’t rob a bank or torture a puppy.
She has a supportive family and will have a partner in her husband. You’d hope that we wouldn’t still be assuming that young women who have children at an early age have no future and that their lives are essentially over. Ask Barack Obama if his mother’s life was over because she had him at 18? How does this neanderthal thinking survive in 2008?
As for Palin flying home. Not everyone whose water leaks or breaks is in imminent risk. Especially if the mucus plug isn’t out. Palin conferred with her doctor and it was decided that she wasn’t in real labor - this was her 5th pregnancy and she knew her body and what real labor felt like. She also conferred with her doctor along the way home to Alaska and all felt it was okay to continue the trip. She clearly wasn’t in labor because after she got home labor had to be induced the next morning. Who the hell wants to have their baby in strange place with a strange doctor if you can get home.
Most of these posts condemning her even though they don’t have all the facts are most assuredly by females. Women remain their own worst enemies.
I predict that Sarah Palin will leave the ticket.
